Another round with pathetic velocity for 10mm. Although I'm OK with the penetration the speed just isn't there. I still wouldn't want to get hit by one, it just hurt a bit. I see these all the time in 45, 380, and 9mm, but have never bought them because of your testing. Much appreciated! First thing I did with my G29 was change the sights, too! TruGlo tritium front and back, but all mine are green. Always appreciate how minimal the velocity difference is between the barrel sizes for the 29 and 20.

What I love about this channel is, he will not only tell you, but show which ammo manufacturer is crap. I can't stand how a fair number of them advertise something, but doesn't come close to what they claim, these companies will not get my business ever. You don't buy a 10mm for it's sissy recoil and below crap performance, you get because you want a harder hitting punch. If you want low recoil, get a .380.

Definitely not for me, ive never had any issue with norma range ammo but not for carry loads. Great as always Tools.

I think the velocity for these projectiles are set to full expansion and not so much that it either peels them all the way around and back or rips petals completely off. I'd like to see how they perform at 1500 FPS. Thanks for testing them and thanks for adding the G29 into the stable.

So far this brand has expanded well, I want the energy to stay in the target and not over penetrate into someone behind them. But why do most all Ammo makers down load the 10mm, there are no Antique 10mm pistols to protect all 10mm are modern pistols.

I wonder if in NORMA’S testing of these rounds they came to this velocity as the best balance between penetration and expansion. If they were much faster they might expand too quickly and penetration would suffer. Conversely if they were slower penetration would be better but expansion might suffer. Just a thought 🤠

Well so much for hoping for a pleasant surprise. They did pretty well but I’m with you 💯. The velocity thing with 10mm is maddening. But I think I will order a few boxes and pull the bullets and spice them up to where they should be and try that. Break out the gel block. It’s a great concept with these rounds but they normally fail on the penetration. Great video nonetheless my friend 👍🇺🇸🇺🇸

I'm sorry to say that I share your opinion on these. If you want a similar round that does perform, look at Underwood's 155 all copper Tac-Xps. 1,400 fps and moderate recoil. Can't wait to see your test of the Grizzly ammo !

Of all the Norma MHP bullets I've seen, most of them fail to reach adequate penetration. However, even with these having less than full house 10mm power they look like they have the potential as great manstoppers! They get past the 12" mark and expand even larger than a .45 in HST. The first bullet that curved makes me wonder if it would have gone even an inch or two deeper if it went straight. Though it is nice to see even with the curve it had adequate depth.

I'm a 40/45 guy... Just don't want to aquire another caliber to stockpile... That said, I may move to 10 at some point IF the love continues... I'll probably consider including those in my loads, as I tend to carry with multiple types of rounds staggered in my EDC.

Hot 40sw would definitely hang with this and maybe even beat it in velocity. But I am impressed with the projectile however I would be curious to see if it could handle actually 10mm velocity which at 155 grain should be north of 1400fps

Norma putting out some solid 9mm ammo here. What's that? This is 10mm ammo? No, it's not. I'm not even sure this is .40 S&W Long ammo. In order to be 10mm ammo, it would have to be generating at least 444 energy foot pounds at 50 yards with every shot. This stuff couldn't even make those numbers at the muzzle. OK, fine. I'll concede that the second shot out of the G20 did, in fact, exceed 444 energy foot pounds at the muzzle. It made 445 energy foot pounds. Out of 12 shots that we got a chrono reading on, one of them exceeded 444 energy foot pounds at the muzzle. Let me re-state that: ONE of the 12 shots fired from this ammo exceeded 444 energy foot pounds AT THE MUZZLE. This stuff is not even CLOSE to being 10mm ammo, no matter what the box says. So what do the 50-yard numbers look like? Well, let's see. Out of the G29, we averaged 999 feet per second and 343 energy foot pounds with a low of 994 FPS and 339 EFP and a high of 1008 FPS and 349 EFP. Out of the G20, we averaged 1018 FPS and 356 EFP with a low of 1015 FPS and 354 EFP and a high of 1023 FPS and 360 energy foot pounds (which it did twice in a row but with different V0 readings, so we know it wasn't a duplicate). Norma should be ashamed to call this stuff "10mm" ammo.

These Norma loads are about what I would expect from a white box of no-name 40 S&W. In the olden days Elmer Keith was getting higher velocities from his hand-loaded 38 Specials pushing 170 grain bullets.

I was thinking that I remembered all of the Norma monolithics being loaded pretty light. I just don’t understand why they don’t load them at least a little closer to spec. Then, you may actually consistently get some immediate expansion. It is irritating when companies decide to screw up what could be a good thing.

For a big company, Norma should do way better in the FPS/FPE department. Maybe the reason they are on clearance is due to they have found that these aren't up to par in the 10MM category. Hopefully, they will come out with a better loading and overhaul this product. Yea, they expanded, but IMO they suck for power and speed.

Excellent performance in gel, but well, given other tests i don't have faith in that performance being reliable, and the curve's definitely a liability. i'd like to see a full power 10mm load with enough expansion to get right around 14 inches of penetration though. I have high hopes for the Ballistic Machinist's 10mm Interceptor.

Norma made a 2nd 10mm hollowpoint. This the mhp and now the safeguard which is more of a standard hp. I just got an email saying they are for sale. I have some if the 9mm and 38-special.

Look great in the G20, almost a full inch of expansion. You want light recoil for self defense, put the bullets where they need to go. Those bullets look big and sharp.

As always a good video brother. I like watching your videos, I just hate ta see ya freeze making them in the winter. I would be cool if you had some kinda enclosure you could heat. An idea would be to get a couple old semi trailers, but a couple ends out attach and wallah an indoor range. I think the 10mm in general would be a better large animal defense gun but of course ya'd need to get the more expensive hard cast rounds. As far as the hp's here once again they seem to struggle to remain on par with a decent 40 s&w round. My brother and I are at 2 different ends of the spectrum. Within the last several months he got 2 high end pistols, one a glock 40 cal, the other sig sauer 10 mm. Me, I'm a Taurus hi point guy lol. All said and done even if I could afford a nice 10 mm I'm a 9mm guy. so many good rounds and less frustration lol

This was basically 40S&W performance. I would expect real 10mm from Norma. Instead the MHP (Modicum Hollow Point) is a true under performer. Might be interesting to send some out of a PCC to see if the extra velocity would get those petals rolled back.

I actually bought not this ammunition but that bullet 155 grain horny XTP 3 years ago to load in my 40 Smith& Wesson and, my 10 mm Rock Island have not loaded any yet. Have not been able to find pistol primers. At a decent price. But yeah those bullets should be going about 1400 feet per second. It's called shrinkflation just like everything else.!

I have an alphawolf glock 20 6in barrel still new in package if you are interested in it. You can probably get some use out of it on the vids. I know we don't live to far apart and would be glad to meet you somewhere if you are.

Bought a dozen boxes of these in .380 when my local gun shop was selling out on them and later found out why they were selling them out cheap. About half expand in water, penetrate into forth gallon jug though, so not bad penetration out of a .380. Just needed to make them maybe in six petals instead of four and maybe they would expand better? Petals are just too tough with only four of them in this hard copper bullet. And yes, that is pitiful velocity out of a 10mm round. I have to wonder how much better they would work if loaded up to about twelve hundred where they should be.

Pretty good velocities......for a .40 S&W, not so much for a 10mm. Until manufacturers of firearms build a pistol to handle the pressures of the original offerings of 10mm, you'll not see the velocities you want. The cartridge has been watered down to a .40 S&W +P. Don't go holding your breath waiting for the cartridge and pistol combo that will hold up. They don't even list the original load specs anymore, everything is around the 36,000 to 38,000 psi range, not the 50,000 it used to be. With liabilities, self-destruction issues, you'll not see what it should be offered unless it's a large frame, duty sized pistol.

I actually really like this MHP cartridge (in .45ACP) out of my FNX-45 with a 5.3" barrel. It's just barely subsonic, & expands every time

That curving that takes place may be beneficial for when you’re aiming at center mass but end up off that line… these COULD curve towards center mass. So, with these rounds and divine intervention combined they’re perfect!

I had a box of Norma come with some strange waxy grease stuff on them that I had to clean off of every single round.

Has anyone figured out why most of the major ammo manufacturers are loading their 10mm stuff at such weenie velocities? They are defeating the entire purpose of using the 10mm in the first place!
