Just my thoughts. Not all KZbinrs make the best photographers to start with . When you are out making a vlog. The making, filming, and presenting of the video can overtake the still photography and great shots can be missed or rushed. I have noticed that some of the best KZbin photographers have many videos under their belt and you can see that they are filming and photographing with relaxed confidence and experience . This then reflects in the quality of the both the video and the images that they share.

Great vlog Ben and it's a really good question about KZbin. I follow a variety of channels with probably around 2/3 being photography related. Most of those I follow were usually photographers before they started on YT and for the pros it has just become another source of income. I don't think any of those I follow are solely "KZbinrs" or dare i say it "INFLUENCERS"!. An interesting case is Jared Polin/Fro knows Foto - YT is a major income stream for him and I believe he rarely seeks commissions like he once did. That said, his photographic work is still outstanding and (in my opinon anyway) he is still a photographer first and foremost. For the photographers I follow, some will have provide something I can learn from but overall I love following their journeys and seeing the places they visit. I love to travel and I guess it's a form of living vicariously through them but also seeing places that interest me, while I'm planning my own next expedition.

Some KZbinrs are excellent photographers because they’ve learned to slow down and think about the shot so they get good results. Perhaps thats due to a transfer of knowledge from the cinematography. Whatever the case some are excellent while others are mediocre at best. Personally I like photos that show the unusual. A different point of view of an everyday location can be amazing as no one has seen it as they aren’t looking… Sweeping epic vistas are nice but almost too much to comprehend, sometimes it’s better to experience it first hand like those concerts you’d mentioned... Side note, whenever that dog beyond your fence would bark both of our teacup poodles would respond, I don’t think they liked a strange dog barking in their home :)

Do youtubers make the best photographers - yes and no - some youtubers I follow are amazing photographers and you can see through their channels how they have honed their skill sets. I love youtube photographers that actually show you in the field how they consider everything and how they make their capture. Some youtubers are just trying to make a quick buck out of becoming a youtuber, their photography is no better than the next photographer. I also think that the best photographers on youtube do actually let their photography suffer, a bit as they are trying to maintain their channel for the revenue and profile and their focus, in my opinion, has had to shift to cinematography. (Which can be a good thing - another skill set) I also think that most photographer youtube channels just follow the latest fad to grow - for example, Adobe has just released some updates today 13.6.23, lets see how many videos this week are based on those updates !!!! Keep it real Ben as always 📷📷📷📷📷 It could be good for one of your lets talk to show the best photographers you follow on youtube and why ?

I don't Instagram, KZbin (save for content consumption), FB, Twitter, etc... Been doing this for 38 years, primarily news, editorial and stock. Nowadays, I love shooting images that most ignore, industrial, small towns, etc... I try to maintain a low profile using a rangefinder (X-Pro 3) as a result, very few ever give me a 2nd glance. Now if I were to pull out my X-T3 with a 50-140, it might be a different story. But at the end of the day, yes, there a ton of shooters out there, far more (by what number, I do not know) than when I was cutting my teeth in this craziness of photography. While I still make a decent chunk of change out of it, it is becoming increasingly difficult.

Hi Ben, an easy one this. Do You Tubers make good photographers? Not always, the same way that good photographers don't always make good You Tubers. There was a channel that I'd subscribed to (I won't mention the name) where the 'photographer' with apparently over 15 years experience advised to avoid zooming in as much as possible with your lens because you'll lose resolution!! 🤔 But there are a large number of You Tubers who are excellent photographers.

Are the best photographers on KZbin? I don't know, since I do not look at other "social media" like Instagram, etc. I do know, however, that I've never heard so many different people complain about light.

KZbinrs do not make the best photographers. There are some amazing photographers that are KZbinrs, but there are plenty of KZbinrs that are subpar in the area of photography (count me in that group?). I see no correlation between being a KZbinr and the quality of photography. I do think that it's important to have photographers of all levels on KZbin (have to say that, or I might as well shut down my channel) because it's possible to learn something from everyone. I enjoy watching the great, mediocre, and almost decent photographers knowing that I can take what's useful and throw away what isn't.

Do KZbinrs make the Best Photographers, hell no! when you look at the guys (and gals) who went before us, aka Ansel Adams ., Cartier Bresson, Annie Leibovitz etc etc, we are only followers since these guys battled huge issues in creating their images, they couldn't watch videos to learn how to learn the latest hacks, I'm 66 I followed Ansel Adams closely but monochrome photography was to hard so i am happy to be a youtube photographer and let the tech do the hard work
