Lots of things use that pres and plug in method. I had to do that to reset a TV once.

Many thanks. I have a Kata Box that would not boot up. Pressing the reset button with a paper clip and holding it down while plugging the power, it entered the update mode and after about 3 minutes, it was already running. Great info!

well, I have no experience with that device. Maybe their hard reset works differently. Its unfortunate that it is a Chinese made knock off device. There is probably not a lot of support for it.

I have the T95Z Plus Android 12.0 TV Box. Was booting to Home Screen like it should. Now boots to KODI. Do I attempted the reset as done here. My Android box will not power on while holding the reset button and power at the same time. My version does not have a power button so I use the remote controls on/off button.

Did you try deleting kodi? Is Kodi essential to your setup? You probably clicked an option somewhere in settings. In general kodi makes a good starting point for an Android box.

@@thestreamingadvisor Well after looking the remote controller closer I saw a key that read APP never saw that before cause I had not used the device that long. That took me to the screen that showed all the applications. Soooooo I accessed the Google Play Store and deleted all the applications I installed including the pre installed KODI ceot for one other. Rebooted device. Device booted up perfectly. So we are good. I did reinstall KODI just for giggles and wiggles. I reinstalled that after I rebooted the device.

Most of the time they will work with dongle base remote.

You can if it has the button in the same place. I haven’t used the specific box you are referring to. But this has been a pretty uniform thing with Android boxes.

Yes there is a difference. The big one is that it is needed to flash new firmware, which a lot of folks who get Android boxes like to do. Factory resets just set the box up the way it came out of the packaging.

Oh no, you bought one of those things? I mean It might work. I don't know if it has firmware installed correctly so that you will be able to reload it. In general I stick with the sort of mainstream ones. If I was trying to get heavy into Android apps I would go with an Nvidia Shield pro, because it has enough ports to use keyboards and air mouses, enough ram and HD space to get you started and the ability to use external HD. Plus it will have US based hardware support. If I was going the small white label route I would get something with as much RAM as I could find and make sure the Android OS on it was not 3-4 generations behind.

All of a sudden when I plug-in my HDMI cable to my TV and select the input remote button, select HDMI 1 and the screen turns blank. I have tried a new HDMI cable, but I still get the same result.
