Very true. What I mean is he hasn't fully lived up to the hype. Even Alex Gordon has admitted in an interview that when he retires he'll be remembered more for his rookie card that is play on the field. Still, overall he's no scrub that's for sure. Thanks for watching.

Maybe someone already mentioned this, but you missed one version of the Billy Ripken card. There's also a version where Fleer tried to destroy the remaining cards and literally took a saw to the cards that they pulled from vendors. Some of the employee's at Fleer (or wherever they tried to destroy the cards) stole some of these cards that have a line sawed out of the card. I forgot the number of cards smuggled out but it's a pretty cool history of this card.

Granted I am nowhere near what you one would even call a casual collector. That said what is the difference between what you call a ‘purposely’ short printed card & what I know as a mere ‘short printed card’? 🤔
@DeadGuyCardboard6 жыл бұрын
What I meant by purposely short printed I was basically only referring to the cards in this video. The 1933 Goudey Lajoie, 1933 George C. Miller Miller, and 1932 US Caramel Lindstrom were purposely short printed by the Gum/Caramel company in order to get kids to buy more products in hopes of finding that missing card for the complete set. This was a clear-cut marketing decision. Whereas the cards like the T206 Honus Wagner, Eddie Plank, Magie, and Doyle were not purposely short printed by the Tobacco company. These cards were merely pulled from product due to a mistake and/or contract dispute. The tobacco company did not originally set out or purposely short print these cards, but rather they were short printed due to circumstance...or at least we think.
