Thanks another great video! Yes, Tooth of the Arrow's on my wish list, but first I have to fix the Barnett Raptor FX and get it shooting well! I too like Jon Lusk he does have the very best broadhead testing on KZbin! However he doesn't shoot crossbows, he's exclusively a compound bow tester. That said he's extremely knowledgeable and responsive to questions left in the comments.

As always a brilliant performance sir with your assessment of the is assessment of the tooth of the arrow broadhead,, I will be shooting the 150 grain solid 1" this season,, Haven't quite figured out which crossbow I will be shooting that specific broadhead out of this year considering I am shooting 4 broadheads this year,, one out of each of my killer instinct bows,, alternating each hunt with a different bow,, However I did a broadhead destruction test with them last year and I was floored at how they performed and their durability,,, Lusk Archery Adventure does a fantastic job doing broadhead tests, I thoroughly enjoy watching his videos and his tests,, Especially the cinder block,,lol I should have narrowed down my bow to my broadheads in about a week and will do testing as far as accuracy goes with whatever specific broadhead I shoot with whatever specific bow,,

Love it, Ty! Definitely interested to see how those 1" solids perform for ya.

Nicely presented 👍…It just so happens that tooth of the arrow is my arrow of choice with 6 🦌 deer harvested in the past 5 years . .I’m a senior citizen and use a crossbow and ground blind..You didn’t say too much about foc but I assumed that kinetic energy is part of your approach. Coupled with accuracy, it’s a great approach. Good luck 🍀 this fall and be safe ..
@draggindeeroutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Robert! Yes, FOC is certainly the goal. If you watch the video where I built the arrows you’ll get a few more details on the total setup. In short, the arrows w/ 150 grain heads are right at 20% FOC.

I was told by tooth of the arrow staff that out of my Ravin R10 crossbow that they recommend the 1" vented because the vented is more forgiving than the soild. So you might want to do another 60 yard testing with the tooth of the arrow 1" vented . I like when people do the long yardage testing it tells how well the broadheads really do fly. Just wish someone would do a 60 yard shoot maybe in a ballistic jel with a deer scapula or something that resembles it to really see what kind of penetration a broadhead has. Have you tested the QAD Exodus swept crossbow broadhead?? Especially at 60 yards?
@draggindeeroutdoors2 жыл бұрын
I agree, the 1" vented head should shoot better out of an xbow. But, was fun to try the bigger solid. I have not tried a QAD Exodus, but I know they are exceptional heads. Glad you liked the video, Eugene!

Good test. I shoot a wicked ridge 400 decock crossbow. I ordered the 100 gr v XL 1 3/16.. I thought i was ordering the 100 gr 1 inch. Do i need too get the 100 gr 1 inch vented?
@draggindeeroutdoors Жыл бұрын
Honestly not sure. I personally would probably try the 1” solids, the small cutting diameter will probably be fine without vents. That’s an assumption though, I haven’t shot the 1” version.

Tooth of the arrow heads seem to group well, I don’t care if they don’t group with field points. I sight in with my hunting heads! Thr vented heads also group better out of my ten point siege 410. Tough n accurate n I can sharpen them, I will be using them this year starting with turkeys. I’m shooting the one in heads.

I was looking at the Slick Trick ss3 broadhead 100 grain solids, however, I was told by some pretty reliable folks that these heads CANNOT be shoot out of a crossbow because of OD at the insert causing some type of "shelf" that causes erratic arrow flight. Have you heard anything like this?
@draggindeeroutdoors2 жыл бұрын
I'm guessing what you're friends are talking about is the ferrule of the head is smaller than the diameter of a crossbow bolt, creating a "shelf" where the broadhead meets the insert. This could cause poor flight and will certainly hinder penetration.

Is that the block 6x6? Do you recommend it for broadheads? If not what target do you recommend? I'm going to try magnus stingers in my burner 415....after I get the limbs fixed😡
@draggindeeroutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Yes that’s the block 6x6! I’ve had it two years and I’ve been very happy with it. Depending on the head some arrows may bury to the fletching but it’s stopped everything I’ve shot at it so far!

I've been watching your reviews for a long while , what you've run into is that at the speeds you're bolts are flying it's causing severe planing, nothing you can do that will fix this believe me I've tried , I shoot sevres 2.0 now they fly great as do just about most mechanicals, I love fixed blade heads period, just can't get them to fly .

Thanks, Richard! Hold tight, I have a big fixed blade that is flying almost identical to my field points 😉

You're welcome to do that! There are however fixed blades that fly very close field points. Check out the magnus stinger @ 60 yards video ;)
