I don't agree that for awards to be popular, they need to have successful mainstream movies as winners. The Best Movie award shouldn't necessarily go to the one with the biggest box office. Artistic success isn't measured by the amount of dollars a movie brings in.
@smythharris2635Күн бұрын
Agreed, but you then have a problem. Who measures artistic success? How? By what metric?
@EnsignRedshirtRickyКүн бұрын
Perhaps but you cannot have a popular awards show that only highlights the most unpopular examples in-class (for whatever they are referencing). So you can have artistic merit winning in some categories, but when you see the clearly superior losing to the vastly inferior you will quickly lose interest. Politics and Entertainment do not mix very well, and corruption ends many systems.

Completely agree. If anyone wants a popular vote, head to social media - your groups will generally agree with your views.

They need to be movies people have seen. No one watched Moonlight or whatever Oscar-bait movie actually won.

It's not a popularity contest, but you need SOME movies that are popular enough so that regular folks tune into the show.

What you guys are missing is that Bob Iger desperately wants to be a Tech CEO and has been trying to transform Disney into a tech company. You have to keep that in mind.

Personally, it doesn't matter to me who wins golden globe awards (or any other awards). I just want to see if anybody is ripping hollywood a new one, like Ricky Gervais did.

A base 10 system for science and measurements is dumb!? Yes, so very hard to figure out guys 😂.
@imaxinsertnounherexКүн бұрын
It's dumb that they tried to force it on us when we didn't want it, not the system itself.

We did not fight a revolution to break away from Europe only to have them recolonize us with their symmetrical measurements! This is America, land of the free to use whatever illogical system we want and scoff at all others as inferior! 😂

Almost all Americans think so. And I can't fathom why they think the decimal system is so incomprehensible. It's the easiest thing in the world!

Most of the people who settled the New World before it became America were screwed over by the system somehow. So for quite awhile Americans deviated from all the old systems that made them outcase in their original countries. Protestant/Catholic Sunday/Monday week starts Month.Date.Year/Year.Month.Day Sex taboo/Violence taboo Liberty/Authoritarianism/Collectivism Free speech/Proscribed speech Imperial/Metric The last one probably mostly came about as a way to keep a little more of their own money rather than fully paying taxes they didn't agree with. I'm sure it was more attractive to pay tax on a pound of salt than it was to pay taxes on a kilo of salt... Once they could agree on the conversion rates.

1:09:56 Back in the day, he used to wear a hat that said, *_It's "Rafe"_* on movie sets. /ɹeɪf/ is the original UK English pronunciation. /ɹælf/ on the other hand, is the newer English pronunciation. In his case, it's *Ralph Fiennes* /reɪf ˈfaɪnz/.
