Have you not tried out the matco locking flex head long reach 1/4 3/8 or 1/2 ratchet it’s perfect size 88 fine tooth i blv tear drop low pro kinda and the locking switch for the head is recessed to where it won’t bump up on nothing and come unlocked like the snap on

TheHeavyWrench Buy just one WrightGrip 2.0 in a size that you use a lot and tell us what you think . They offer them in full chrome polish or satin finish. They grip so well that Harley guys won’t use them because of how they grip the heads of chrome fasteners.

I dont know what you used the 17mm Allen socket for, but I made a 19mm one very much like it for torquing down a plug in a 345b cat control valve. It was on a hot machine that kept blowing out the o-ring under a bent catwalk that wasn't removable without a torch. With 18 inches of extensions on it and no air tools, I couldn't torque it down with my 1/2" set up. 3/4" to the rescue. Still have it and haven't used it since, but good to know it's around when I do.

We do a ton of work on hydraulic lines for rock drills and the snap on angle wrenches on the hydraulic fittings you cannot beat I know they are high but I absolutely swear by them if you can get the flats on it then you can get one of the 4 angles on it again love them probably the most specific tools outside of specialty tools I swear by every day of the week... if you do it for a living it’s worth the investment my 1-1/2” was about $150 by itself so they are extremely expensive but where we wrench hydraulics are everywhere and the engineers hate technicians so they make sure you have no room WHat so ever to work but still they get the job done no matter the amount of work space

Why is it you mechanics have to own there own tools. Hopefully you are given some sort of tool allowance. Is it uncommon for a mechanic to own twice as much as he could make in a year before taxes. How does this industry attract new people just getting into it? Sure seems like a huge investment to work for someone else and would a employer cover your loss if ,lord forbid everything was stolen or burnt to the ground from a fire. Does being a mechanic have enough rewards to cover some of the draw backs. Thanks for posting,,
@theheavywrench95493 жыл бұрын
These are all good points. Some people invest money like this in to college and education. The engineering team that design equipment, probably spends what I have in tools on college. It is tough to try to talk someone in to this but these tools make me efficient and accurate on repairs. Insurance is a key to keeping it safe. There sure are way better returns on investment out there. But I love what I do. This is a 20+ year collection also. Thank you so much for commenting I seriously appreciate it. Things like this help people make good choices on careers.

Those carrot plugs are also life savers.. but brother don’t use your box space for the fittings and jic boss Kamatsu etc fittings get a designated fitting drawer or tower if you can man that’s valuable box space and your shop should be supplying space for the consumable fittings brother
@theheavywrench95494 жыл бұрын
That they are. As far as keeping my plugs somewhere else in a tower or drawer set up.before i had this cart i did keep them in a tower i guess but on top of my old box . now I like having them in my cart. like everything else that is shop shared nothing gets re ordered or put back in the correct place haha. so i prefer to have them in my cart where when i need them i can just reach down and grab one. I split a lot of loaders and pull a lot of control valves, pumps, cylinders and engines. when i do this its a bunch easier to just have them in my cart. i bet i go in that drawer at least 2-3 times a day on average. thank you for the suggestion it is great to have someone like you suggest things. comments like this make this channel great for me. it gives me a light from another angle to check out. thanks again for the help. keep that iron drilling brother.

Is there mostly metric fasteners on the yellow Deere equipment? I know on the John Deere ag equipment I work almost every thing is going metric. Also I wish I could fit this amount of tools in my service truck. Never work out of a tool box at our shop.
@theheavywrench95494 жыл бұрын
It is tough to fit it in a truck. I like the move to the shop for that reason and my tools aren’t rusting like they use to with the truck. And Deere is using mostly metric but the hydraulic hoses are still 90% sae.
