Loved the reaction mate. The line that always stands out to me is "but I forgot my pen..." A number of times when I've almost been asleep or completely affected by something, in that exact moment I've understood the answer to a problem I've had or had a premonition. The next morning I can never remember exactly what it was.

"somniferous almond eyes" is just Maynard's metaphorical and pedagogical way of saying that the extraterrestrial character in this story had hypnotic eyes -- being that hypnosis is a form of sleep inducement.

How do lyric transcriptions always such glaring errors? “Can’t remember what they said” but Maynard literally screams “I” for several seconds at the beginning of that line. And adding unheard “we” in the “don’t know..won’t know” part at the end.
