Multitools that started coming with bottle openers saved a lot of people from having to haul old steel truck bumpers into the field. lol I typically keep a simple Gerber multitool in my car, and I have a pair of wire cutters and a screwdriver with 6 bits in my bug out bag. I also carry a complete tool kit with socket wrenches, open wrenches, and other common tools.

0:23 I think you meant a “quick repair” if you have to repair a “quickie” there’s something very wrong. 😂😂😂 All joking aside, I have a small tackle box I take “on the road” dedicated for electrical/electronic repairs. Part of the content includes spare PL259’s for RG8 and RG58, wire cutters/strippers, heat shrink and wire terminals, 10ft of 12Ga wire and 18Ga, small soldering iron with flux and solder, 15ft of RG58, coax stripper and a cheap HF multimeter. In the truck live a set of sockets, various pliers/screwdrivers, jumper cables, small floor jack and 1/2” 20v impact and 2 spare lug nuts plus two magnetic base warning lights.

SOG pliers, 6 way screw driver ( count the 2 nut driver sizes) and a Harbor Freight meter.

Why not solder? I keep a butane soldering iron with me and have made many repairs for others when in the fit. It also shrinks shrink wrap on a repair.

Good conversation. In the past, I brought an 18gauge wire reel of 250’, and a 4:1 balun - just to make a quick antenna - or to make additional length. Thanks for this. From SE Tenn., you are appreciated. KQ4IXD

What do y’all do to hunt down and destroy RFI in the field

If the RFI is coming from your equipment, use a common mode choke on your feedline. If the RFI is coming from an unknown source, fixing the problem may be difficult, so moving to a different location may be your best option.
