How can you tell what type of plating was used on these vintage snap on sockets? It looks like they had some playing on these of different types. The wrench looks beautiful all cleaned up.

Hey, love your channel. I've been getting deep into hand tool restorations and was wondering if you wouldn't mind divulging what type of buffing wheel you use on your bench grinder. I mainly just use a coarse wire wheel and a little bit of dremel to get into the hard to reach areas, but would like to try and get a little more shine on my finds. Also, are there any kind of polishing products that you use? I've just been using 3 in 1 and wd40, because it doesn't seem like the anti rust composites work all that well.

my father also had a “side” business (installing chain link fences), he used the same Stanley 3/8 Workmaster ratchet for many years I believe he still has that ratchet/prybar/hammer to this day and continues to use it on occasion

on those, you punch out the pin, and it’s just like the new ones... i had to do it to a 3/4 drive ratchet, and it was a bit easier because it’s a screw instead of a pin.

That brass lever on the Snap On ratchet is obsolete and it was factory.A military issued Snap On ratchet has a letter V in the part number and this is with any military issued Snap On tool,no warranty.Two reasons why are they were considered stolen,guys would take them off base and it was in the contract during WW2

Hi Adrian, I usually do garage sales, estate sales and keep your eye on Craigslist as well as Letgo. I started making videos to share with friends and family all over the country. As it turns out there is a great community of people with the same hobbies and interests. Go for it!

You always use super lube to grease ratchets?
@TomGunnTools3 жыл бұрын
For the most part yes, on the more modern fine tooth stuff it needs to me real light though or oil use oil.

doesn't the "E" stand for emergency? Done during WW2.

My understanding and what I have seen is G is stamped for Government on all military issued tools. The E here is the date code.
