On my opinion, if they are useless or not. It's just adding a flex on a horse armour. To make look like a rich and treasure quality appearance. I know that the trim itself is so expensive and the loot of a "rune?" is quite long to take by its place, (for maybe low end player or middle player will take too long, other than endgamer or "ez creative") Well that's my opinion. Who knows if the minecraft community or data packer (or mods?) will add a trim for a horse armour. It will be a flex if they do.

i have the data pack & resource pack downloaded and loaded, but for some reason everything shows up as a black and pink checkered box

Try to press F3 + T to refresh the Resource Pack, if it doesn't work, make sure you have the 1.20 Experimental Features Enabled (also follow the steps on the Download Page).

How do you get the smithing templates?

Desert/jungle temple, underwater ruins, underwater boat, nether fortress, ancient city, bastion, you can also find templates in suspicious gravel/sand and also use chunckbase so you can find bioms etc easily it works in bedrock java

Hi, that's weird, try running the command: "/function tooltrims:load". If it doesn't work, could you tell me the data pack version and Minecraft version you're using?

You need to have the Required Resource Pack installed and the 1.20 Experimental Features actived. If you are playing 1.16-1.19.3, you can download the older version of the Data Pack (it is in the description of the download page). After all you can also run "/reload".

The most recent version only works for 1.19.4+, you should use the old version.

Na descrição do pack no Planet Minecraft existe a secção "Older Versions", essas versões suportam 1.16.1 mas não têm os recursos mais recentes (só os mostrados no vídeo). Essas versões mais antigas do Data Pack também não fornecem a personalização de armaduras para 1.16.1
