Any tick where the whole deck changes are great a deck righting it self as in Triumph is great. Along with color changing deck. One of the first tricks in Royal Road is a triuph like effect but thier is no chosen card. you just mix them up face down to face up and then you get them to right themselves. It is one of my go to effects when I see a deck of cards at a party.

Excellent list - 8 of 10 in my repertoire. Others to include - Card on Ceiling, Bannon's Triumph, Sankey's Back-in-Time, Paul Vigil's Sympathy for the Devil, Card Warp and Anniversary Waltz. With a gimmicked deck, highly recommend Josh Jay's Prism

I've been in the card universe for 51 years. In my opinion(based on raw entertainment value), here are my top 10: 1) Impromptu Out of this World by Harry Lorayne. 2) Chicago Opener(et al.) Al Leech/Frank Garcia 3) Super Interchange-Darwin Ortiz, lecture notes #2 4) Christmas Aces - Lou Gallo 5) Rainbow Miracle - Nick Trost 6) Father and Son Aces - Arturo de Ascanio 7) Devious Dates - Peter Duffie 8) Oil and Queens - Roy Walton 9) The Collectors - Roy Walton 10) Time Out - Phil Goldstein __________________________________________ If I had an 11th, it would be a tie between Devilish Miracle - Ed Marlo/Carmen D'amico and The Whistle Trick - Theodore Annemann Couple of Notes: Daley's Last Ace Trick wasn't his last trick. It was Cavorting Aces. Also, there is really no proof whatsoever that Dai Vernon ever did a trick for Harry Houdini. Bess would later argue that they never actually met at all.

Great rundown and probably the most essential! There are some other plots that are worth an honorable mention: 1) A version of ACAAN; 2) The faux memorized deck--see More Memory Man by Joel Givens for a great example of this (in Session--The Magic of Joel Givens, by Joshua Jay or as a single download on Vanishing Inc); 3) Some version of 'weighing' cards; 4) as mentioned by a previous posters a sandwich or travelers card trick and spectator cuts to the aces type trick; 5) as an honorable honorable mention--and certainly not essential--a Sam-the-Bellhop type story with cards trick might make some people's lists

Great list, I’ve done most of these or still do some of them. One nit: the video of Gemini Twins is not actually demonstrating Gemini Twins (spectator saying stop and it matches the card they were given), but is Michael Ammar’s “Twins” routine which tells the story of two sets of twins going out on a date.

Yet another awesome MO video. For those looking to find Gemini Twins, the Gemini Twins footage shown of Michael Ammar in the video is actually a completely different trick. That was Brother John Hamman’s effect in the clip. It’s an entirely different plot than the Fulves effect. They just happen to have the same name. Both are great tricks to know. The Hamman effect is one of my all time favorite packet tricks. You get a TON of mileage out of only 4 cards.

I pretty much agree with this list....I would remove anything from it. However, if I had the opportunity to add any card tricks....it would be card to pocket/52 to 1. Any version of it....as long as it has it contains the basic idea of a named out card appears inside the pocket....multiple times. Followed with the kicker ending or the entire deck vanishing and the selection remains in the hand....the other trick I thought I would possibly see it on your list, but again. If I had the opportunity to add another trick....I might add some sort of sandwich effect. Possibly something similar to club sandwich. Or Daryl's snow shoe sandwich? Anyway, those tricks are what initially pop in my head...thanks for the video! Have a wonderful day.

I don't know if gimmicked card tricks count. I guess they do, since you mentioned Skinner's ultimate monte! (Great trick, btw). The one card trick ... in fact the one trick period ... that baffled me the most ever, was a Svengali deck trick with blanks. I don't know the name of the trick or who invented it, but it goes like this: The magician browses through a deck showing that the backs and faces are normal. Then he shows the top card to everyone.and asks a spectator - preferably a child between 8 and 12 - what card it is. The kid names the card - say, 8 of clubs. The magician places the card face down on top of the deck and asks the same person what the top card is. And the person naturally says 8 of clubs. But the magician shows the face of the card, and it's blank. He puts the card back in the deck and browses through the deck again, and now all the card are blank on both sides! When I first saw that, I was so mind-blown that I was was surprised my jaw didn't hit the floor and my eyes didn't roll out of their sockets!
@thecommonmagician3 жыл бұрын
Honorable mentions, Ace cutting or an Ace assembly (a 4 of a kind type trick). Don't think I saw a sandwich effect in there. To answer your question, as opposed to giving you my entire list, I would have included MacDonald's Aces. This trick can be performed at the most basic level, and it fools and amazes the audience. The 10 poker deal is very strong effect for the audience. I false count 8 $100 as 10 bills and hands them to the spectator. A lot of interesting things happens in the routine… Cards Across. Cards to Pocket. Any card to any number Repeat the Force. Stack deck like Chan Canasta routines The selfie card trick. My favorite: The Three Piles. This was invented by my grandfather and has fooled skilled magicians. Sorry, it is super simple and uses any deck BUT is only taught to those in his bloodline (isn’t that cool?!). I taught it to my grandson, Scott, so that it will not die with me. Magic is more than “just” tricks.

@@magicorthodoxyyou are too cool to show me your Four Pile Trick. Note: Our Family-Only trick does not need a key card and is even simpler. No joke, it HAS fooled some great magicians. Sorry, if you are not in my grandfather’s bloodline, you cannot be shown how it works. I totally love you channel/reviews. They are the best. I am getting the word out.

Ace assembly is a good one that nobody has mentioned

i would personally put sandwich card effect in that list. but its a pretty solid list, a lot of tricks from the past decades are just variations of those ten basic effects.

I watched this video with great interest, I loved the list of tricks, but I thought you would climax with ACAAN. But a great list nevertheless. Thanks

The best monte ever created was by garret thomas. because its angle proof and has zero restrictions unlike ultimate monte.
