I work every day with impact bits all day long because I repair tools for a living. I use Torx, Allen head and a few flat and Philips as well. The company I work for sells Makita products and we are an authorized service center for Makita as well. Needless to say, I have virtually every brand of bit in my tool chest and I can honestly say that the Makita impact bits are by far the most durable and most have superior functionality. I don’t say this because we sell them, because we also sell and service DeWalt, Milwaukee, and Bosch we service a total of 16 name brands of tools and I have used them all extensively.

Love my Milwaukee Shockwave bits, but I’m seriously considering getting some of the Makita XPS Phillips bits after seeing your video, and VCG’s. I’ve seen Phillips brand do such a demonstration, but it required their new screws AND their bit for it to work. Makita did it with just the bit design.
@ToolReviewZone4 жыл бұрын
I really don't think you will go back bro. These are truly awesome bits👊

Tool Review Zone the one where you completely buried the bit was pretty amazing too. I’ve seen overdriven screws before, but I’ve never seen anyone bury a 2” or longer bit. I hope they didn’t make the same mistake as Milwaukee did with the Matrix bits. Hope they learned from Milwaukee’s mistake and aren’t repeating it.

I'd probably keep some worse fitting bits on me. When I'm tearing out old work and there are a lot of screws, I actually like a worse fitting bit so I can just flick my driver to the side and throw the screw on the floor to sweep up later. Makes demo a little faster.

@ccbowers7 ай бұрын
Shockwave cases are annoying. Especially for narrow bits and twist drills, you might rip your skin off before the bit releases. I like the Milwaukee bits themselves quite a bit and have a couple sets, but I won't buy them again for that reason. I do like the Makita XPS better overall. Fairly similar design to the Milwaukee, but slightly better finish and much less annoying case

Not all Phillips screws are exactly the same. Button head sheet metal screws for instance, wouldn’t hold an impact like that. If you only use deck screws or drywall screws these tips look great, but they may not be the best for every application.

I do like my Makita impact driver but their bits have always sucked! So these new ones would have to be a huge improvement to be equal to the DeWalt or Irwin ones. They have always had softer steel which wear out very quickly and aren't that great out of the box while still being one of the more expensive brands. Check out Project Farm he found out pretty much what I have experienced when testing bits. I still wouldn't buy a phillips fastener if given any choice even if the bit could continue as you show. Torks or Robertson are far far superior and hold a driver even when it is a bit worn. I am not even a fan of the 'Japanese phillips' which are very different from the normal ones. They still cam out under load.
