For the roller, Antoine's compensating a lot with teh biceps I think. Still crazy impressive

I don’t think it alters anything. Weakest link is till the wrist!

Impressive lifts on the small edges! Am I the only one who can lift my body weight with edge lifts but can't 1 arm hang that same size edge? I must have weak shoulders or something. Also, I trained with a wrist roller a lot a few years ago. I would do 70 pounds for sets of 3 with no thumb. Then I injured my wrist trying to 1 rep max 80 pounds. Be careful! My wrist is still tweaky because of the injury, but I plan to slowly add the wrist wrench back in but will be more careful when pushing the weight this time.

Yes, maxing first time on wrist wrench was pretty stupid and I think I was close to an injury but I’m all good now. And yes it’s definitely a shoulder thing for one arm hangs. After my bout of edge lifts I’m going back to hangs/pull downs. I find they are much better. I should be doing a video about it soon!

@@loiduongjr Looking forward to the video. I primarily train my fingers with edge lifts but I'm interested in mixing it up to see if i make better gains.

How much do you weigh Loi? Also only ideas i have about Antoine is better wrist engagement, or maybe he can leverage his arms more due to having a larger span and maybe use his body almost to pull/grip harder?

It was just the angle of the bloc was off. Right now I’m at 150lbs but historically I’ve floated around 142-146lbs.

After this video, seeing Yves's almost one arm hang on 4mm becomes even more insane. Sick!

Antoine's technique is different. Look at his body, leaning further forward over the hangboard and stronger wrist position that makes the edge more incut. Compare a side by side screenshot. Not taking away from how crazy impressive this is though!

Yes that’s why I put a disclaimer at the start.

look a other hangboard designs, some have to rope coming out of both sides. You would then have 4 ropes coming down instead of 2. This would make the board balanced from both sides. Makes sure the ropes are equal length and you will be good. The way the board was angled on the 10mm makes the edge alot better. Like putting a crimp on a angled volume.

Yes. I had to make it last minute with what I had lying around and my block of wood just wasn’t big enough.

How many times per week would you recommend to train with the heavy roller and would that be before or after climbing? Feels like it would be a very good recruiter for slope problems.
@loiduongjr5 ай бұрын
Definitely good for slopers. I actually don’t know any protocols around it. A standard strength phase would seem reasonable 3x4, 1 or 2x a week.

Try the other way for the Heavy roll as well, really good for the Extensors instead of flexors. You'll probably need to go quite a bit heavier but its a good one!

Ou that sounds fun as well!

The tests were problematic. We’ll claim strength when we do it clean 😅

Why not drill horizontally through the block to have the cord come out the sides equally to reduce balance issues on the crimp block? Will that compromise the structural integrity? (edit) I think some blocks do this, like Nature climbing's portable hangboard
@loiduongjr5 ай бұрын
Basically there wasn’t enough space to comfortably crimp if I set the micro in the middle. When the edge size is small you need space to “line up” your fingers with the edge and it ended up not being sufficient. It would be rectified if I had a bigger piece of wood. In any case it’ll be fixed or substituted for a more suitable block next time for the bigger edge sizes!
