I was excited to find this video as this is one of the heads I have been considering.

I bought the Ranch Fairy 200gr version of that, I got the 344 Stay sharp sharpener to have a sharper edge,at 44 degrees instead of 60 degrees. I use them in my recurve bow though.

100gr rage hypodermic here. Love them and have had nothing but success from my excalibur bows with them.

Yes build some arrows, love to see 40 yard groups? Tough looking head! A little pricey but if you can reuse that helps!

Thanks, Dean! They’re an awesome head. I’ll do more 40 yard shooting in my videos this year. Appreciate the feedback!

My initial thoughts: it might prove a little less prone to planing with three blades as opposed to two but it would likely sacrifice some penetration and bone breaking ability.

Google some of the other broadhead tests out there. There are some where three blades were blowing whitetail shoulders into pieces and penetrating deeper than 2 blades.

Are your arrows spine indexed? I would turn the nock of your naughty arrow. The Swat series of bow greatly minimizes archers paradox, but on certain arrows you can still benefit from nock tuning them. Nice work by the way! I would like to try shooting these with my LabRadar chrono and get accurate B.C. values. It would be interesting to see how draggy this fixed broadhead is.
@draggindeeroutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Hey Brian! I nock/paper tuned each of them. All three were money for my field point test, the problematic one definitely has fletching contact now in the X1 barrel (won’t drop into the trigger freely). I’m going to play with these heads more, like I said in the video they check pretty much every box for what I’m looking for. If you test them too let me know what you find 👍

Spine indexing your bolts makes them much more consistent from bolt to bolt.

Some one just recommended you channel for me because I’m in the process of trying to go to heavy weight one piece broadheads as well I just got the VPA archery version of those in a 300 grain and can’t get them to hit the broadside of a barn at 30 yards are they just to heavy and long to fly well at higher speeds or are there any tips you can give me
@draggindeeroutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Hey Karla. A lot of factors could play into this. Shoot me an email, draggindeer@gmail.com. I'll do my best to help ya!

If your fletchings impact your target you can put them in hot water like boiling or just under and roll the arrow the fletching with return to its original shape and remove the wrinkles.
@draggindeeroutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I need to try that. Otherwise I’ll just re-fletch it!

Are you sure that it is machined? It looks almost like it’s more of a forge operation, with heat treat, finish machining, and sharpening after the ceramic coating. I’m not sure, but that would be an awful lot of machining to keep it affordable.
@draggindeeroutdoors Жыл бұрын
100% sure it’s machined and yes…its a lot of machine time for Tuffhead. They’re expensive heads but they’re awesome!

You should try the Valkyrie broadheads

Those are cool heads!

They are a pain to sharpen and were super dull when received.
@mikeman2302 жыл бұрын
Those are great broad heads. But they constantly created fliers. I think they catch the air because the arrow isn’t spinning.

They are absolute 👌 out of my compound. Stingers are going staying with the crossbow.

How do these stack up against the VPA 150 grain? Overall length the same? Does the VPA and the Tuff Head have the same bevel? Curious to see how they would group at 40 yards. Good review.👍🏻
@draggindeeroutdoors2 жыл бұрын
VPA makes great heads no doubt. I don’t have any VPA’s though to do a side by side. My guess…is any non-vented, longer profile 3 blade is probably going to “fly heavy” due to the amount of blade surface area/drag.

Seems to be an indestructible set up.
@andyjones39342 жыл бұрын
@@draggindeeroutdoors I agree with the drag factor. But that seems a small price to pay for above average penetration. Not too mention the durability of the head itself as opposed to mechanicals or even vented heads. Looking forward to a video of these being used on deer and larger game!!

About 25 yers ago I convinced a custom knifemaker to build me a knife using S7. It took an edge like no other knife i've owned. I cut myself every time I handled it.
@draggindeeroutdoors2 жыл бұрын
S7 is legit on these heads too. Very sharp out of the box.

Wondering why 60 yards? In my opinion this test and the last one didn't group very well. Why not shoot at 40 yards if that's you comfortable range?
@draggindeeroutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Hey John, great question. I did a video on how I built these arrows and how they grouped @ 60 yards: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qIu7qaZ9mpxplcU Since I measured the field point group at 60, I wanted to test the broadheads at the same distance.

@@draggindeeroutdoors gotcha, I definitely can't wait for the next video. I'm going to be running the magnus stingers this year.
@jaysunkreuze14662 жыл бұрын
I'm not a fan of any 3 blade. I've shot everything over the years and settled on a 200 grain single bevel. It's just superior in every way.
