The same thing happened to me about four years ago, but I wasn’t jogging I was riding my bicycle home from the farmers market. An Asian lady pulled out of her driveway WAY too fast and T-boned me, hit me in my left knee and knocked me off my bike, and I think the only thing that saved me was that I hollered at her right before she hit me and so she hit the brakes and thank God she didn’t run me over. She got out, a couple neighbors helped me get up, and she was upset by what just happened and offered to drive me to the hospital. I said -and I was just grateful to be alive - I think I’ll be alright, just gonna walk this one off. And then I said to her, “You and I have just been through a traumatic experience,” and I gave her a hug. The neighbors walked me home with my bicycle and my home was just three blocks away, and I still could walk at the time. But the next day I couldn’t walk at all and spent the next two months on crutches and had to withdraw from all of my college classes because campus was an hour long commute for me by bicycle and bus, and I don’t own a car. One thoughtless act by an Asian female driver has left me with chronic pain in my left leg and now I walk with a bit of a limp. It fucking sucks and I think we need to have much better and more thorough driver training and higher standards before we give someone a driver’s license. That’s what they do in Germany and that’s why they can have an autobahn where the speed limit is way way higher than in our country. Everyone wants to say, “America number one!” But when it comes to driving, yeah not so much.
