I like that you don't seem to be here because you're dying for validation. Refreshing.

Hey man, I've just started gaffing after graduating from university and your channel is super helpful! As someone who is starting, is there anything you can recommend or tips for developing electrical knowledge? Anything is helpful, thanks!

Hey Thanks Omae! Check out my video on Electricity Basics for working with house power. For bigger distro stuff- Check out this video: "meet the gaffer #39: Basic Distro"

Thought you were doing well, until you brought out that gator grip socket, and it sent a shudder down my spine! lol I would honestly prefer to carry a few sockets and know when you have a frozen nut or bolt, they won't crumple when you apply pressure! I'm not sure what size nuts and bolts you typically deal with, but if it's nothing too big, maybe go for a small 1/4" socket set instead of the 3/8" socket wrench??? While talking of sockets, do you have to deal with wing nuts very often? If you do, a wing nut socket might be handy, or one of those flat laser cut steel wing nut spanners aimed at the lighting guys?

It’s kinda like a leather man. It works ok but not the ideal tool. This has since come out of my daily set bag and mostly works on small projects around the house. TBH a c-wrench works just fine for most of my needs on set.

@@PancakeLighting Just watched the video again and it is very informative..With regards the walkie-talkie ear pieces and other spares, does the industry tend to use a standard model / brand, or do you end up having to have an assortment of earpieces to cover different possibilities?
@PancakeLighting Жыл бұрын
Hey Peter, the industry standard is Motorola CP-200 and that’s pretty much all you need to worry about carrying. I have had production hand out other brand walkies and when that happens there should be ear pieces available with the kit. 99% of the time if youre using walkies it’s the CP-200

RE: C-wrench v. Channel-lock pliers. C-wrench, in my experience, too often slips and can round off bolts. A good grip on Channel-locks has rarely failed me and by loosening your grip slightly it’s easy to reposition the tool for the next twist. Part of my “back-pocket kit” for 20 years.
