An excellent video Benjamin! Let The Right One In is phenomenal and would definitely make my list. I highly recommend the movies. There are a number of these I have not yet read.

@@BenjaminsBookclubwhoa didn’t know it was a movie! Neat! Have you read My Best Friend’s Exorcism or Hörrorstor by Grady Hendrix? Those were fun. Just finished Mary by Nat Cassidy (it was wild!) and am halfway through Camp Slaughter by Sergio Gomez :) I added some recommendations from this video to my list. I have House of Leaves in my drawer at work… eeek not sure I can get to that for awhile, it makes you work too hard 😂

@@teslagoth9401 House of Leaves is definitly one of the harder books ive read, but it just sits with me for ever, I loved that book. I've read Horrorstor and quite enjoyed it. I havn't got around to any other Grady Hendrix, but I think I have basically all his books on my shelf.

Hi Benjamin! I enjoyed hearing your list. I have read most of these but I definitely need to read The Fisherman. I have heard such good things. Salem's Lot is my favorite King book too!! I read it for the first time 46 years ago. 😮 Good luck with your channel! Yes, I subscribed. 🤗

Penpal has been on my shelf for years! I need to read it. Salem's Lot is also my fav King novel! I splurged and purchased the Cemetary Dance Edition off Ebay. It is Gorgeous! I need to reread it. To me, that is how I like my Vampires. =) House of Leaves was amazing. I remember the part where I had to grab a MIRROR to read it. That book was just ....an adventure to read and I loved the challenge (I considered it the most intimidating book on my shelf)
@BenjaminsBookclub2 ай бұрын
I completely forgot about the mirror section. I always think of one section where the text box gets smaller and smaller as though it's moving away. What an odd read it is, so good though. I've only recently started looking at special editions, and my wallet would love if I stopped doing that

@@BenjaminsBookclub yeah I do not scare easily, and House of Leaves really freaked me out. Don't mess with my space! lol. oh, and I hear you. I walked away from one e-bay buy of Salems Lot. Then, months later, someone had it cheaper and still sealed! Since I had recently gotten a nice time and a half paycheck..I treated myself!

Hi thanks for sharing some horror books you like. I can’t say I’ve ever really read horror. Maybe soft horror more gothic style is as close as I’ve got. 🤣 I do like to challenge myself see if I can expand my horizons. Dark Matter sounds really good, I’ll have to book mark that! I don’t think I’m into extreme blood guts gore and shock factor -thrashertype of horror that’s what I thought the genre was. Interesting 🤔 Oh shit! Mexican Gothic!! I loved that book!! The body horror so gross!! First introduction that sort of story. Body horror. I agree it was jam packed with multi layered with history and mystery. Plotting so well done! You’ve convinced me to give Stephen King another shot. And I forgot I did read House of Leaves. Yes it got I’m under my skin it’s hard to talk about! I get chills just thinking about it. 🤣
@BenjaminsBookclub8 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment! Yeah Mexican Gothic was amazing, if you're looking for horror without the blood guts gore I think a surprising amount of the genre doesn't have a lot of that. If you like Gothic softer horror you would probably like "The Haunting of Hill House" by Shirley Jackson (It's very different from the show!) and "The Women in Black" by Susan Hill. I think you'd like those ones! My Stephen King reading is shockingly lacking as well, I have only read about 4 of his books, I need to knuckle down and read the rest!

@@BenjaminsBookclub my first Stephen King was Fairy Tale but I didn’t finish it. I’m not sure liked his writing style in that.
