Well this week, something a little different. I get to make some things for myself. There are never enough tools, or time. These are Torque Plates for doing Evo's and Twin Cam Cylinders. Lapping plates, for Stock size and Big Bore Evo's, and make myself a jig for holding Shovelhead Cylinders so I can Bore and Hone them out as well. Let us know what ya think!

I never used a torque plate or knew what they were for. After watching this it makes sense to hone or bore. Good video, Thanks!

You are an amazing machinist Ralph. I made a clutch hub puller. It's ugly as homemade sin, but it worked 😂😂😂 I finally broke down and bought a proper one 😅

Don't know about that, but to cheap to buy something if I think I can make it. As long as it works. sometimes yo have to give in though and buy a real one. Thanks for commenting Hip. Appreciated!

Trock made some very special tools and it is sad that his work was not continued. They are still useful, and in demand today. Thanks for commenting.

You did an excellent job on this video.. it would have been nice to see where/how you marked the hole locations... from the video it looked like you used a head gasket to get the hole placements... but I am not sure that is what you did... still this is top notch info to see.

I used my original Torque plate for the Evo ones and used a head gasket for the Twin Cam hole positions. Thanks for commenting.

I'm an old boilermaker and really respect anyone with these old machining skills, Just a question could the lapping plate hole be mostly done with a large holesaw or even oxy cut out then bored to size?, I just looking at all the good metal turning to swarf gave me anxiety LOL.

Yes I could have used either way, if I had the tools or oxy. Just old school doing it the hard way ha ha. Thanks for commenting.

What I was needing to know is how to figure what ring gap formula I need because I'm installing a 95' big bore on my 88' twin cam. thanks
@itsmytimeletsgo
@itsmytimeletsgo 2 ай бұрын
A rule of thumb is take your Bore size and multiply it by .004 and that will get you pretty close. ie: BS= 3.5 X .004 = .014". Hope that helps. Thanks for the question.

Great video & great content, Quick question, if you don't mind? What formula do you use to come up with your ring gap. I heard , bore size x .0065 Thanks.

The measurement was just to get it a bit larger than the bottom of the cylinder flange, had nothing to do with ring gap. Thanks for commenting.
