In this episode we take a look at the Kutzall Carving Discs. I use these discs on all of my Maloof style chairs. From my rocking chairs to my bar stools to my dining table chairs. The discs are BEASTS when it comes to carving but are also very easy to control while carving.

Thanks for the demonstration and review. I've been looking at this technology for a while, and now I feel better about pulling the trigger when the right project comes along.

+1 to the guard advice. Didn't pay attention for a moment a couple of weeks ago while using the same kutzall and am very lucky to have only needed four stitches and still have ten fingers. Totally my fault though - these things are fantastic at removing wood. And bits of inattentive fingers. :)

Great video as usual. Wear an apron or at least tuck in your shirt. Saw a similar setup where the wheel caught a loose shirt and wound it upwards causing the tool to impact the face. Loss of teeth resulted.

I just bought a ridgid corded 4 1/2 grinder and a kutzall disc and have a major issue. Yes I'm a novice on carving/using this attachment. My issue is that nut/washer will not stay tightened, it loosens after 5 seconds or less. What am I missing? Thank you (just watched this video for help)

First thing, that gopro mount is fantastic. Second how long did it take to get good at carving like this?

LOL we lost our tripod mount somewhere. I've been doing these style seats for about 12 years now.

@@CanadianWoodworks You just make it seem so effortless and the carving appears to be equally deep and wide on both sides. This must have taken a while to get this skill. Well done sir. And maybe you can have one of your guys make a go pro tripod out of some hardwood or something.

If you are standing directly next to a building, why would you fuss with a battery powered angle grinder?
@valuespin

Maybe to avoid the hazard of tripping over the cable when you're in the zone and just focused on the seat. Only reason I can imagine

It's really nice not having a cord, that's the only reason really. Also I teach and sometimes have 4 students all carving away, not having cords everywhere is nice.
