Good thing you got protective gears. I leaned hard once and cut out within the first second on my MCM5 much like you did here. I was doing that bent knees full body weight lean like you. But my wheel was around 50 % battery that time and I had a backpack with around 20 lbs things in it. I weight around 145 lbs. The wheel was able to turn back on though. Your situation here is weird because you charged it full. Since then, I'm never going to lean hard like that.

The HT wheel will be the best choice for the race that track doesn't have a long enough straight away to take advantage of the night speed. Keep in mind Cobra won riding a V11 so that alone lets you know speed is not a factor for this race.. the track is tight with alot of sharp turns back to back so you really want to practice sharp turning at high speed in succession.. I'm driving up to Boston to pick up a MSX in a week or so I will hit you up when I do.

Thanks for showing us what is the different it seems like gotwayway don't have good quality stuff anymore. This is just my opinion that doesn't have any weight. But they care about speed and torque but not the quality of the motherboard. The Sherman is excellent. Even in motion is good quality. King song is good quality but when we get to the gotway that's always a problem there's a problem with batteries and everything so I was not surprised that something was going to happen to one of those MSP. Keep up the good work in demonstrations.
@UStride
@UStride 3 жыл бұрын
There are videos out there of Inmotion and kingsongs dying aswell for no apparent reason, the different with Gotway is just how popular they are. It's just a matter of scale. Gotways are pushed harder than any other wheel on the market even the sherman. So naturally you will hear of more issues simply because of how popular they are and the type of riders who purchase them. But to your point, as popular as Gotways are, they should definitely care more about quality especially with their electronics. In my case I've never had anything happen to any of my Gotways and I've been riding for almost 4 years now as an aggressive rider. This situation is and outlier for me because I did push it hard. I don't think most Inmotion and kingsong riders ride any where near as hard as Gotways

I can't imagine not having pads on those... I have both of those wheels, but on my high speed version, I have the MSP Pedals (spiked), combined with pads ... MAN! Way more control. My 16x still has no pads or anything on it and it feels SO dangerous. But I just ride to the store for food on the 16x. I didn't like pads either, but I saw really quick that I needed them. The spiked pedals I was on the fence about aswell, but I paid Law to make me a couple pair after riding with him in the past (only thing I actually trust from him, but that's another story) and I'm very secure now. You can be thrown so easy without pads and spiked pedals that it's scary

I'm not an expert but is it possible the power switch is out? You probably need an amprobe to test for current starting from the beginning of the power circuit which is the initial power switch. It could very well be the motor got too much power surge & the overload killed it. Everything looks ok in there as far as no burnt wires but you know that's not all there is to it. A defective electronic component like a capacitor could have died. Good thing you weren't going full speed when it cut out. I had no idea that the wheel would stop turning like that. Your shoes look good. Changing shoes is always a challenge. Just wear them around until they feel normal. Have you thought about putting small sliders like on sport bikes but smaller on the ‘corners’ instead of using the U Rail? I was thinking that might be an easier & cheaper way to go. I have them for my Ninja just in case to protect all the plastic of the fairing. Can you mount the camera on your helmet? Not telling you what to do just running some suggestions by you. 😉👍☮️🌞🌟

the mosfets are burned.. you might not see it but i'm sure if you take the board apart you would see it.. the spark is only when capacitors are empty.. since the mainboard won't power you can discharge them.. if you take voltmeter and measure them.. you will see they are nearly full or equal to the battery at least at the time of filming.. if you unplug motor and power the board it would at least light up the BT module, you pushed too much current through the fets so chances are something burned there

The XT60 connectors are not sparking when you reconnect them due to the capacitors were never discharged/drained cause the on/off button is not responding. In other words your capacitors are fully loaded, be careful on handling a live MBoard!

Its too bad you cant have the best of both world. Because u need torque to get out of the turns quicker but u also need speed for your straight away, so it really comes down to the track. if there is more turns go with the torque version but if there is more straight away then go with the speed. Thats the best advice i can give you for your race
@kmg501
@kmg501 3 жыл бұрын
Seems to me that really the torque version is a normal version while the speed version is the outlier. Reasoning being that the torque gives you the normal safety overhead while the speed version doesn't. EDIT: BTW, the lack of the safety overhead would appear to mean that in an emergency stop that the speed version has a significantly higher chance of cut out.

Judging by the rest of the build quality on gotway wheels I'd guess the electronic components aren't the best quality. Constant hard acceleration and braking would cause massive power spikes and something will fail eventually. I'm no expert but will be interesting to see what failed. I'm guessing control board. I’m willing to bet a series connection in the battery burnt out, since there’s no spark, it leads me to believe there is an open circuit in the battery. You described it as a pop? Since nothing is visible on the controller, that sounds like the nickel connecting some cells got hot and burnt causing an open circuit. No power to the controller suddenly = cut out. If you have another set of batteries I would check the controller just to rule it out I would check the terminals of the battery, if it is like above then you wouldn’t ready any voltage across the pack, individual cells should be fine though. Gotta cut open that heat shrink and check the connections. Your a well built dude so the current the motor is drawing high all the time, esp on the high speed. That added with a bad quality spot weld (high resistance) probably accelerated the problem as it heat cycled Good luck with the race

Like I tell people there are other wheels doing similar things, they're just not as popular or pushed as hard as Gotways. I hope you're ok

A similar thing happened to my MSP. Try unplugging the cut off switch. The push button is really cheap and fragile. I broke mine in a zero MPH crash. I fixed it by simply unplugging the cut off switch.

@@yeahbuddy6852 that's a good question for a video actually? But for starters, if I'm about to slip like if there is very little traction and I don't listen to the wheel but push, if I push beyond the wheels ability to handle my request...in this case it was entirely unexpected and so I'll have to add this to my list but I'll have to study why it happened exactly

Get your brother to time you on split time also from corner to corner. For your acceleration / times between sections. Also practice passing other riders. Maybe use your brother as a test racer
