In a way, I'm jealous of people who are just discovering this music right now.... I'm in a stage where I'm rediscovering all of the songs that I first heard 10 years ago or more, which is helping me to appreciate their new material even more. To hear any of these songs for the first time right now would be incredible! It's still incredible! For someone who's new to their material, I would take Maynard's advice and get into the groove of each song first, and then delve a little further into the lyrics. In so many ways, the music and lyrics are organically interwoven, yet there's so much going on, you kind of have to pick it apart a little to fully grasp it all. It's kind of similar how you have to take some steps back to fully see and appreciate a Monet. It is a feat of near impossibility to be able to fully process any full tool album on first listen. Any one song, really. This is coming from someone who's been a fan for nearly 30 years, and a trained audio engineer and guitar player of 22 years. On a great deal of their songs, I still catch things with almost each listen. It's got layers, like an onion!!!

Not sure if anyone will ever read this, but those chills you feel, that means it's resonating with your harmonic vibrations. It's a phenomenon that I have felt hundreds of thousands of times ever since I was a child. Every song that sung to me; that recognized my reality. When I was 21 I discovered that it is my spirit that I feel. My energy, which I taught myself how to channel before I opened my 3rd eye. The first thing I learned was how to create a barrier to protect me while being harrassed by spiritual entities. The 2nd was relieving my neighbors of their joint and muscle pain through a combination of massage and channeling. As an empath I could feel their pain and what it was attached to. Perceiving it as energy I could channel out of an access point on the body and absorb. It left them feeling drained, but at peace. Each time that I did this I needed the entire next 24 hrs for personal recovery as I was experiencing the pain they described to me. To which I studied it as I suffered from it. Worth every second. It opened my mind even further. In a few months I pried open my 3rd eye and learned how to project this energy so I could hold my own against even more powerful entities. I had no teachers and Tool was my only influence. So many people claim that Tool's music makes them feel things they've never felt before. How many of them have discovered that these feelings are communications from their higher self? How many of them are still searching for the answers hidden within them?

The song, at first blush, appears to be a final call to arms. I believe now, after subsequent listens, that this is actually part of a lamentation. The final verses in the lead-up to the as-of-yet unpenned climax in a poem weaving the tale of an ultimate tragedy, bookmarked by "nothingness"/"origin" (i.e. before and after humanity) as if to punctuate the disorder humanity inflicted upon the world. It has the tone of a foregone conclusion and a kind of resigned expectation. A tone of foreknowledge. Of storytelling. It's as if the climax has yet to be sung but no doubt whatsoever how it plays out.

When this album first came out, this song grabbed me more than anything else, not that I wasn't blown away from everything, this hit me at a time when I needed to hear such words, and it's like they said, this album is all about fear in its many forms. Not to mention, the first part with its words and melodies grasp you, hold you, comfort you, and even encourages you by the end, only to throw you up into the void and lets you drift for the rest of the song. I knew every song was over 10 minutes, but this one felt so much longer because of that instrumental ending, it just kept going and going and I didn't want it to end. Then you get your molecules rearranged by that gong hit, and it brings you back down to your body and you finally return from the void as something new, yet familiar all the same. That has always been the Tool experience.

Tremendous Tool´s tune. A spectacular song, which goes through different great segments, with different variants and textures. Prog, heavy and great guitar´s solos.

It has to be intentional: The album version keeps a balanced profile in being subdued and restrained so that they have all the room to blow you away live. Nicely played!

I think its got something to do with the fact that when Fear Innoculum was released this Song was 10 years old already.

My original thought was that this is the best song from the new ones, when I had a chance to experience it "live" in June 2019, still before the full album was out. Most people preferred "Invincible" but I loved this one the most. Sadly, it does not sound this awesome on the album any longer :( My personal #1 was taken by 7empest then :)

1/20 at T Mobile Arena? That's the one and only time I've seen them, because one of my best friends moved his family from here in California to Colorado, and he bought us tickets and told me to meet him in Vegas in about a month. He knew I love music and playing guitar and that Tool had slipped through the cracks all these years without me knowing it. He told me what songs to listen to so I would be familiar-ish with enough of the setlist. Pretty much the coolest birthday present from a buddy ever. Haven't listened to anything other than Tool since then, really. I keep discovering things in songs that blow me away. Just a couple days ago it happened with Rosetta Stoned, which always sounded like a bit of a mess to me and I wouldn't really pay attention to the whole thing. Then I realized what Danny starts doing about 5 minutes into the song and now it's a favorite. Turns out I was shitting the bed.

From this last album i think i like all the live ones better tbh. Didnt actually dig the mix and master of the album tbh. The dude that mixed and mastered that live pneuma recording is a freaeking legend. This one is really good as well.

I appreciate these stunning multi cam edits.....but it also reminds me how desperate us Tool sickos are for an official live DVD finally to be released. A simple download show on KZbin won't do. They need a physical release mixed in DTS etc, containing as much career footage as possible. Like hell, Danny said in March 2022 we'd be getting a live DVD from the 2002 shows....it's been over a year since that tease....painful

I saw them live in March of 22 and it was one incredible experience! To my great sorrow, however, they did not play this song. Descending, Lateralus and Ticks and Leeches are my bucket list songs to see live. I SERIOUSLY doubt Maynard will ever attempt Ticks live these days. But I still pray I can see them again and MAYBE I'll get one of my other two...

........and Thanos clicked the final Infinity Stone into the gauntlet and paused for a moment, then growled, "make the Universe a perfect place" and snapped his fingers. TOOL should consider a professional live concert DVD instead of effing glass skulls. Dudes, we want to see you guys playing your music! not sneaky cell phone footage on YT. I hate cell phones at shows too but then they never release DVDs for us... But dont hold your breath, it took them 20 years just to allow their music on iTunes store. For 15 years I had to keep buying their damn CDs over and over because of scratches from CD players, walkman, car stereo player... iPods came and went, and hardly any of them ever had TOOL on them. Now that theyre out from under their record label contract, they should wise up to what theyre worth. They could make a ton of money, but most importantly, give the fans Finally, up close footage of concerts. ... anyways Ill just keep jamming the car stereo, wishing we could see them
