Greetings! I am impressed. Awesome reaction! By stating that you want to listen in a dark room with headphones, I can tell that you already intuitively get it. You dove straight into the deep end by picking Pneuma, too. Tool is unlike anything else. They're true art. In my humble pinion, the greatest band ever, & Danny is the greatest living drummer (& quite possibly the greatest of all time). I strongly suggest following this rabbit hole. There's all other music & then there is Tool. I can't wait to see more. Spiral out!

It was part of a full live concert. It wasn't an isolated recording of him playing like you'd see in other drum playthroughs, but rather isolated while the entire band was playing.

Other songs to check out would be: The pot Lateralus The grudge Vicarious 46&2 They have many more great songs, but those tend to be the ones that get people into tool. Also, as others have mentioned, you'll probably get the most out of lyric videos, or just streaming the music and pulling the lyrics up. Good video. I hope you keep reacting to tool.

Not a solo. Full band is there in concert. Vic Firth (drumstick maker) released this video as a promotion for their collaboration with Danny Carey on his signature drumsticks. They have had a camera on Danny for years.

This was a live show (that I was at) with a 4 piece band. Bass, guitar, vocal and drums. A dark cool room with eyes closed and good headphones is the best way to experience Tool unless you’re at a live show.

I would describe kicking off Tool reactions with Pneuma, as diving into the deep end of the pool. It's certainly one of their more complex songs. This version is very focused on the drums obviously, and the level of the drums has been increased a bit in the audio. The album version is somewhat different experience.

Tool are the masters of transition. They build, they drop, they take left turns and then maybe a right, and you quickly learn not to anticipate where they are going next. This music, this art, can change your life. I recommend you start with their 2nd album, Aenema. It still contains roots of where they started from, with hints of where they are evolving into. Forty-six and two would be a good way to ease in. If you want to join the Tool army, there is always room, welcome!

Yup. This was a special Drum Cam video. Danny Carey is one of Rock's greatest living drummers. There's not much live footage. Tool's extremely sensitive to the performance. I.e, anything less than being immersed at the show will be less quality. Only 5 LPs in 30 years. They throw out fans who take out their phones. That kind of band. Audio/Lyric videos yes. Official music videos aren't 1:1 with the song. They're weird, creepy, abstract, spiritual... usually censored for YT. Only 1 or 3 videos show the band. Closing eyes, yes. If you're into lyrics bring them up on your phone. You'll think vocals are quiet, but they're balanced in the mix as an equal instrument. Only forward when the song demands it. Takes a minute to get used to. Playing live their guitar and bass are at the front of the stage. Singer and drummer are towards the back. "Sober" was their first radio hit. Still a Tool Army fave. For that one the live '93 Reading show is great. You can't unsee it. An acceptable exception to above 😁
