I played Surrender to Madness Shadow in Legion while running a PC with an APU processor (getting like 45 fps) and DSL internet. Even while grey parsing I was still the top dps in my raid. It was so busted but it was also a super fun time to play.

4:05 the pet AI only problem that i find is pathing , for example in the bridges of Sylvanas fight, the pet can get stuck unable to "jump" the miniscule ramp of uneven level . Also, for battles like Muezala where you have to move over bridges I've had my pet getting stuck or lagging behind me for some reason

I think you are really underselling how impactful the pathing issues are. Besides all the times that you step over a bump in the ground and then your pet decides to run 100 yards to the left to get around it and pulls 3 mobs, it also nearly kills 2 specs for the entire Sylvanas fight. During early Sanctum progression, my guild had 5 BM hunters and 1 MM hunter, but when we got to Sylvanas we had 2 of the BM switch because they didn't want to have to learn when in the fight they needed to unsummon and resummon their pets. And even with only 3 BM hunters we still ended up having many wipes in Phase 2 because we would suddenly have 3 less dps when all the pets would get stuck somewhere. Admittedly, the fight/floor design isn't doing any favors for the pet pathing, but it is still an annoyance in plenty of other situations. The buggy pets has also expanded as an issue over the years as more and more classes have been given DPS cooldowns that involve a pet. Currently, half the classes in the game (Shaman, Monk, DK, Warlock, Hunter, Shadow Priest) use pets in some way.

@@Neomagam oh nono, I said it was the only proble that I found, not that it wasn't "relevant" It literally stops your pet DPS and prevents using abilities for "pathing issues" (no path available) to killcommand It is enormous impact-wise, but it's the one I find , not other weird AI like not following your commands or disappearing or wandering off randomly

@@Neomagam yes but for priests isnt a problem. The shadowfiend flies to the target, monk leaps, DK leaps, warlock is ranged (imp, dark glare, turant) shaman leap (wolves). One other problem with pathing is in Necrotic Wake, where jumping the collpase statue to skip the Lord Marrogwar mob, your pet goes around and pulls the mobs anyway. Pet aggro is another issue not related to the AI tho

@@ballsofsalsa01 I take it you've had the privilege of never seeing a Shadowfiend take 10 seconds of its 15 sec duration getting to the target because of a strange pebble on the ground in front of you. Or when Xuen gets confused in AoE and just continually jumps between targets and attacks half as often as it is supposed to. Or when your earth ele survives the first pack, but then refuses to engage the next pack you pull. And also, you can still pull most packs in the Mists maze because of the bad AI/pathing. I know most of the time the pets work fine, but the exceptions are SO noticeable and annoying when its the same bugs that have existed for 17 years.

@@Neomagam well no, i always check the meters after every pull to see if the pet is putting the work and it seems consistent. Earth elemental bug that i have is the thing not attacking your target, for example, when I use it for a pull, it storms right in but if i switch to another pack it won't go there and just stay with the first pack forever

Tbh i am suprised there wasnt even small mention aboout Buff abilities. Did you know that before WotLK Priest Divine spirit and Palladin Blessing of Kings were talents? Imagine you are not able to give all your raid memmbers a valuable buff, because you playing as different spec.

Excelent video. And you forget to mention one of the best versions of Pala's Divine Storm. It was in Worlords of Draenor( And I know it sucks, but not for Divine Storm). One of the four +90's skills you receive gives you a chance to proc a free Divine Storm with 50% increased damage every time you spend a holy power ability, and had a chance to proc even with this free divine storm( It's not unusual to spamming free divine storm during fights). This skill, with the lvl 100 Talent called "Final Veredict" turns the Templars Veredict with this name and makes one theirs efects to make the next Divine Storm increases it's radius in 50% and damage in 100% if used in the next 30 seconds. That makes the divine storm procs give you a free Divine Storm with 150% more damage and become the highest paladin's DPS ability in the expansion, making very normal use, and priority in DPS rotation, even in single targets, as it's damage outputs Final Veredict. And there was a gliph that gives you a heal of 10% of Divine Storm's damage every time you use it. Then, all changes in Legion and they put Divine Storm as a skill that damages in area and keep hiting strait foward for 20% of his damage. Aaand Crusader strike starts as a talent in retribuition and became one of baselines abilitys of paladin in cataclism to this day.

I have a vivid memory of the Combustion DoT when I was playing my Fire mage in a dungeon and got the absolutely perfect spread. Had the absolute max ignite dmg and all other dots on (fireball, pyro, living bomb etc) and popped the Fire Blast spread on like 12 murloc enemies. Every single murloc got all of the dots and 8 or-so seconds later the Living Bomb on all of them exploded and all of them got new Living Bombs (cuz of the Bombs spread). Will never forget that moment. My DPS went off the charts and from that one attack I had done lile 80% of the groups dmg. I remember the group even talking about it and we stopped for a second to talk about what just happened. Fun times indeed when you really hunt every dungeon/raid crawl after that perfect Combustion combo.

Actually the first version of Shadow Dance was that it made you re-enter stealth every 2 seconds over the duration. You can find some WotLK alpha videos from 2008 on it. That version didn't make it to the live game though.

You could also cast AOE chaos bolts in WOD with fire and brimstone with charred remains talent combo iirc, in pve! the recount numbers were so stupid in the first pulls of blackrock foundry, it was beautiful, i miss wod/mop destro a lot

I'm really surprised the Shaman Multistrike isn't on this list. For the time I played Ele it was the defining thing about the spec, to the point that I still occasionally dream about a screen completely filled with numbers from multi-multi-extended-chain lightning (though that multi-off-multi aspect might've just been the wonky server I was on at the time). It became baseline, it was made a stat for all players and even though Ele nowadays has some more interactions in their play, Multistrike is still the mastery that actually DOES something, unlike most other specs/classed, which only get a number boost to a specific aspect of combat they specialize in.

UA was always kinda unique in other ways too... first it dealt a ton of damage and triggered a silence CC when dispelled, and in WoD (or Legion?) it was one of, if not the only, dot that could be applied multiple times from the same caster

Yes I didn't play PVP and got fed up with enduring nerfs for PVP balance. Later Blizz qualified some spells that were only partially effective during PVP. For example players can only be sheeped for short times in PVP but up to a minute in PVE. I think fear was nerfed (repeatedly) in PVP, not sure about PVE.

Umm, Legion class design was atrocious. MoP was the peak. WoD onward - pruning and mutilation. In MoP, almost every talent was an impactful active, and the specs had all the previous passives baked in. Legion? The talents are a return to boring percentage buffs.
