Actually, I don't fear what's in the dark. I fear the dark itself because of my Sensory Processing Disorder. In pitch black darkness, due to the disorder giving me trouble with spatial relationships, my sense of "where" is completely gone. It's like all of a sudden everything is upside-down or something, or like the void of the darkness is actually swallowing me up; I get this sense like the walls are closing in on me for some reason. You could say that I get claustrophobic in pitch darkness. In this situation, I will completely panic and grab onto the first person or object that I can reach in order to reestablish that "where stuff is" sense. It has led to some embarrassing situations. Imagine being in an assembly or at a play and the lights go out, and instinctively grabbing onto the person next to you, which might be a classmate or even a complete stranger. In elementary school, the teachers once made the students, including me, go through a "smoke-filled" trailer to show what one should do in a fire. While most kids crawled out with no problem, I on the other hand completely froze because, again, no sense of "where" anymore. I am really glad that, due to the popularity of cell phones nowadays, that I now have a readily-available, handy source of light with me at all times.

Go Eat Worms? Are you serious? In the book it's a little unsettling, but in the show it's laughably bad. You even pointed out that the book was better. The episode was a joke with no punchline. I actually still have an original copy of the book somewhere, and I vaguely remember the episode. I had heard a rumor recently that the book and/or the episode was going to be way more macabre and graphic - where instead of Mr. Mortman eating flies for the animals in his terrarium, he eats a live animal of some kind. I believe it was a rat or a snake, but I don't know for sure.

Two of my favorites: The haunted mask 2: I prefer it over the haunted mask 1. How the kid slowly becomes weaker as he wears the mask was really chilling. The second mask is like a deformed old man. My Best Friend Is Invisible: My absolute favorite as far as the books go. The protagonist somehow gets in contact with an invisible boy, who constantly causes trouble for the main character. The best part is the twist ending. SPOILERS: In the final chapter the invisible boy turns visible (I don't remember exactly how). When he does, the characters around say things like 'how short arms he has'; 'how weird, he only has hair on top of his head' and 'to think there were actually any humans left alive in the wild. He belongs in the zoo, along with what is left of his species.' revealing that none of the characters in the story was human to begin with, and leaving it ambiguous where this other species came from and how they conquered the humans. I remember even using that same twist in a horror story I wrote at school.

Goosebumps is my favorite guilty pleasure of all time! If I ever become a filmmaker (something I've always wanted to be), one thing I _definitely_ want to do, aside from make surreal horror films inspired by David Lynch, Stanley Kubrick and Alan Resnick, is adapt the Goosebumps books into movies, but make them better written, legitimately scary, and, for most of them, much darker, basically using The Haunting Hour: The Series as reference. I'll even improve some of the worst stories like My Hairiest Adventure and make them good (I have my own ideas to make that particular book better, using themes of identity crisis considering the twist, expanding on the twist, and, to make it scary and fit with the twist of the kids turning back into dogs, have them see ghosts). Depending on the story, not _all_ of them would be dark and scary, I want Monster Blood to be a fun creature feature with the titular slime itself being _literal_ monster blood, Attack of The Jack-O-Lanterns to be a full on, self aware horror comedy very reminiscent of Killer Klowns from Outer Space, Invasion of The Body Squeezers to be tonally similar to Monster Squad, and The Ghost Next Door, while the first half would basically be a kids version of Carnival of Souls, the second half after the twist would be a supernatural drama. While the _actual_ Goosebumps movie was fine, there were a few decent jokes, they were aware that the books were silly unlike most of the books and episodes where they're played straight because "it's for kids," and all the references, _especially_ to the Give Yourself Goosebumps series (up until this movie and a few people mentioning them online before the movie came out, as a kid, I thought they were underrated books that faded into obscurity), it wasn't the Goosebumps movie that _I_ wanted to see. Also, because I _love_ Goosebumps so much, I love to nitpick all the inaccuracies to the books in the movie.

Looking back, I find the ending of One Day at Horrorland (the book) rather funny. Horror hitches a ride and what does he do once he's found out? Eat them? No, he gives them free passes for next year. Also, I definitely agree with the number one choice, nothing freaked me out as a kid more than those heaven forsaken floating masks.

They are bringing 90s shows as reboots. Why not reboot goose bumps I mean with advances in CGI it would make the show far more creepier
@flower_bubbles6 жыл бұрын
As hilarious as the bad acting was. It would be nice to see some great kid and teen actors in it.
@cooperminion8254 жыл бұрын
If they did reboot the Goosebumps series then the effects should be mostly practical. If the majority of them are cgi then the scares won't be as good. Example: with the advancements in prosthetic makeup the Horrorland Horrors could look more individual and be closer to the descriptions in the book. Also, there's something inherently creepy about not being able to tell if something's real or not

it sucks that they canceled the haunting hour
@vianjelos4 жыл бұрын
@@eliasndeleon yea haunting hour was a true 'modern' day sucessor to goosebumps. But Im afraid that even that show would be too dark for todays kids. I mean we live in an era were words like hate are censored..so I dont think adults would allow an episode like pumpkin heads to be played on a childrens anthology horror show.

Small story: On the Hub Network, it used to air Goosebumps. It wasn't the original Goosebumps but the updated version with new stories (if anyone knows the name, tell me). One night, my brother, my dad and I were watching A Muppets Christmas Carol. There was this goosebumps commercial that scared the living daylights out of me. It was about this family forced to stay in their house because of some demon. Before the commercial ended, it showed the little demons face. It was at night too, so I was terrified, I also remember having a horrible nightmare that night.

The difference in the book and the adaptation (Stay Out Of The Basement) was that Dr. Brewer chopped his clone witb an axe. That's completely gruesome for kids. But spreading acid to the clone was just less gruesome.
