Toolbox Tour as an 18 Year Old Mechanic!

In today’s video I show you guys the tools I use everyday to get the jobs I need to get done at work! So far I love being a mechanic but it gets stressful at times! In the video I mention a set of wrenches I got on Amazon for 50 bucks. They are the Duratech Long Reach Double Flex Ratchet Wrenches! I hope you enjoyed this video!

Nice box, when i first started back in 88,all we had was mac and snap-on ,of course Sears,used all,never heard of cornwell till about 10yrs ago, matco couldn't find a niche in our area,or at our shop,have Mac tools that are 35yrs old still use them,advise, save your money, invest,because at 53 had a heart attack,double bypass surgery ,so i retired,do have all my tools home,good luck,

How times have changed since I was 18 lol. At 18 i had a 82 piece Craftsman socket set. I basically worked out of my dad's tool box. Which back then, was only half the size of yours. We didn't have much room in our shop for another tool box really. My dad built race cars but he was completely out of racing by the time I came along because of a wreck his car was involved in. Ended his racing career. Nice to see younger guys doing this, keep it up.

Excellent toolbox tour! You look like you’re doing well for yourself young man. I’ve never seen a toolbox that had an empty drawer. 😆 You need to fill it up ASAP! Maybe an entire drawer of flashlights would be a good idea

Quick tip don’t put too much about beating book time they’ll find out and lower the time on you. I definitely want a macsimizer

I get paid by the hour not flat rate so basically just makes me feel better about it. Macsimisers are pretty nice boxes! I was suprised with it!

Only 18 and you’re a full tech, that’s impressive. You must learn really quick. I was a lube tech until I was about 20, then an apprentice for about a year after that.

On the socket holders that broke off, drill a hole where it broke off & epoxy a screw in there from the bottom. Get screws that are flat under the head(sheetmetal 'lath' screws) & grind off the sharp point & threads. I fixed mine like that years ago, as long as you epoxy it in there good it will last forever. Yeah the plastic isn't always the strongest but for a top drawer box situation in a shop these are the best - one handed removal, no clips or magnets to fight with etc. Good luck man, don't spend all your money on those damn trucks. Buy harbor freight til you can afford or really need something off the expensive trucks...and honestly Icon stuff is pretty nice tools nowadays for real! Harbor freight tools have come a really long way in the last decade or so! Dont stop learning & pay attention to everything the other guys are doing to pick up stuff & learn tricks. Ask questions to those old farts!😄🛠️🔩🔧👍🏻

No tool left behind keep everything in the same spot check your tools and see if you have any missing after every job has helped me out buy the cheapest tools you can afford and buy better ones later don’t go into debt many times I didn’t even make money on a job because the tool was more expensive than the job.

Yep the key is to be organized! I clean up after every job to be organized that way. I buy cheap tools and in the future upgrade then take the cheap tools home for my project cars at home that I also feature on the channel!

Great tour and an awesome box! I don't see a lot of the Macsimizer HD's and they've always intrigued me, looks like stout setup. Quick question too, is there any way you could throw a tape measure on your Mac's power tool drawer and tell me how tall it is from the floor inside the drawer to the lip of the orange side of the drawer? I've been wondering if that power tool holder will fit in one of my drawers but I've never seen someone with it!

Looks like you're off to a good start. The socket trays at harbor freight are lifetime warranty. I also like the magnetic ones on Amazon but they take up more room

Work a tad bit slower and stop losing tools. I started out in the mid 70s with Craftsman. In the end I have mostly Snap On, some from Cornwell, Mac and Matco. I did fleet work. But I admit that I would starve on flat rate. But I have never lost 1 tool.

i got a everctaft strap oil filter from napa for like less than 10 bucks its the handiest tool ive owned, the only other one i saw that was similar is one by lisle

Yes it came with the dividers I forgot to mention that! The box was half price from list price and I had a 55” snap on classic box in extreme green that I had traded in. Got it for a steal!

How I look at it is if I ever get out of it I’ll have a good toolset for at home! I love to wrench on the racecars! But wrenching on the racecars unfortunately doesn’t make me money!
