This library is awesome! It sounds great just out of the box.

Yes, I agree. I didn’t expect it to turn out that great

Couldn’t wait for this one, it’s basically their 20th anniversary library, loving the presets, especially “for helvede”

I fell in love with the Sonor Kit and the absolutely amazin Sonor 14*6 Artist SeriesCast Bronze snare ! The rimshots are gorgeous, the details are so good, ghost notes are perfection. I will use it anytime for recording :)

One thing i like about SD3..GGD..AD2 and a few more drum plugins is that..all presets are mix ready to go....thats totally awesome

true. I wasn't sure till now about drum machines like that and I was thinking you need to multi output anyway and trigger /resample every truck but its simple not needed. You won't have a better effect. Unbelievable

This library sounds great. I’m sure I heard a lot of artefacts and clicking at points in the video.

Wow I'm so glad I decided to check this out, I was going to get the rock foundry first, but I wanted to check out my options I heard the metal foundry and it wasn't really my taste, so I saw the name of this sdx and was instantly turned off, but after watching your review and to not pay attention to the name. I'm so glad I did. These kits sound PHENOMENAL

Kind of cool to have the sounds of Sean Reinert on your songs.

Especially after his passing, it’s nice to know that his drumming and sound will still in one way or another live on in many recordings

the "Black" Kit has the best KICK sound ever. Ofc all the other parts sounds good as well. I really need to save up for SD3. Running a Roland TD-17KVX kit so this would be perfect.

toontrack has released some great sdx in the past but this one is something special and so damn well recorded that you can easily use those drums on professional recordings from pop to death metal without a doubt and i dont know any other drum vst which sounds that realistic and detailed....kinda scary but great (for me^^) ps: mike du bist ja deutscher...da hätte ich mir mein english geschwafel ja sparen können...nun gut...zu spät :P
@buckycore Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I was gonna say this has some serious smack and BAP. You could rock some funk with these kits

Hi Mike, have been recently watching all your videos of SD3 and really like the Death and Darkness SDX especially those ambient rooms in the Death library. I have SD3 but only the core library and some midi packs. Do you have any tutorials or advice on how I can mimic the 'Abort' or 'Black' presets using the core library only?
@MikeLuke3 жыл бұрын
Hi Gareth, thanks for reaching out. Well, you cannot simply copy a preset from one library to another. The core library has a different room, different mics, different drums, a different mixing/recording console, a different engineer ... you name it. There is, however, a video from Toontrack in which they copied the "Black Album" drum sound using the core library drums. And as far as I remember, this preset is even included in the core library.

Hey bro, is there any way you'd be willing to share what midi velocities you're using for all the main hits and the softer hits in the rolls? For some reason superior drummer 3 I can't seem to get my programmed drum grooves to sound realistic.

Might bite on this when they discount it.

This is pretty new and probably won't be included in sales until at least 2024. You do you, but to me this library is well worth every penny.
@xplanet21123 жыл бұрын
@@XiyuYang I hummed and ahh’d about getting it more than once, almost bit a few times and the feedback from those that own it in the wild is positive so maybe one day. Cheers.

The name turned me off since I'm not into Metal in the slightest. After watching it, I feel Toontrack has generously named this SDX correctly. The drums and cymbals sound good with the exception of the kicks which sound like 808 circuits rapid firing with zero attack. But the package comes with midi packs that I probably wouldn't deploy overall. Maybe I'm missing something, but to me, this is just for metal heads???
@MikeLuke4 жыл бұрын
Hi Fred, well, when you watch and listen to the presets ... yeah, you might get that impression. The core and unprocessed sounds will fit to every genre though. So I wouldn't say this is just for metal heads, but it's leaning towards them, I might add here. :)

The Death&Darkness SDX, without a doubt

Oh, death and darkness - it's by far the best sounding drums Toontrack has put out. Not only for metal - it's extremely versatile.. I'd say you could easily mix som excellent jazz, blues and pop with some of the kits

Hmm, das klingt durchaus plausibel, zumal das Preset „Black“ von Toontrack kommt. 🤔
