Mikanko Water Arabesque is so strong. I play it in Phantom Knights Mikanko in Master Duel and They work together very well. Isolde + Mikanko engine allow PK to make Borreload Savage and Thunder Dragon Colossus relatively easy.

It's doesn't have insane end-board like Mikanko version. But It's have a lot of bait when you go 2nd to bait your opponent negate and Arc Rebellion them at the end.

Smoke Grenade is definitely most famous for its abuse in Infernoble, but there were also some Dragon Link brews that were able to abuse Smoke Grenade by bringing out Vylon Cube and Vylon Sphere with cards like Crystron Halqifibrax and Union Carrier. Also, shoutout to the Dragon Link players who were running Dragunity Divine Lance as an extender that could be searched off of Romulus in hands that couldn't facilitate a Dragon Ravine play.

For those who don’t know, limits are shared in Duel Links, so you can only run 3 total copies of cards on the limit 3 list. Same thing goes for limits 2 and 1; if two cards are limited to 1, you can run one of them at a single copy and you can’t play the other at all.

Ranking is hard to disagree with, but I would say that dragoback is the last one that "feels" like a real equip. It's a shame that we don't have many good equips that you slap onto monsters to make them stronger (like was the original intention of the type)

Because the whole idea of "slapping them onto monsters to make them stronger" doesn't really work in yugioh, at least not in the way they currently work. If they worked more like in MTG, I could see them being used as tech cards here and there. As they would stay on the field until removed, even if the monster left the field, and you could reequip them to other monsters you control at spell speed 1.

It's an Equip Card specifically meant to be used on an Opponent's Monster, as the equipped Monster cannot Attack and gets automatically destroyed on the Monster's Controller's second Turn. If the Monster dies by this effect, the Card returns itself to your Hand. There's also the Spellcard "Flint", which simply auto-re-equips itself when the Monster its equipped to is destroyed by any means.

Usable enough to be playable, but definitely not overwhelmingly dominant especially when their inherent re-equip effects were once per card name per turn.

@@iistonton I actually love that concept and I've experimented with it many times in custom cards. Some Equip Spells are balanced around being able to remove them, and detaching materials from opponent's monsters is a very rare form of interaction in the game currently. Though it doesn't get truly broken until you start allowing Equip Spells to substitute as Synchro, Xyz and Link materials - especially if they are easily recursive or have notable secondary effects. (I would like to see more Union monsters with this ability though!) (Ritual tribute and Fusion material substitute Equip Spells don't seem that harmful though, I hope we see more of these kinds of equip cards in the future.)

I like running a few normal Archfiends with Phantasm Spiral. I give an Archfiend a Phantasm Spiral equip, summon Phantasm Spiral Dragon, and then give Dragon an Axe of Despair. I like it because it's like they're sharing their archetype with each other. I wish I could use Falling Down, but the effect monsters I grab make it counterproductive. 😢

Saqlifice is a good mention DuelLogs! Not to mention that tribute-effect priorities on Qli, you can chainblock yourself (i.e. Saqli CL 1, then tributed Carrier CL2) so you can safely search cards.

If equip spells or any card that can equip itself (Traps like metalmorph and Monsters like infernobles) functioned like XYZ materials, becoming attached to the the monster, rather than taking up slots in the magic and trap card zone, there would be more incentive to play them, probably not to a competitive level but still better than what we see at the moment.

the fundamental flaws of equip spells have little to do with the amount of zones they take up except for in decks specifically tailored to them, and even then you normally make do with just enough space. The way I see it, there's one key flaw with equip spells. They overlap with continuous spells in many ways. They both remain on field and have effects that are passive or can be activated every turn, and so the value of equips is lower because they have the disadvantage of being weak to monster removal as well as backrow removal. Konami is also less confident to print more complex and powerful equip spells because even the ones with simple effects end up generating too much value. I feel like Mikanko is them testing the waters with equips again and I think it's a step in the right direction. Allowing them to be have more effects without making them ban worthy

Unfortunately instead of changing a game mechanic to make all of a certain type of card viable, it looks like equip cards will continue to be completely useless or absolutely broken. Good for the equip spell cards that will be decent now while making 95% of the rest of them look worse, just like Ritual Spells and Monsters. Too bad we cannot make custom formats online every easily. Ritual Monsters should have been an extra deck type, but that won't happen since some of them have hand effects now. At least non-effect Ritual monsters could still go there without ruining the game.

An equip spell with no archetypal searchers that requires another equip spell to activate with the effect to negate a single spell effect and destroy itself at spell speed 1 to make its monster untargetable isn't really all that great even in mikanko imo. They're both nice effects, but mikanko already has access to targeting protection with its own equip spells, and the negation of one spell effect isn't really worth the deck space. I feel like it's a side deck option against something like sky striker or branded at best.

Talking about Durendal a bit more, let's talk about a deck that was good in 2012, it's a pretty good inzektor card because it searches for a fire warrior, then triggers the inzektor's effects due to being destroyed. You can even search for a tuner who sends an equip spell from hand or field to the graveyard to summon him as a level 1 monster, allowing for synchro plays, and to trigger the inzektors again. I still find it hilarious that the inzektors search/summon effects aren't OPT, or even OPC.

One thing that prevented me from using cards like Snatch Steal and Eye of Truth, is the fact that I was basically helping my opponent stay in the game. Thus making it harder to deplete their life points.

And old school Yu-Gi-Oh on average lasted many turns - especially when outs to floodgates and battle preventers weren't found, the opponent could end up gaining ridiculous amounts of LP off of Snatch Steal and potentially Cyber Stein rapid fire out their entire Fusion Deck if they wanted to (not that many good targets were really around back then for Cyber Stein). Modern Yu-Gi-Oh though, the life point regain "downside" is basically a joke.

@@BloodfelX I played the TCG more during GOAT format. So I never got to try out other mechanics like Synchros, XYZs, or Link summons. Nor am I familiar with how much faster modern day Yu-Gi-Oh! is. Hense why I've been watching these top 10 videos, to better understand how good or bad modern day cards are. Since I was more of a collector than a player. Although I did play a few duels against one of my friends years ago, just to test out some cards. Although back then, there were some rules we weren't properly following. Like switching monsters battle positions after attacking, or summoning high level monsters without tributes due to season 1 of the anime.

@@SuperGoker64 Some of those cards you mentioned I still like using. So naturally I was pissed when I found out some of those cards were banned. Also, there are some cards I will never play like Nuvia the Wicked, due to their terrible effects. Also, I'm always intrigued to know what the TCG versions of anime cards are like upon obtaining them. As in: "Are they gonna be just like the anime? OR are they gonna be worse?" Also random question: Can you explain the Trap Card Skill Drain to me? I've read its effect, but the last part sounds like it's contradicting itself? It says it negates the effects of all face-up monsters on the field, but their effects can still be activated. What does that even mean?

What about Mage Power and United We Stand? Those cards are really awesome. Mage Power increases your monster Attack power by 500 points per card in your Spell and Trap card zone including itself and United We Stand increases Attack Power by 800 per monster in your Monster zone including the equipped Monster.

There seems to be a theme here with how bans are enacted. If it's a random card that just has strong benefits but isn't part of an archetype, it gets banned. If it's a primary card of a archetype, there is no ban. Or if it's juat a very good card and enough losers whine about it (Azathot for example) it gets banned. How about they disable ban laws and allow everything to be viable? That would actually be fun and fair. "Too bad, so sad, deal with it" is the fairest rule of them all. Note: YuGiOh tournaments should be a separate system with its own rules, the general game shouldn't be penalized for loser's benefits.

The banlist is already for tournaments only. In friendly games you can agree to anything you want.

@@zowayix That is true yet in games like Duel Masters, average duel searching has painful restrictions. They have events which should be classified as tournaments, but that aside, the average duel should be fair game.

I was thinking by the wording that number 1 would be Butterfly Dagger Elma. Wasn't around for its rein, but I have heard that it had the potential for infinite burn damage, infinite drawing, or a guaranteed Exodia, which understandably made Konami mad causing Butterfly Dagger Elma to get permanently banned.

Words can't describe how much I loathe playing against Mikanko. Even if you don't put anything on board, they eventually grab Double-Edge Sword and start smacking you in the face. DuelLogs has mentioned it in other videos, but part of the reason Premature Burial and Snatch Steal stay on the banlist while Monster Reborn and Change of Heart are fine, is because it's *a lot* easier to search out generic Equip Cards than it is to search out normal spells that aren't part of an archetype.

I’d be willing to say snatch steal could be brought back. We have TTT at 3, change of heart and mind control at 1. YGO players definitely worry too much about certain cards coming back, especially when Konami takes an eternity to unban them

@@alexanderrobins7497 I mean it’s just 1 extra card, neither COH or MC see pretty much any play. And while you’re correct about the support for snatch steal, you’d be filling up your deck with cards JUST to hopefully search/recover a single card, which can be popped as well as negated. Of course there is more generic support for it like Isolde but even then power creep is through the roof with modern YGO I wouldn’t say the card would be any more OP than a well timed nibiru, evenly matched, TTT, etc.

It's pretty much an equip version of Change of Heart... but the return aspect of the equip usually doesnt matter since youre probably gonna use that card as material anyway. And its additional cost needs to be in the grave... so you already got some use for that plant type in your GY anyway

Honestly, Elma wasn't the problem card, just easier to ban than a lot of the combo, think Ancient Fairy Dragon, pre errata, wasn't that strong, but decks like Tyramid which LOVE field spells made it broken, and which would you ban, the problem CARDS, or the cause of it

Now i see the Mikanko, some days ago a play against a mikanko deck (i use ancient gear) and i go first and i bring ancient gear chimera... In his turn does some things here and there i end up with 1000LP... At the start of my turn dude activate Skill drain 2 sec later surrender... I still can't get what is he thinking when put that card on a effect deck, on of the mysteries of the universe
