For the past 5 years it's been my guilty pleasure to watch reaction videos of music that I love. Of all the reactors (some great that I love) I must say that you guys are my favorite so far, there is absolutely no fake or no acting in your videos and I just love it. Also of course just the fact that you can play some of these songs on piano after one listen is just amazing and so fun. Keep up the good work guys. best regards, lifelong Metallica fan ps. also just love the chemistry between you guys pps. also just love you honesty, it's refreshing cause some reactors do act their enthusiasm or interest in some songs for sure

@@GreatmeasuresDefinitely read lyrics. But don't read them while you're reacting. Maynard is very adamant that he/his lyrics are not the center of attention. He knows the music is the genius of the band and he uses his voice as an instrument. The lyrics are meant to be digested later and the more you listen to them.

As soon as Judson said, they were hanging from the ceiling and covered in silver stuff and were doing weird stuff on stage, it really brought me back, and he is correct. I saw them in 2001, they were doing their tour for Lateralus and what he is referring to was when they played Schism live. They had people walking around and hanging upside down in like a cocoon as I could best describe it. Maynard was performing in his underwear and it was pouring down rain outside. Still to this day one of the best shows I've ever been to! Can't wait to see his reaction to some very complex songs from Tool soon!

Tool lyrics exist on multiple levels. Even the name Tool is meant to be interpreted many ways. Like you're a tool. Or that this music is a tool. I've found that I've found different meanings to their lyrics as I've aged. Which is wild. Maynard always writes that way, double entendres and such. This song, yea about pot, but also hypocrites (pots) who call the kettle black in regards to politicians and others who put their views/laws on others while doing what they want. The genius of Tool's music is the depth of everything, from the instruments to the lyrics. It's all intended to take you on a journey and get you thinking more about life.

Bro, listen to the lyrics. The song is about hypocrisy. However, it is said to originate from an incident where someone traveling to Maynard's place in Arizona was stopped and arrested for marijuana possession by a sheriff who would later be busted for meth and solicitation of prostitution. Pot calling the kettle black, kangaroo courts, throwing stones in glass houses, muddying the waters, house of cards, lemon juice in the eye to fake tears (weeping cozened shades of indigo), and my favorite line: Liar, lawyer, mirror...what's the difference?

You know sometimes when you hear someone tell you their name and you go, yeah, that is definitely a Judson. I didn't realize it at first, but when you told me it was the only name that it could have been

Random question but is this room treated? It has no business sounding this good with a condensor mic split between two people!

It is not. We literally had the mic hanging from a light fixture above us. 😂 We were doing the best we could with what we had at the time.

More Tool. Do "Lateralus" and demonstrate their genius behind a song structured to the Fibonacci Sequence.

Yay Tool! At last!!! You know what Judson would love? Some symphonic or neoclassical metal, like Nightwish (f/e Ghost Love Score), Epica (f/e Cry for the Moon) or Kamelot (Elizabeth I, II & III). I'd try a live version for greater effect.

What is the relation between the two gentlemen making these videos? They look like they COULD be related. just stumbled onto this channel and have watched 3 or 4 videos. They're fun.

I just saw them with my 30 yr old daughter in May at Rockville. Watching them perform this song was amazing. I can honestly say this was the song that grabbed me but I find it funny that this crazy polyrhythmic masterpiece would be considered easing someone into Tool 😂😂😂.

@@Greatmeasures Their early stuff is more simple, though not really, only in a certain way. But the music does get more and more complex with each album. Sober would be a great song on that note. But if you take the journey from album, to album you can really tell they never let up on practicing and getting better over the years.
