I have had 2 AW with dead pixel, so ordered a G7 to try before getting my AW replaced again. The G7 has far better blacks and no IPS glow, I would actually say it looked slightly better to me. However the curve I could not get use to. In games its great but when using for work or browsing I hate it. The Samsung seemed to be less bright and kinder on the eyes. The AW had far better build quality and Samsung seems a little plastic. AW also has 3 year warranty over the G7 1 year. I read that the AW has lower input lag if that makes a difference to you. If the Samsung was a flat screen it would of been so much harder to make a decision and I might of gone with the G7. I went for the AW in the end.

sadly i dont think that alienware can create a monitor without a dead pixel. Went through 3 panels to get one that didnt have a dead pixel in the middle of the screen. My 25" has a dead pixel in the bottom left of the screen so i never see it. Still annoying AF.

@@hugogregs Bro, the colors are that good. It's well worth the money.. I don't know what everyone is complaining about anyways, they're just talking. It's well known already that Samsung makes some of the best panels. And to be honest, the problems that the G7 did have were at the very beginning of it's release, before the firmware upgrade. None of these problems were hardware or spec related, merely software issues that were corrected already by the time i purchased it. So all i got was pure satisfaction paired with a RTX 3090 and 240hz . I used an x rite idisplay studio to calibrate it. Very nice instrument and evened out the blue, made everything pop more. I had to get the 32" bc it was bigger and i felt compelled to run multi monitor with the 27" as either were hard to pair for multi monitor and its CURVE....i had to pass on the G7. Note: As of a couple days ago, Dell dropped the Alienware AW2721D to $889.00 USD. I'm assuming this price will only get lower. This is most likely due to the fact that other brands are starting to release more 1440p 240hz IPS monitors (Acer, AOC, and ASUS). Dell/Alienware knows they are no longer the only ones.. I purchased the AW2721D on Amazon for $735.00 USD and fucking love it. ALSO another thing worth mentioning. Amazon says it wont be delivered until January. I purchased mine 2 weeks ago with the intent that it was supposed to be delivered the first week of Jan... But arrived 3 days after I ordered it. I'm NOT saying this will be the case for anyone here who decides to purchase it from Amazon, but I'd figure I'd share my experience.

Best monitor review I've seen. Most people go too in depth for the end-all/be-all monitor and seem "reserved" in their opinions as if they're afraid to piss the vendor off. You hit all the important points that gamer will care about. I mean obviously no one but a gamer would be searching for monitors that have a 200+ refresh rate under 4k resolution. There are WAY better options for cinematics and creators. Great review!

i mean its just a rich mans game/monitor...nobody can afford a single monitor solution and the G7 is priced exactly as such. Not to mention pushing various titles to 240 fps+ at QHD the kind of system specs you would need...I have no doubt that the g7 is an amazing monitor and color for games and amazing image uniformity at lower fps ranges/hz ranges far out performing varoius QHD monitors in regards to image uniformity at 80-130 fps compared to other "HIGH Refresh" qhd monitors..esp with OD enabled. Just I went with a 34" mi...for 400$ and had a 27" acer vgo270 165hz budget 1080p monitor b4 i replaced that with a 165hz qhd LG nano...and yeah the cost between the 34"+27" nano...was 800$ around the launch MSRP of the 32" g7...the G7 too aggressively curved to ideally support a multimonitor setup. And TBH im one of those ppl that like having streams up/raid guides/game guides etc open while gaming on fullscreen+windowed myself. So the g7 became a tough pass but i had to pass. IM sure the majority of ppl running g7 only have a single monitor or some cattawumpus desk setup. And IMO honestly the screen was too good...for that to be a tradeoff for me personally. And i outright passed on the alienware bc of its OD/image uniformity IN AAA titles or with a system yielding 100-120fps max in AAA titles as it is.

I agree that the Alienware is easily the better piece of kit. However, I ended up finding the G7 on sale for $500 and couldn’t resist myself. At that price it’s more than half of what I’d pay for a few inconsequential features on the Alienware. The only problem I’ve had with the G7 so far, after setting it up yesterday, would be how large the stand is. I know you mentioned it in this video, but jeez it’s big. Even if you have a massive desk I’d still be prepared to buy a monitor stand almost immediately. Other than that, the G7 has been an amazing experience for the few hours I’ve tested it thus far.

are you still impressed with the g7? In addition, in the long term, the curve began to bother you in games? Is a flat monitor better for reading or watching movies?

@@frannydelacruz3724 After using this monitor for over a year I can easily say it’s worth the money. The curve is awesome, not only in games, but also while viewing media. One you get used to it, you really forget the curve is even there. It simply just makes everything seem so much more immersive in a way. The performance is also very good and the quickly adjustable settings are nice when transferring from game to game. The only drawbacks are the giant monitor stand which takes up a lot of space on the desk; I recommend getting a monitor arm for this reason. Also, I have some backlight which bleeds onto the corners of my screen when it’s pitch black. However, this is kinda unavoidable unless you’re getting a super high end model. @jonmarinos71704 жыл бұрын
I bought it for $600 and it was worth every penny, imo. It’s not perfect tho as there is some backlight bleed at the tops and bottoms of every unit due to the extreme curve and being a VA panel, but not noticeable in games/applications. The curve melts away when playing games very quickly - much more noticeable when doing day to day tasks or watching KZbin, etc. On the flip side- Contrast ratio is great, colors are vibrant and beautiful, and it is fast (great for competitive gaming). Also, I personally prefer the 27” version over the 32” inch variant because of its higher PPI.

@TooMuchTech4 жыл бұрын
Pretty much, backlight bleed on literally any IPS monitor is pretty bad. The only way to avoid it is to have a local dimming system similar to a higher end TV. Just not practical for for a gaming monitor as it would increase the cost too much. I wouldn’t feed too much into backlight bleed being a major decision in making your purchase between these two to be honest
@levispartan19934 жыл бұрын
i just dont get why you would buy a monitor with really bad backlight bleed over the new va tech in the samsung because it has a gsync module? last time i sold a 240hz tn pannel from alienware and bought a ips pannel 144hz with a gsync module i regretted it bigtime .

I owned G7 and as always Samsung with alot of flaws!!! Broken back plastic, very weak in general, also black pixel appeared in the middle after one month. Im done with Samsung for the rest of my life, same happened when i bought samsung s8 edge couple years ago it was dead pixel in the corner of the phone!What a shame cheap company Samsung is! Now i sold my monitor and waiting for Alienware AW2721D to arrive. As far as i heard their monitors are on par with the best, high quality too! I mean it’s 20kg weight, where Samsung is only 8kg! Says alot about cheap build quality of Samsung. Can’t wait for my new Alienware much higher brightness and no more retarded curves on the screen which are clearly flawed from the phones to their monitors. All these reviewers who say Samsung G7 better, probs got some money from Samsung to promote. Hot garbage trust me, i used it for 5 months!!!

Is Acer Predator XB323UGP a Better Display than Samsung G7?
@WodenRenztil3 жыл бұрын
I think you may want to look into your input latency results regarding the G7. When you look at places like Rtings where they have tested both input latency and response times the G7 is usually only 1ms behind the fastest IPS esports monitors on the market, which is stellar for a VA panel.
@TooMuchTech3 жыл бұрын
Which is fine - if you look at numbers alone. But after using the Alienware 27, and owning the Odyssey G7 as well as the Acer Predator XB273U GX, I can honestly say that both IPS panels *feel* noticeably snappier than the G7. Again, they are perceivably quicker when each is set to its optimal settings. And I notice the differences my gameplay to because I can tell in my stats that I play more consistently with the Alienware and Acer as well. Numbers aside, the experience of the two IPS panels *feels* quicker
@WodenRenztil Жыл бұрын
@@TooMuchTech Update! I recently found out the G7 panel can have big latency differences depending on the firmware version you are using and one small setting added in a firmware update to help some people with VRR flicker. An option called "VRR Control" was added in a firmware update and can be found in the "System" options of the montor. That option helps reduce VRR flicker for some people, but it also drastically increases latency by up to 7ms. That could be a reason for the increase of latency you or other people are experiencing with the Samsung G7.

@@WodenRenztil so youre saying that the VVR control is turned on by default after the firmware update and you should turn it off to have lower input latency?

I was curious, what is the point of gsync at 240hz if you can only run ~100fps on max setting on some games. does gsync even work at that fps?

The point of G Sync is to reduce tearing **when your FPS dips** so that you don’t notice the difference in performance and scream tearing doesn’t become a distraction

the default about the gsync and time response is wrong with G7 32" version because the 32" does permit to have both gsync and vrr and is then a gsync ultimate as well as the alienware 27". That's the main difference betwen G7 27" and G7 32"
