I really wish I had one of these growing up on the farm. There is even a vertical groove on one side of the jaws for forward wire grip and the leverage this provides is in line with the tool so it does not put any twisting pressure on the pivot. Really nice.

Those crescents are a tool hunters dream! I bet you are right about them being hardly it ever used and then they ended up in a poor environment for last year or so and got that corrosion going before you saved them!
