Okay spherical chicken joke: The punchline of it only working for "a spherical chicken in a vacuum" is essentially a joke on the oversimplification of physics problems and simulations, typically due to complexity. I.e. fluid dynamics of an atmosphere is hideously complicated, so its common to simplify the model used to solve for the fluid dynamical impact on a system, and if it's not relevant then it can even be reduced to being non-existent (a vacuum). Same can be applied to the geometric complexity of the chicken, which if not impactful on the reason the chicken doesn't lay eggs, can be reduced to the sphere, one of the least complex and imposing volumes in mathematics. It's actually both a really cliché type of joke in the field but also really funny.

I worked at a apply physics laboratory as a artist Illuststor. Had 3 PHDs get into a fight just like that over me designing a post for them. One wanted it very simple, and the other wanted it filled with info. I Had to jump in between them and yell to stop it. Had to explain that I could do 2 posters that would go together that would work. Felt great that a poor high school graduate had to to take on 2 PHDs.😅😅

So I actually met DJ Qualls. it was on the set of The New Guy in Austin, Texas. it was funny because he totally lied and told them that he knew how to ride a horse, when in actuality, he had little to no horseback experience. The crew was super pissed because he wasted a ton of valuable shooting time failing at riding a horse. On the upside, being an extra in the film, I got to stand in close proximity to Eliza Dushku, Sunny Mabrey and Zooey Deschanel, while waiting to shoot our school hallway scenes. lol Good times.

No lie: the exact same thing happened with me and my mother (not the extent of me hiring a drug-addicted cousin, but still…). She was in a musical performance recently, and I didn’t want to have to sacrifice the hours of the performance plus the travel time back and forth, so I made up some lie that she was okay with. Then, later, she let me know that the theater had video recorded the entire performance… so the two of us could watch it together on DVD. lol

I think honesty is the best, but there are ways to be nicer with honesty instead of just harsh comments. Example, if someone has a bad haircut and asks what you think, you could say something like, "I don't really love it, but it's your style not mine. Do YOU like how it turned out?"

What's funny about critics of this show is that they claim people like these characters don't exist. Google the name Elliot Tanner. This kid is a real life Sheldon. He graduated my university with a Master's degree in physics at 15 years old. He's nowhere near as socially oblivious, but all those same signs of moderate to extreme Asperger's are there.
@jainthorne41367 ай бұрын
Whether to tell a white lie or the harsh truth? You've forgotten the third option: if the person is a friend then you simply go to support them. After the performance, if truly only 2 people were left you could decide how to gently say something like "You looked wonderful but probably you needed more time with practicing the songs." If they really wanted to sing you could always recommend voice lessons.
@TheDaringPastry13137 ай бұрын
Nick, "Sheldon should write a TV show" uhhh, there is a whole series called Young Sheldon that just finished this year after 7 seasons. It's basically his life growing up as a kid in Texas. I have only watched a few episodes, so can't go into much detail, but it was created by Chuck Lorre, who also was the main mind behind The Big Bang Theory.
@HAbarneyWK7 ай бұрын
Also, it's his memoir, so it's a TV show written by Sheldon (kinda)
@TheDaringPastry13137 ай бұрын
@@HAbarneyWK Ahh, wasn't aware of that, but I do know it's narrated by the actor of older Sheldon.

Jim Parsons and his husband had the idea for Young Sheldon. Parsons has a genius nephew, and they were thinking of creating a show around a character like that, and then realized the character could have been like Sheldon as a child. So they approached Chuck Lorre with the idea (since Lorre owns the rights to TBBT characters and stories), and decided to co-produce a show about Sheldon’s childhood. (This is as per interviews with Jim.)

I’ve watched the whole series of Young Sheldon. Yes there is a lot of plot holes in the series, but the ending is worth it. You can see why there are plot holes from TBBT, and why each character went the way they did. Now there is different plot holes we won’t get answers too. Still loved it. Missy and Meemaw are my favourites from the series.
