This was the first song I ever heard from James McMurtry and was trying to tell my friends about him but not too many ready for him... I knew that he lived in Waterford, Va, for a while and was going to play a concert at the community center so I made a point to go see him... Remember talking with him briefly outside on the steps and then he came in and delivered a really nice acoustic set to about 30 people... You don't forget those... Glad to see that he's kickin' a lot harder these days...

Thanks for these videos of James. Is there any chance of you posting a version of Angeline from the same album. There are none on youtube that I can find. That is hands down my favorite song on his debut LP.

Larry McMurtry's big successes came rather late in life for him---and they took place like 20 years or better after James started doing his music and since James took the "hard route" of making REAL COUNTRY music---not that poppy crap that comes from Nashville--he will never get the custom Prevost motorcoaches, stay in 5star resorts and fly to gigs in a G-5 jet like a Taylor Swift might. James is making real music--music that will last, not the throw away stuff Nashville "stars" like Swift do

I've never met Mr. McMurtry or Ms. Swift, but, if I would have to guess I would say that she never wrote a word without having 7 or 8 "YES" guys or gals tending to her every need. On the other hand I think that Mr. McMurtry has had a rough row to hoe, man. And, as far as I'm concerned, he's done a hell of a job! GB
