My Little Pony's Worst Episodes

I had this script written a while back and decided to finish it after a Twitter poll concluded, that you all wanted to see it turned into a video. I'm trying a new format to make videos quicker and better. I don't know if it will work considering irl keeps me busy, but I love making pony videos. :)

“28 pranks later” is an episode I hate endlessly! How Rainbow Dash doesn’t feel guilty at all for upsetting her friends with her pranking. Especially Fluttershy who she KNOWS has anxiety issues and even laughs at her crying in fear. They basically turned Rainbow Dash into an insensitive bully! Seriously, WTF??

I also thought it was a little over the top - RD wouldnt behave like that to this extreme extend - she would maybe play a few pranks here and there, but this episode went completely overboard and portrayed her as an asshat who isnt aware of anything around her

Because he would have been the fucking hero clearing the snow (which is the biggest problem for yaks) Which would have upset the Yacks by suggesting their lifestyle wasn't perfect, either that or Prince Rutherford would have felt overshadowed (that jerk isn't easy to deal with).

The problem with the Mare do well episode is how dangerous Ponyville suddenly becomes, with its residents plunging down steep cliff-top roads at very turn & unsafe buildings. Makes you wonder what the average weekly death toll is.

Legit hated Suited for Success, I get that the whole episode was supposed to teach Rarity to not overwork herself and have the other mares be grateful but just the fact that they were taking advantage of Rarity's generosity and situation because she was stressed over a fashion show just to have her absolutely humiliated at said show because they thought they knew better than the fashion expert.

The ponies never had bad intentions, you just don't know how much work it takes to make something, and if they offer to customize it to your liking, you may end up suggesting things that don't make sense (it's not your area of expertise). In fact, the ponies tried several times to reject the offer, but Rarity insisted. Part of the final lesson was also for Rarity, who learned that she had to trust herself more.

IMO, episodes like Non Compete Clause and Applejack's Day Off highlight how FiM was NOT intended for the direction it ultimately went into. Both of these feel like Season One episodes, where the girls were just flippant and learning about each other. So it made sense that they would be quicker to fight and beat on each other, the bond wasn't fully there. By Season 8, the girls are ambassadors of friendship, basically Equestria's guardians, and teachers of a new generation. If they're going to have fights _now,_ they need to have very strong reasoning behind them. When the Mane 6 have petty disagreements, it feels like selective amnesia. You KNOW Rainbow Dash and Rarity are better than being such bad examples for their students. You KNOW Applejack is smarter than that. If all of these episodes were still in the early age, they would be so much more forgivable. The ponies went from little girls needing to learn lessons to grown women who flip between emotionally mature and complete Karens.

@@alejandrootero8894 I agree with the episode's message itself (That people shouldn't brag too much about their accomplishments), it's just that the episode presented that message in a very hypocritical way. The hypocrisy is that the other members of the Mane 6, in their attempt to teach Rainbow Dash a lesson, were subtly doing the exact same thing they were mad at Rainbow for doing. SPOILERS! Early on, in praising Mare- Do- Well's accomplishments, Pinkie Pie praises how fast and agile Mare- Do- Well was when saving the construction workers from the falling bricks. Applejack then praises the great strength Mare- Do- Well showed when stopping the runaway bus. Rarity praises Mare- Do- Well's stylish costume. Lastly, Twilight praises Mare- Do- Well's apparent knowledge of magic shown when fixing the dam. In the end of the episode, when it's revealed that Mare- do- Well was actually each of the other members of the Mane 6 in disguise to get Rainbow to stop bragging, it turns out that they themselves were doing the things they were praising "Mare- do- Well" for doing. Pinkie was the one who saved the construction workers using her Pinkie- Sense so she was really bragging about her own speed/ agility, Applejack was the one who stopped the bus so she was really bragging about her own strength, Rarity designed the Mare- do- Well costumes so she was really bragging about her own skills as a fashion designer, and Twilight was the one who used her magic to fix the dam, so she was really bragging about her own magical knowledge. In short, while claiming to want to teach Rainbow Dash that bragging is wrong, they were themselves subtly bragging about their own skills! That's hypocritical.

Honestly, I hate every Applejack centered episode, despite AJ literally being my favorite character. First off, there’s not many episodes that actually center around HER alone. The only one I can think of is maybe Apple Family Reunion? Other than that it’s always AJ and another pony, or other ponies talking about AJ. And second off, AJ EPISODES ALWAYS MAKE HER OUT TO BE A COMPLETE IDIOT. Like usually, she’s smart, resourceful, caring, helpful. And in her own episodes, all that gets thrown out the window. I really wish we got more good episodes of my favorite character. I really miss her..

I totally agree. Applejack is a great character! I mean she has a great personality and she's a really likable character! She's great when she's more of a supporting character, but when it comes time to give her an episode that centers around her, it just comes out kinda meh. I also really wish we got better episodes in the end since the writers have shown time and again that they can give good episodes to the other mane six.

I personally thought Non-Compete Clause cuz it’s just Fall Weather Friends but wrong because in FWF they were only hindering each other and the friendship was still somewhat new. But in season 8 they were hurting students and themselves and they’re supposed to be really tight now.

Im still working on my own retrospective, but I believe season 8 is pretty overhated. It has bad episodes, sure, but I dont think theyre as bad as, say, season 2 or season 7 episodes. Anyhow, Im glad that none of your worst episodes are Starlight Glimmer focused because shes basically the best character in the series.

About 2,4,6 great, here’s the thing that many people aren’t realizing. There’s a HUGE difference between cheerleading and cheering. Rainbow dash wasn’t teaching Fluttershy CHEERLEADING, she was teaching her how to CHEER. Chearling doesn’t just involve just shouting, it involves acrobatics, tricks and pom-poms. HUGE DIFFERENCE!

I agree that Gauntlet of fire is great and one of the best overall, but that doesn't make Dragon Quest bad, it was written in an earlier stage and by the standards of the time, it was pretty rough and great.

You should not teach people, especially children, that the solution to colonialism and pushing Natives off their land is "well maybe we should just share." That epsiode goes beyond creating issues with characters' development and is just straight up problematic.

I can't believe I didn't think about FiM's anti-native aspects until Twitter spelled it out for me. 😣 The colonizers basically got their way in the end, and the natives just have to peacefully deal with it because "violence is bad!" The land gets used for apple trees and the buffalo now have to walk a longer path in the heat, how the fuck is that a compromise???? But my favorite part is how you NEVER see the buffalo again. FiM laid claim to every single other species with hooves and brought them to the school as representatives of different cultures, but to my memory, there wasn't one single buffalo. There was such a missed opportunity to at least bring Little Strongheart back. But no, instead spread the message that native Americans have no place in society's schools, great job.

Does anyone have any particular reason to love this god-awful episode? I thought it was first fine, but after rewatching it just leaves an icky feeling, and don't get me started on the lesson. The demographic for mlp is kids and something you shouldn't teach people (especially children), is that the solution to pushing Natives off their land is sharing! With so many activists, this already looks like Twitter. The ponies didn't expel or colonize anyone, they just moved and planted their trees on land they had no idea was sacred. The conflict is resolved with the Buffaloes renting part of the land on the condition that they will have a path for their sacred journey and a daily supply of Apple Pies. A pretty fair deal if you ask me. If I were a native and watched the episode, I would be happy to see my people portrayed as brave warriors defending their land, as well as reasonable landowners willing to talk and negotiate. The problem for many is that continue to see the native people as wild, defenseless animals that live in the forest and pray to the trees. When the natives of the past were a glorious conglomeration of tribes that after the "conquest", participated in important historical events and stood out in many areas of the construction of this continent, and if we talk about the natives of the present, many of them have casinos and have more money than all of you agreed, I hope those natives do not read your comments, because it would give them immense embarrassment.

I think “a royal problem” and “she talks to angel” are literally the same episode : Two characters argue, they don’t think their work is hard enough. Some pony break trough and switches their two roles. Then discover that their solemates role is pretty hard. And after that they forgive their self. I never thought of any episodes being that bad, but I will say there were quite a lot of shocking moments and reveals in the show, especially during Season 9 such as Celestia and Luna choosing to retire and put Twilight in charge of ruling Equestria as well as the reveal that Smolder and Garble are siblings.

I must say you misunderstood the plot of Rockhoof episode. Twilight kept rejecting Rockhoof's "suicide" proposal, and even got angry because of it. Later, Twilight said sadly that she had a spell, and another quote said "Will you please reconsider ?" This is very different from Twilight just saying "OK" like you describe.

The issue here is that Twilight ave up on trying to help him and almost went along with it if the students didn't intervene. It is so out of character for Twilight to just give up that quickly on someone, compare what she did with Rockhoof to what she went through to convince Starlight in the 5 finale. I always hated Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000 because of Applejack's "I was right all along!". No Applejack, you were dumb and stupid and things only worked out in your favour because everyone else was even dumber and stupider. It felt like the writers just came up with the "I didn't learn anything!" gag and were so keen to use it that they just stuck it in whatever episode they were working on at the time rather than actually write an episode around it.

And just like Applejack, i would do whatever could to try and save her from that mess she got himself into (or in this case, she got her entire family into).

​@@alejandrootero8894 If the Apples had partnered up with the Brothers, literally everyone would have been better off. The Brothers gain a lucrative business partnership. Keep in mind that despite being portrayed as con artists, the machine actually did exactly what it was advertised to do - create high quality cider at a much faster rate. It only stopped when they deliberately turned off the quality control for the purposes of the contest, something they wouldn't have to do during a normal business day. The customer base finally has the supply to match their demand, meaning fewer have to go without. And the Apples are finally able to keep up with the demand. Even taking into account the 75/25 split proposed by the Brothers; if using the machine quadruples their sales (a very real possibility from what we saw), they're breaking even on profit while gaining a more satisfied customer base. Anything more than that and they're actually making more than they used to. And even that's assuming they don't even try to bargain for a better deal; which, considering they control the raw supply, they have all the power in the world to do. If they had partnered, everyone involved would have benefited from it. Instead, they pull a "The old ways are always better because Reasons", only guaranteeing the problems will continue in the future.

Luna Eclipsed is one of my least favorites. Turning into Nightmare moon is later revealed to be Luna’s biggest fear, and in the episode she mentions that people still think of her like that. And the resolution is her changing into Nightmare to get the others to like her, which contrasts the moral of so many other episodes. And Pinkie Pie was so rude towards Luna, I know Pinkie didn’t know Luna was hurt but she should’ve apologized instead of Luna caving in.

Pinkie didn't want to be rude, she just thought that Luna was participating in Nightmare's night like everyone else, which is what she should have done, and in the end she did, that was the lesson, not to be so serious, get in the mood. without forcing others to love you, if not letting them do so over time while you integrate into their customs. That's what good leaders do.

The good thing with bad episodes is, at least it's quite fun to watch videos talking about them! For me the episodes I dislike are usually the ones where a character does a lot of harm and damage around them in the name of "funny slapstick" but somehow are still the ones who are "right" in the end. Mixing slapstick comedy and life lesson is possible indeed but they shouldn't contradict each other, and sometimes even the best writers fail at it...

Finally! Time to watch this video. I don't really get into these best worst episode debates (because if you put enough Bronies in a room there will be someone in there that will tell you that they hate whatever episode of the show you just mentioned), but I was curious to seen how you would do a video like this. The only opinion I can leave is: A lot of the later MLP:FIM episodes felt to me like season one episodes that just didn't got made back then and got repurposed later near the end of the show.

theres probably a couple more out there i didnt like, but the only one i can think of currently (other than every equestria girls movies after rainbow rocks,) dragonshy comes to mind. the whole episode was just all of fluttershys friends treating her like shit for being scared instead of understanding her and being nice to her to help her cope. as an autistic person i heavily relate to fluttershy because. i mean.. dont even get me started on my ramble about autism rep, intentional or not, in the show. fluttershy is very clearly autistic, at least for me, wether it was intentional or not, and seeing how all her friends treated her in that episode (especially rainbow dash, but the many.. many... MANy.. other times theyre rude to her for no reason in other episodes..) just made me feel awful, having experienced the exact same things as her time and time again countlessly for being autistic and acting exactly like her because of being autistic. also, just how it just feels super out of character for the mane 6 to be so mean. like, THEY DIDNT EVEN ADDRESS IT AFTERWARDS AT THE END OF THE EPISODE!!! THIS IS THE SHOW ABOUT LEARNING ABOUT HOW FRIENDSHIP WORKS!!! OH! another episode i hated was the episode where starlight and sunburst have to go see their parents, i forgot the title right now but i HATED IT. THEIR PARENTS LITERALLY JUST GUILT TRIP THEM WHEN THEY SHOW THEY WANT SPACE. THE PARENTS WERE GENUINELY BEING ANNOYING AND NOT RESPECTING THEIR KIDS, BUT BOOOOHOOOOO THEYRE YOUR FAMMMMILLLY SO SHAME ON YOU FOR WANTING SPACE. holy shit. the fact they didnt even address the parents behavior when they guilt tripped them. as someone with parents worse than that who use guilt tripping a LOT, IT WAS SO FUKCING ANNOYING AAAAHHHH okay again sorry for that tangent LOL

Funny you mention Honest Apple and that Rarity & AJ breaking up their freindship would be more realistic in S1. S1E8"Look Before you Sleep" did that exact thing and god what a terrible episode that was. Everyone is written to be an idiot and it's absolutely infuriating to watch. Lightning Round: S1E06 "Boast Busters" The Mane 6 get angry at a stage magician for showing off (wich is litteraly her job) and Snips, Snails and their single collective braincell put the whole town in danger. S1E08 "Look before you Sleep" Everyone in this episode is written like an idiot. S1E21 "Over a Barrel" Is one I don't like the implications of. S2E06 "The Cutie Pox" is boring filler. S2E15 "Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000" has the Apples being dumb. S2E23"Ponyville Confidental" has the CMC acting way too meanspirited in my opinion. S2E24 "MMMistery on the Freindship Express" is a Detective story where they don't show you the clues and Pinkie is an idiot. S3E04 "One Bad Apple" Is the worst episode of the show IMO. Babs gets away with being a bully for being bullied herself and the CMC get punished for standing up to her. S4E10 "Rainbow Falls" fails right out of the gate with a stupid setup (Why are Fluttershy & Bulk Biceps her teammates, It ruins the premise). S4E14 "Filli Vanilli" Has Pinkie being so unaware abut Fluttershy's anxiety she basically becomes the villain of the episode. S4E22 "Trade Ya!" RD gladly trades away Fluttershy... Yeah, that happend. S5E03 "Castle Sweet Castle" The Mane 6 are written as idiots again, learning a lesson they sould have learned in like S1. Song is mid too. S5E11 "Party Pooped" Yes, the one where the Yaks act like jerks. S6E14 "The Cart Before the Ponies" Where AJ, RD and Rarity act like jerks & idiots towards the CMC. S6E22 "P.P.O.V.(Pony Point Of View)" Has Rarity, AJ and Pinkie acting extremely vindictive against each other. S7E15 "Triple Threat" is another episode that does Spike dirty, JUST TALK TO THEM!!! S8E04 "Fake it 'Till you make it" Has Fluttershy just going off the rails for no reason. S8E17 "The End in Freind" has 2 of the mane 6 being childish idiots again (RD & Rarity this time). S9E03 "Uprooted" has a contrived conflict again. S9E16 "A Trivial Pusuit" is needless and boring filler. I remember NOTHING about this episode. S9E22 "Growing Up is Hard to Do" has the CMC revert back to their S1 personalities and it's INFURIATING. Still love the show tough, But not every episode can be perfect.

To me A Matter of Principals is the worst episode. Discord is a complete jerk to Starlight and we’re supposed to side with him in it? Not to mention he endangers the students as well as the mane 6 just so that he can do all this BS. Then in the end Starlight was at fault? This is the episode that I’ll never understand why it got approved of. I consider it to be not just the worst episode of MLP, but the worst episode of any of my favorite shows. I’m genuinely shocked that isn’t the lowest rated episode instead of Non Compete Clause. (Although I do agree that that one sucked too)

I would love the in-depth review of worst MLP Episode. It's just one thing or two, what about the others? The episode I hate the most? Amending Fences. It goes against Twilight's backstory and character (she is destined to be a good friend as seen in the first episode, it doesn't make sense she is a bad friend), Moondancer is an hypocrite (she says that she friendship doesn't work to her while the three others friends shows up to the party and act like a victim while she cuts off her friendship to those who did nothing wrong), Twilight's "old circle" are actual bad friends (they are seen in Ponyville but doesn't interact to Twilight and how come Twilight doesn't learn anything about friendship with them until she meets the mane 5?) and is a bad love letter to Lauren Faust.

Honestly, the only Episode that heavily focuses on Spike that is good is ‘The Times They Are A Changeling’, where we are introduced into one of the most adorable characters, Thorax. ‘Spike At Your Service’ annoyed me, just cause it didn’t really do anything for the characters and just felt like filler. Also, these two I don’t mind, because they shine new light on Garble and Ahuizotl, but I just wish we saw them grow to earn the redemptions in ‘Sweet and Smokey’ and ‘Daring Doubt’.

If A Rockhoof and a Hard Place is anything to go by, they wouldn't be able to handle the topic well, and that's ignoring the fact that suicide is just too dark for a show that, ultimately, is for 6 years olds. Also there's "Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep?", where Luna's self-afflicted nightmares could be seen as self harm, and they resolve it by...essentially having Twilight go "Don't do that, bestie!" and that's enough to get Luna to stop. Just like that. They would not be able to handle it well. This franchise exists to sell toys of pastel coloured ponies to children, it should stay in its lane.

From what I've heard, people despised Dragon Dropped, not because of the sinking of Sparity, but because of how Rarity was portrayed. In other words, her behavior was being compared to an obsessive lover, if not a pedophile, considering the age difference between Rarity (an adult), and Spike (an adolescent). But I haven't seen Dragon Dropped; I've only HEARD things about it. I despise Yakitty Sax more because of it combining reverting Pinkie back to Season 1 and breaking the core of who she is, combined with what I'd consider an offensively bad take on depression. It's kind of like Rockhoof and a Hard Place, except for whatever reason, I don't recall despising that episode nearly as much.

I actually watched Dragon Dropped for the first time in a while just yesterday. I really wouldn't go far enough to use P3d0ph1l3 but do agree on the "obsessive friend" part. It's uncomfortable, I'm not a fan and considering the episode came out late into the show's lifespan you'd think they'd know better to write an episode going into the territory of stalking, love bombing (** love bombing is a manipulation tactic that involves constant compliments and gifts and attention to keep someone in a relationship.) and so on.

Ponyville Confidential had some bad aspects about it to me. For how the entire town went on the brink of a lockdown over 3 kids getting blackmailed, and diamond tiara practically got no punishment for her actions. Something I liked about it was how Rarity changed up so quickly after the gossip eventually happened to her. I also liked how it was pointed out that when a situation like this happens to someone else, it doesn't; really matter/pushed aside. But when it eventually happens to you, you start to understand why it might matter. While it isn't the worst episode to me, it's still pretty weird/meh. Maybe I should give twilight time a re-watch, I forgot basically everything that happened in it other than the plot. :/

Over A Barrel is easily one of my least favorites, just for the fact that it was intended to be a weird allegory for when colonizers first came to what's now known as America and took the land from the people who already lived here. About your point with Equestria Games, it was a good episode, but it shouldn’t have been the whole conclusion to the Equestria Games arc! Imo it would have been better if it was like a mini season in which there were multiple episodes focusing on each character and their role in the Equestria Games, all leading to a thrilling conclusion episode of the final day of the Games, rather than cramming it all in one episode that focused on Spike The current Equestria Games episode worked well as Spike’s part of the story, and it would have been nice if there were additional episodes focusing on the CMC, Fluttershy and Rainbow, and Twilight. There’s a lot of potential for a whole story arc of the characters at the Games! It really didn’t work well as a one part episode. Basically it had the same flaws as Magical Mystery Cure which was a good concept ruined by it being a one part episode, though Equestria Games was a much better episode imo I liked the episode, it just had some missed potential

Magical Mystery Cure was a great concept but not fleshed out enough, it would have been better as an hour long special than a one parter, so much was crammed into a normal length episode when such an important plot point should be told in an hour. I feel bad for Applejack and Spike, they’re great characters but tend to get the worst episodes- however when an episode about them is good, it’s REALLY good. The Perfect Pear is honestly one of the BEST episodes of the entire series, hooves down, with one of the best songs in the series as well. Minus Rainbow Dash bullying Spike at the beginning and Peewee never really appearing again, Dragon Quest was a pretty good episode that explored Spike’s character very well. Power Ponies and Gauntlet of Fire were excellent too.

I gave up watching the show at S7 so this is from my memory and YT clips: -Trade Ya took itself literally and Twilight the Princess of f*ckin Friendship approved it had me in a dilemma for days. -Yakity Sax was dumb as hell. Everyone in Ponyville is annoyed by the yovidphone because it was loud and played for hours on end. Even if it was well played it would still be annoying. She should have learned to not take criticism deeply instead of her friends calling for an encore of bad tunes at the end. -A Matter of Principals cemented me not liking Discord. He sabotaged the other subs and goaded Starlight into losing her temper in front of the students just because he was jealous. That Kamehameha was deserved. Why he was offered a teaching position after all that bs is beyond me.

However, what was the deal that these ponies had with the master of chaos to have a truce and for him to stay away without spreading chaos as he always wanted? That they were his friends. Who fulfilled the deal? Discord and Fluttershy... and no one else. (We could count the time that Celestia invited him to the gala, but it was only to make it more interesting) Whenever the ponies planned something they avoided including Discord. they never write or call him except when they need his help. That's not a friend if you ask me. However, although Starlight enslaves a village of ponies and tries to destroy the friendship of the protagonists by traveling through time, she is forgiven (several times) made part of the group and invited to everything, including taking care of the school while they are traveling. If I were discord I would be jealous as hell too. Starlight broke the cycle of hate by inviting him to join.

This episode practically played that out. I understand that he's jealous of Starlight getting picked over him since she's done eviler but Starlight didn't do it again and got nicer. He betrayed the Mane 6 for Tirek after seasons of being 'good'. I literally had to relook up the episode name of this one, but Yakity Sax. S8 Ep18 Pinkie becomes obsessed w/ yak hoen instrument but is terrible at playing. So her friends all tell her to stop & it literally puts her in a depression. Why is this bad? Well because Pinkie is shown to have multiple passions + she literally turn into a whiny child over a new instrument when again l, this is PINKIE PIE. The mare who has multiple friends, passions, & hobbies. The episode ends with Pinkie getting her yak pipes or whatever they were back. Too me it's terrible bc it completely goes against her character to act this way.

This is true! I really don't like this episode, was even considering skipping it but decided to watch till the end. What a waste of my time! Firstly, I REALLY like Pinkie, she's the emotional support type of gal and does an awesome job at it! I don't want to see her being depressed for 20 minutes straight because the writers became too lazy in the writing department. She can sing an entire song about making people smile but then she has to make everyone miserable with the Yaxity sax to the point where people cannot do their jobs.. really guys? They really like going against her character, don't they! :/

Over A Barrel is really bad for obvious reasons. Even if I didn't see what was wrong with it as a kid, growing up and educating myself has made the episode EXTREMELY uncomfortable and insufferable to watch. They literally could have done ANYTHING ELSE for an episode about sharing. What About Discord hits too close to home for me due to trauma reasons and my fear of being left out. It's literally just Twilight being left out and sad for the entire episode and honestly Discord was a huge jerk for basically rubbing it in her face that she wasn't there to witness the inside jokes. Yakity-Sax is probably one of my least favorites ever because they completely DECIMATED Pinkie's character. And the moral is awful. Pinkie has many many things that make her happy and thrives off of making people smile,, but suddenly she finds this random instrument that makes others miserable and literally prevents them from sleeping and doing their jobs and apparently that's now more important to her than the happiness of others. The lesson shouldn't have been "Oh we were mean for saying you were bad at playing.". They should have come to some sort of compromise or have Pinkie stop playing the yovidophone because her friends' happiness is more important to her than some random instrument.

Agreed! When I first watched Over a Barrel, I didn't really notice what was wrong with it, but after rewatching mlp from s1 to s9, I can also agree with how it made me really uncomfortable. What About Discord was an okay episode to me. I liked the whole plot and how she felt left out and how they resolved it. I really liked the joke that Applejack made as well. I finished this show about 2 months ago and still remember it! It was like "What kind of fertilizer did you stick up your nose twilight?" or something like that. I disliked how it was so blatantly obvious that Discord was being a jerk, from the eye movements and word choices I'm surprised none of the characters except maybe Twilight noticed. The fact that you made a better lesson than the actual people who worked on the episode is just sad. Yakity-Sax is just an awful episode, there was an entire song about she likes to make people smile and the writers really thought 20 minutes of Pinkie making people miserable to the point where they can't do their jobs is just irritating to me. I really like pinkie pie, but episodes like this just ruin her for me. While I still really don't like newbie Dash because of the blatant bullying of rd, I gotta say this is a pretty bad episode!

@@randomhandleRAH The ponies didn't expel or colonize anyone, they just moved and planted their trees on land they had no idea was sacred. The conflict is resolved with the Buffaloes renting part of the land on the condition that they will have a path for their sacred journey and a daily supply of Apple Pies. A pretty fair deal if you ask me. If I were a native and watched the episode, I would be happy to see my people portrayed as brave warriors defending their land, as well as reasonable landowners willing to talk and negotiate.

Whether you like it or not this is a 1 to 1 portrayal of Natives vs Colonizers and if you were a native maybe you'd be able to realize that this is NOT how it goes at all and how insensitive this really is. No, the ponies who decided to take the land that never belonged to them are not the "landowners" . The point is that the Buffalo were there first and the land is theirs. The ponies should've never settled there in the first place and this entire topic was never suited for a kids cartoon.

I agree about season 8 that is easily the shows worst season. And I don't think season 9 is much better. I rarely watch any episodes from those two seasons these days with the exception of "Sounds of Silence", the only really good episode from those two seasons in my opinion.

Here's my personal picks for Top 5 Worst MLP: FIM Episodes with descriptions as to why I ranked them such: V. Putting Your Hoof Down AKA Everypony Be A D**K To Fluttershy: The majority of the characters were unbelievably mean spirited to Fluttershy in this episode for no reason then, when she goes to learn assertiveness, Fluttershy goes completely off the rails with how uncharacteristically aggressive she was towards others. This then leads up to her doing the most G-Rated version of an Eric Cartman burn against Pinkie and Rarity that was still hard for me to listen to the cruelty of the words behind it as I thought to myself "What the F**K were these writers thinking!?! How could they do this to my favorite character?" Worst Fluttershy episode ever and nearly made me question if I still liked her, but she at least redeemed herself in realizing she'd gone too far and experienced genuine remorse for her actions (which is more than I can say for certain other characters later on, but we'll get there). IV. Non-Compete Clause: Nice to see Fluttershy being as popular as she was with the students at the School Of Friendship to the point where she had 15-16 wins as Teacher Of The Month, but that's where any enjoyability ends. AJ and Rainbow being so obnoxiously competitive towards each other when they're supposed to be teaching the students about working as a group to the point where they're putting lives in danger is too much to have to suffer through for a 22 minute episode, but it just keeps going on and on and on and JUST SHUT UP ALREADY!!! III. A Matter Of Principals: Discord just assumes that he's gonna be put in charge of the School of Friendship in the Mane 6's absence when the Friendship Map summons all of them away despite never being given permission too then proceeds to insult Starlight Glimmer when she's put in charge and make her job a veritable hell. He acts like a jack**s with unfunny pranks that could potentially endanger students until Starlight finally agrees to let him work with her as head of the school, only for the Mane 6 to show up angrily talking about how Discord used the map to send them on a fake mission where they nearly got eaten by giant worms. This including Fluttershy who he "supposedly" "cares the most about" and he has no remorse for doing so. II. The Ending Of The End 2 Parter: This was not the strongest 2 Parter there could've been, but it's made worse by the fact that the villain of the whole season, Grogar, who was being built up as the ultimate threat was just Discord in disguise the whole time in a twist so mind numbingly braindead that it makes Shyamalan's worst twists look like philosophical deep dives into the human condition. It makes no sense from a story standpoint, was the worst decision the writers could've possibly made, and it retroactively makes the entire season terrible as every bad thing that happened didn't need to if Discord hadn't been an idiot and just done nothing. Not to mention the fact that after nearly destroying all of Equestria and nearly getting all the Mane 6 killed brcause of his stupidity, he gets absolutely no punishment for doing so and even gets to pass down judgement on those who he recruited for the dumb plan anyways. Though I don't agree with a lot of stuff he says, MisAnthro Pony went into better detail about how terrible the Grogar/Discord twist was than I could and they were wholeheartedly in the right with their analysis on the twist's idiocy so go check that out if you want to know my full thoughts on the matter. Ultimately, this was what ruined Discord as a character for me and made me lose any respect I might have had for the Fluttercord ship in general. I. Father Knows Beast: Oh sweet pony Jesus was this episode bad! Discord may have done some despicable things that he had no remorse for, but Sludge almost makes him look like a freakin saint in comparison... ALMOST! Sludge pretends to be Spike's father, exploiting the trust of a literal child in order to manipulate Spike into giving up his own luxuries for Sludge's own benefit. Then when Twilight expresses concern for Spike, he uncharacteristically lashes out at her, literally breaking the heart of the mare who's practically raised him his whole life, only to find out from a friend that HE was the one who was wrong the whole time. THEN when they confront Sludge, he admits that he lied to him, but tries to excuse his behavior as a "dragon stereotype" with no remorse for his actions and exploiting a child's trust. I didn't even finish watching the episode after that scene, I was just DONE! The episode was painfully predictable, Sludge was the worst... THING that has ever been in an MLP episode, and it's the only one I never bothered to watch all the way through out of the 200+ episode run of the series. People say Chancellor Neighsay was the worst character of Season 8 (or the whole series depending on who you ask), but I say Sludge is still worse. 1. Neighsay was voiced by legendary VA Maurice LaMarche and 2. Yes he was a racist, bigoted jackwagon, but he at least saw the error of his ways come the Season 8 finale and even came to the Mane 6's aid in the Battle for Equestria in The Ending Of The End. Where was Sludge in all of this? Nowhere. He has no redeemable qualities to him whatsoever and was a waste of an episode and character animation.

Newbie Dash will always be my most disliked episode. They took Dashie's biggest moment and made it into a low tier gag-humor episode with a really poor lesson at the end. It was the one episode that left me feeling crappy after watching it. That one and '28 pranks later' both felt like S1 rehashes but in turbo mode.

After around 15 minutes in she realizes what she has done and went to lock herself in her house, the assertive side of her personality was there only because finally realized she needs to be a little bit more of it. @@winter2716 I think I understand why people don't like that episode. It's an episode that's hard to watch if you've been through something similar to what happens to Twilight. I remember when I saw it for the first time, I didn't know what to think. On one hand, I felt uncomfortable watching it (and also, I cried every time I did it, especially at the part where Twilight complained to her friends for excluding her) but on the other hand, I felt so identified with the whole situation. that I just couldn't help but play it even a second time, even if it made me feel even sadder. Currently, I can watch it calmly, although it still gives me a slight feeling of sadness, I no longer feel uncomfortable, nor does it make me cry like before, and I dare say that it is one of my favorite episodes.

I'd quote the episode "Bats!", it's absolutely NOT a terrible episode, but the treatment of the characters beside AJ and Fluttershy was. That episode is one of my favourite and a good one because: 1) The song is catchy af (still remember every word😂) 2) Applejack and Fluttershy both show you the two sides of an important argument and both make really good points (Fluttershy talking about the fact that vampire fruitbats will help growing more trees with all the seeds they spit around and offering a real solution for example and AJ making her notice the fact that you don't have the luxury of time when you sell certain products for living and those are in danger), giving you an hard time choosing the one to agree with even if the episodes puts Fluttershy in the "She was right all along" position, something that's usually lacking in kids cartoon that will instead make one side appear just extremely negative and "evil" (I mean, AJ was even fine with letting Fluttershy talk to the vampire fruitbats first). 3) I still find the idea of a vampire pony extremely cool. What I didn't like, was how the other characters act and how it's never addressed. 1) Rainbow Dash tells most of the times that getting rid of the vampire bats is really important to her, not even AJ, she was enthusiastic about the "hunt" and all 'cause she freaked out about not having apple cider... I'm still waiting for an episode where she talks about her drinking problem, 'cause she clearly needs help. FUN FACT: here in Italy, they censored any mention and clip where apple cider is directly shown or mentioned, basically taking away the "drinker RD" clip and making it look like she just got up one day and decided to choose violence against animals for fun. 2) Rarity agrees with AJ's point of view but the only constructive criticism she can offer is that the vampire bats sounds dreadful and are ugly and drooling. They made her sound far too superficial in a context like this. 3) Twilight is there in her "I'm so morally superior"-pose most of the time, telling how she would have loved to find another solution and the only time she makes research is only for the animal-brainwashing spell and she actually search for it because she already knows the spell is there. Don't know... try a bit harder Twilight? Try to research for real? Maybe that could actually help? 4) Pinkie Pie doesn't even have an opinion, she just follows the group around and even during the song she just smiles like she doesn't even know why she's here, she's a party pony yes, often played the goofy and silly comic part, but is she dumb? No.

EXACTLY! None of the other Mane 6 members had deep, legitimate reasons for siding with Applejack, instead just ganging up on Fluttershy who was left to defend herself all alone instead of having 1... JUST 1 pony side with her to show her ANY kind of support. I was half expecting this to turn into a "Kill The Beast" moment where Fluttershy, like Belle, is the only one to stand up against the angry mob, only for it to mean nothing when she tries to defend the innocent bats. I don't hate the episode, but Rainbow, Rarity, Twilight, and Pinkie's portrayals here REALLY irked me.

Well Pinkie and Rainbow want cider Twilight wants to put her spell into practice. Rarity hates ugly creatures like those bats. And even I sided with Applejack the first time I saw the episode. I love that the episode puts Fluttershy in a position where she must defend animals even if they aren't "cute and huggable". She's not like those PETA hypocrites Also, in this episode Twilight ask for the Fruit bats, establishing that they are separated in the west orchard. To which Applejack replies that those are just normal fruit bats, these invaders however are vampire bats.

I already said the exactly same things about Twilight and the others being characterized in a shitty way with no real and justified reason to agree with AJ and that they were reduced only to: thirst for spells, alcoholism and being suddently far more superficial than Rarity used to be. At least alcoholism is a serious problem, they censored the apple cider in my country and made RD looks like she just wanted to hunt down animals for fun (doesn't help that the italian version of the "Stop the Bats" song changed far too many line from "send them away/they have to go" to "We must kill the bats") and made Pinkie looks like she didn't even have an opinion and was just hanging around like a puppet. But I agree with you with *everything,* as I already said the episode is one of my favourites especially for AJ and Fluttershy and their points of view. After all: AJ is realistic and has realistic worrys about the problems that could cause to have all your apple tree sucked dry when what you sell puts food in your family's table, but she still was ok with letting Fluttershy try and talk to the Vampire Bats first, showing that she was rightfully worried and protective of her orchard, but not the: "This character is wrong so they must be unnecessarily evil and aggressive" cliché; and Fluttershy proposed a real solution (the reserve) while many characters like her in cartoons are often made "all talk and no alternatives, 'cause they're already right" and still tried to make her point valid without becoming the "crazy animal lover" trophe. Those two were the best part of the episode and taught a really good lesson, it's hard to choose with who you should side when both parts are right (AJ needs her orchard and products and Fluttershy simply wants to defend animals and their nature) and simply want different solutions to the same problem.

What the strong and hardworking but uneducated farmer can identify as a pest, the forest biologist can identify as an important part of the ecosystem. Ask the Chinese what happened when they tried to get rid of the "plague of birds that ate their crops", it turned out that the birds ate only part of their crops and their main prey was the real pests, the result was a famine that I kill fucking millions of people. The trees on Applejack's farm never had an orderly distribution for harvesting (in fact, in one episode we see that her farm is quite optimizable). And in any case, Applejack always had the last word, Fluttershy never demanded anything, in fact, she was able to put aside her iron love for animals in order to help her friend, or have you already forgotten how she became Flutterbat in the first place?

For me, the 5 worst episodes of the series are 28 Pranks Later, Daring Doubt, The Last Crusade, 2, 4, 6, Greaaat, and Parental Glideance. Conversely, some commonly hated episodes that I actually really like include The Show Stoppers, One Bad Apple, Rainbow Falls, Somepony to Watch Over Me, What About Discord?, Newbie Dash, Flutter Brutter, and Father Knows Beast.

I really dislike "Fall Weather Friends" episode, particullary the moment when Rainbow Dash and Applejack started mocking Twilight Sparkle for participating in race. I understand that it is made to in the end teach them a lesson of that physical strenght is not the most importaint thing, yet I couldn't get it how Rainbow and AJ can be so mean to their friend.

Man, are you serious? If you're offended by that you must have very fragile skin (or think Twi has it), they laughed because she's a bookworm. If I see my agoraphobic otaku friend at a party, I would make jokes about it too (and if he later humiliates me with amazing dance steps, I'll eat my words with great pleasure), it's not about being mean, the teasing between friends are most common among groups of people who handle the comrade dynamic and are not autistic.

Wooooow. Really cherry-picking it with those clips there. You say twilight had no problem with with it, but she DID. That clip you picked, she was about to say ‘but would you please reconsider’. AND you left out she only agreed because it’s temporary-so this isn’t twilight agreeing to being a murder even when rockhoof is trying to get her to. Also, your’re ignoring what is easily the main appeal and value of the episode for me. Rockhoof and a hard place earns its place in the show not because of rockhoof’s story, but because this is the only episode that shows us what the other pillars were up too- and Yona finding solace with a pony like her is really sweet. It was executed poorly and any resemblance to real life offing onselfs It’s terribly problematic, but it’s still SOOOO MUCH BETTER than non complete clause. AJ and RD have the strongest and most substantial relationship between ANY of the main six. EASY. Watching them argue over the dumbest things and putting their students in danger is The only time Ive actually turned off a new episode as it was airing. I turned it back on to finish it but I will never watch it again, whereas I rewatched rockhoof multiple times. I have never ever felt so hurt and terrible watching MLP. It actually had negative entertainment value. And adds NOTHING. To the series-since we knew the student 6 were a cool team already- Wich rockhoof and a hard place actually does. Speaking purely about how problematic the topics are or how poorly any sort of metaphor is handled, rockhoof and a hard place easily tops the charts- but as an actual episode, I cannot thing of any that hurt more than non compete clause. And I can think of plenty of episodes that were easily less appealing than rockhoofs -especially yakity sax. I hate to say it man but I have to dislike this content. Not because I disagree with you but because you’ve clearly cherry picked your clip since you cut it off at the exact right time and clearly ignored the tone of voice present in the clip.

​@@alejandrootero8894 may just be my personal bias since my favorite pony is rainbow dash, but ive watched that one episode multiple times n i still feel like she was rly out of character the entire episode. she was just very mean and selfish for no reason even tho she is meant to be the element of loyalty. i could go on abt how much i dislike that ep but that is basically the main reason for me:/ (also the multiple "20% cooler" jokes thru out the episode made it feel more like a mockery of the fandom than a nod to it and increasingly got more annoying the more they said it)

@@p1ll0w_53 I agree in part, but I didn't think these little flaws overshadowed the overall episode. Rainbow wasn't bad on purpose, she was just worried because being Wonderbolt was her life's dream, and all she had to do was listen to Fluttershy to calm her down. Although she was disrespectful to Twilight when she tried to teach her her way, but it's because she was so confident that she knew all the answers (typical RD arrogance). The only thing that escapes me is why do you think she was disloyal?

​@@alejandrootero8894 idrk but it mainly just felt off especially since all of the cheer team had so much faith in her and so did twilight. if she rly was loyal to her team and to the people that believed in her, she would hav put more effort into training them, even if she didn't understand the importance of the cheer team. idk tho, everyone can hav their own opinion that's just how i felt while watching the episode

@@p1ll0w_53 LOL. I confused the title with Testing Testing 1, 2, 3. You're right, the episode you speak of does present Rainbow as unloyal to a certain extent. I don't really like that episode, but I don't hate it either.
