Yay! First ever heart on KZbin for me. :) Full time shop mechanic and on the road for side work. It's always hard to think of everything you might need.

I do agree that a Farm Jack is good to have but having at least two length of chains with hooks with it makes it essential. This combination will serve you as a jack (duh!), a winch and a as fence post puller to name a few. I added a few shackles, slip hooks and quick links to have even more versatility. Keep up your good work.

if anyone is looking for a decent toolbox call a local construction company or electrical company. that's how I got my full sized steel toolbox for free. Also if your box needs new shocks go somewhere that sells tractors parts and just get some shocks there.

I call them channel locks as well. But channel locks is a brand and the name of the tool is water pump pliers.

Water pump pliers is the correct term. Channellock is a brand name that makes all different types of pliers. They also make water pump pliers.

Two things I carry in my truck are a large fire extinguisher and a fire ax. Along with some other, what I consider to be essentials, like bottles of water, flares, a barbeque lighter, flashlights, gloves, a variety of tools, first aid kit, filter mask for fumes, safety goggles, orange pylons, shovel, booster cables and blankets. Depending on time of year this list can get larger, I like to organize things by using those Rubbermaid plastic bins I get at Canadian Tire. By the way, to keep my ratchet straps together, I buy these large red elastic bands at Princess Auto that are specifically designed for that task, they're about five bucks a bag of five. You usually find them in the ratchet strap area of the store, they work great, you can put a little white grease on them to keep them from deteriorating in the different temperatures. I look forward to more of your informative and problem solving videos, thanks for all your efforts.

@Simplelittlelife3 жыл бұрын
Yup. Even before the woohan sniffles rules were stupid. I had a friend who was ticketed for having his hitch in his truck with no trailer attached. Gotta love government control.
@scottcoleman73043 жыл бұрын
There is no law in any of the 50 states requiring you to remove your ball hitch when not in use. The only exceptions would be if your hitch somehow covers or blocks the view of your license plate.

Very Illegal to leave your hitch in, at least in Sask. Rarely ticketed though.
@ryanpalmieri50017 жыл бұрын
That's interesting. I live in the States and I always leave mine in. Mostly because if I get rear-ended by another car, the hitch takes most of the impact instead of my truck. Cheaper repairs as long as it's not a big enough impact to do frame damage. I also leave it in because who knows when you will need it? Its always handy to have it accessible for the obvious towing but also for pulling people out of ditches, etc as well as many other uses. Its a solid connection point to the truck for whatever you may need a solid connection point for. The only thing you have to watch out for is your shins! A quick run around the truck can very quickly go wrong if you forget it is there like I am sure many of us probably have done at one point in our lives.
@jonathanboschman19407 жыл бұрын
What i find interesting is that your first point is exactly why it's illegal here. In a collision the hitch can and will rip through the bumper and buffers creating greater shock to the rear-ender and more injury. I was like you and left mine in for so long for the same reasons until a buddy of mine got a hefty ticket and points off his licence after being rear-ended, simply for having his hitch left in.
@ryanpalmieri50017 жыл бұрын
Oh ok! Yes my father got in an accident a few years ago with our old "Farm Truck." There was almost no damage done to the truck other than needing a new hitch. No frame damage, etc. The car that hit him (texting and driving) was completely totaled. The guy was not an honest gentleman and refused to pay anything and tried to blame it on my father. Instead of costly court fees, my father just bought a new hitch and told the man to have a nice day. Police reports were filed but no court, insurance claims or anything else were filed against him.
@jonathanboschman19407 жыл бұрын
Oh man, no accounting for other people I suppose. Glad he ended up with a relatively small bill in this case!
@ryanpalmieri50017 жыл бұрын
Yes unfortunately there are many dishonest people in this society. Its a two evils situation where you have no intent on hurting anyone with it but at the same time you want to protect yourself/your property. With things like hit and runs and dishonest people, yes they deserve to have their car totaled in my opinion. In my father's situation, for lying and trying to blame it on my father (stopped at a redlight, no brake slamming or anything), he deserved it. Not only that, but it was obvious that the guy wasn't willing to pay for the damages done and was going to fight it however he could. If I could find the society where everyone lives an honest life, I would absolutely take the hitch out. A little extra inconvenience is worth it. However with the crazed society that I live in, I'll just leave my hitch in. I just hope the choice doesn't come back to haunt me later.
