Shout Factory did a great job on the Halloween franchise. I also like their new Atmos track on The Fog and Prince of Darkness. I hope that Nightbreed and Storm Warning are coming in this week. Rumor has it, that the mediabooks already have been shipped although the release is at the end of the month (they're coming in from Austria).

The green tint on the Matrix movies was added on the bluray version. It was corrected on the 4k transfers to resemble the original look that was shown in theaters.

Unfortunately people couldn't look past the green tint not featuring as heavily on the 4K release and like I said in the video it never bothered me. It has hands down the best the Matrix movies has ever looked and I wish people could just appreciate what's on show. Thank you for checking it out

I only just watched the first two again a couple of nights ago and like you said it was like watching them for the first time. What a gift 4K can be when they get it right. Thankfully they got it right with most of those Halloween movies on 4k.

Great video as always...though just to let you know while 2 and 3 are 2k upscales the original John Wick is 4K master. The whole John Wick franchise is visually stunning and great audio too. Can't wait for 4K of part 4 ( which I think is also going to be 4K master too)

Wow I was always under the impression that John wick was a 2K upscale. Maybe it's because chapters two and three had a 2K upscale I just assumed it was similar and the funny thing is it's the least impressive 4K transfer out of the lot of them. Not taking anything away from it of course because it's still looks amazing but it just goes to show that 2K upscale can be quite impressive as well

Your video proves to me that Warner Bros is doing it great with their franchises. All the franchises got great 4K releases and great (steelbook) boxsets. 😊 Thanks for the vid Keith. I agree with almost everything. I wish we could ad LOTR in here, but it got a bit too much DNR in specific scenes.

You are absolutely correct when it comes to Warner Brothers Robert. They are doing everything the right way at the moment. Giving us beautiful 4K transfers and amazing sets to go with them. There is a reason to why I didn't put the Lord of the Rings into this top ten and it's because I haven't seen them on 4K yet. I am such a fan of them movies but I have to be in the right frame of mind to look at them and unfortunately it hasn't happened yet even though I have them on 4k. I hope the transfers live up to the movies themselves and I have heard about some DNR issues. But if the picture is not riddled in DNR I'm going to be happy

Kino Lorber released Mad Max in Dolby Vision apparantly so I wouldn't mind checking out that transfer just out of intrigue but yes I own this steelbook set of Mad Max on 4k and they look incredible as they are in HDR 😊

I'm not trying to be annoying but the first John wick had a 4k di even though the later 2 looked better. Certainly in terms of hdr even though that is completely separate from resolution. I enjoyed the video. Keep up the good work. 😊

No you are absolutely correct. I automatically assumed the first John wick movie had a 2K upscale just for the simple reason the other two movies had. That was me not doing my homework properly. It's so strange that the one disk that is a native 4K looks the weakest in the franchise. Not taking anything away from it of course because it's still a stunning looking transfer. To be completely honest Angelo I forgot I actually owned the Transformers movies on 4k. I had to go down to my room just to check. I actually said it to somebody tonight that I didn't own them that's how bad I am when it comes to them movies. No unfortunately I haven't watched them yet. Hello Keith, great list mate. Im only a year into collecting so I havent seen much from this list on 4K. I can say the 35th anniversary halloween blu ray looked fantastic. Conicidently I just picked up the Indiana Jones trilogy on 4K steelbook, cant wait to see these on 4K since I havent seen better quality than my old Dvds. Great video Keith! Now without disputing your choices here, which overall I thought were great, I'm curious as to your thoughts on 'The Godfather Trilogy'. It is my favorite trilogy, actually 1 and 2 are my favorite movies of all time. 3, or now 'Coda', I admit is the lesser of the trilogy, but is still a fantastic epilogue to the original two. Having seen these movies many times over on every format thus far, I have to say that finally seeing them on 4K really blew my shorts off! Hey Rick. The reason why the Godfather trilogy wasn't in this top ten is because I actually do not own them on 4k. I am not the biggest fan if I'm completely honest but I do want to get them on 4K someday but it will have to be at the right price. I actually fell in love with that deluxe edition that came out a while back and I'm actually hoping I can get that someday. It was a long time ago when I last seen them and I really need to revisit them with fresh eyes and hopefully they will grow on me. I've seen so many reviews on the Godfather collection on 4K and it sounds like I'm in for a treat whenever I do pick them up. Especially going by what you're saying. Hi Keith, I'm glad you mentioned sound aswell as picture so I rate your opinion even more for that. I think you can have an average picture but with great sound it's very enjoyable, the other way around great picture and crap sound not nearly as enjoyable. So glad I got Mad Max set for 70 on zavvi and free from a football bet. I never knew Ws Anderson resident evils were good discs, I was honestly surprised to see them come out in the list, I last saw them on bluray and even dvd so I have to see them next watch on 4k sometime in the future but I'd like to get them cheap. Are you still listening with the q950-a? I hear the new one is quite good the q990b 11.1.4 version.

That would be a great video to put together all the 4K Editions that I have in my collection that I got because of winning football bets. I think I'm onto a winner there. Yes sound is equally as important as picture quality in my eyes or ears. No point have a great picture if the sound is awful and it's happened a few times on 4k. Again that could be another good video to put together. Yes the Resident Evil collection on 4K looks remarkable. I thought they were going to be quickly thrown together 4K transfers but you can clearly see there was an incredible amount of work put into them. We are talking about Sony here and they never half ass anything. Yes I am still using the Samsung Q950. I heard great things about their latest sound bar myself but I am so happy with what I have and I don't think I could part ways with it yet. I think the next sound system I will get will probably be a dedicated Dolby Atmos sound system.

Another trilogy of transfers straight from the top drawer and I'm sure you'd agree. They're not in atmos but the work they put into the transfer with coppolla over it was stellar. A very good true HD 5.1 and original mono tracks included. Also did you mean atmos system like bookshelf speakers and ceiling installed speakers with a receiver? I can't do that in my apartment but I got the best I could get for where I am.

I never picked up the Godfather trilogy. I'm not going to lie Steve I'm not the biggest fan of them movies but I'm almost certain I heard it got transfer of the year for last year. I've heard nothing but great things about them on 4K and I might actually pick them up someday if I can get them on the cheap. Yeah for a while I was thinking about getting a proper Dolby Atmos set up. Individual speakers all over the room. I think it all depends on how well I can hide everything. If I can't I don't think I'll bother

@@millerman9991 It's usually easy to hide the front ones but the others would be the issue, I've seen videos of creative ways of the ceiling ones being hidden but it's likely to be a good bit work if you looked at getting an installer or tackling yourself. They'd need to be set in the perfect position with the view of not moving them.

So many great titles Keith, so glad Back To The Future is in there. I think I said to you some time ago Fury Road was one of the best looking 4K I have ever seen. Godzilla vs Kong is a close second. What are your thoughts on 8K Keith, I know there's no movie content out there for 8K and some people don't ever think it will happen considering the amount of gb you would need on a disk.

To be honest Gary I actually Owned an 8k television and I ended up selling it. It was actually one of the worst televisions I ever bought. In terms of physical Media I think 4K will be the last we'll see. I'm not quite sure what the point of 8K is at the moment. Maybe it's going to be for Future streaming content but my god you will want to have some serious strong internet inside your house.

I saw an 8K showing some promotional content some years ago and I have to admit it was leaping out the screen, it was almost like I was watching 3D. Personally I think we are along way off to seeing a true 8K movie on our tvs.

Hey John. Every single 4K disc is region free so you will have no problems playing the movies. The only problem is the Blu-rays that you get with these Editions are region A locked so you won't be able to play them. If you're not too bothered with the special features then you have nothing to worry about the movies themselves will play. Trust me if you do decide to pick them up you are in for a treat

Yes the 4K discs are Region Free but the Blu Rays are Region A locked so to watch them you will need an American Blu Ray Player or a Region Free Player

I was so glad they did a great job with the matrix trilogy. Especially the original, the 2nd one I actually love just not as much as the original but it does have some amazing fight sequences. The third one is all about that final battle. The less said about the 4th the better. I'd give them 5,4,2,1 stars respectively.

That is amazing Nick because that's exactly how I look at the franchise myself. The two sequels will never be anywhere close to the original movie but take nothing away from them I still had a fun time with them. The final battle as you mentioned in the third movie is quite spectacular. I wasn't a fan of the fourth movie myself but I do need to revisit it again with fresh eyes and see how I feel about it

If I had to pick out one movie that rivals Godzilla vs Kong I would have to say Top Gun Maverick. Both of those movies are the benchmark of 4K picture quality particularly on recent movies. You owe it to yourself to check it out my friend

@Euphoria Pictures top gun maverick was a great experience in imax. When I saw it I came out thinking great experience not one one I'm massively bothered about watching again. But as it seems it is a reference disc it has gone up high on my wish list.

I couldn't bring myself to buy the Indiana box set because I hate the 4th movie and the box-set packaging looks like tat...but I love the first three movies and in particular the 2nd one "Temple of Doom" is my favourite...I managed to see that on 4K and was blown away...picture and sound are such a massive upgrade over the Blu-ray that I don't think I'll ever be able to watch it on that format again ! I guess I might have to bite the bullet and pick up that 4K box-set afterall ! (hopefully it appears in a sale soon and I'll snap it up !).

The good news is you can actually buy the Steelbooks separately. They actually have the original covers not like the ones I have in this video. So I would definitely recommend looking into them and I'm hoping to pick them up myself someday. Of course they will have to come down in price. The Temple of Doom looks extraordinary on 4k. There is not one single frame in that movie that looks poor and that's a testament to the work that paramount done on this collection. Yer, I had seen the steelbooks were available but I too thought they were a tad expensive...I'm also not a massive fan of steelbooks in general...although I must say I've seen a couple of videos you've done about some other movies where you've presented some truly gorgeous steelbooks and I might be swayed in those cases ! ;-) Food for thought...but having seen Temple of Doom in 4K and seeing/hearing how much of an upgrade it was...I literally must have it now ! ;-) as well as Raiders and Last Crusade ! 🙂

I was just like yourself when it comes to steelbooks. There was a time when I wasn't bothered with them at all and one day I picked up one and one became three three became 10 10 became 100 and the rest is history. What I'm trying to say is once you start it's very hard to stop particularly if you can get a very beautiful looking Steelbook.

@@millerman9991 I only own one steelbook (Flash Gordon) and it's (imo) very poor...the disk is great !!! and it comes with the Queen soundtrack on a separate CD which is a very nice bonus (it's the 30th anniversary edition) and I got it super cheap...which is the only reason I went for the steelbook version really...but as I say, I have seen you review a few gorgeous ones...there was a horror movie you imported from Germany but I can't seem to find the video and cannot remember what it was called...but the packaging on that was a work of art as I recall...now if the Indiana steelbooks were as good as that...I might be convinced ;-)

Wow I cannot believe you actually remembered that Steelbook that I bought from Germany. If I remember correctly I think it was called Ghost Town. It had a creepy picture of a doll on the cover as far as I remember. Or maybe it's some of the steelbooks that I bought from turbine I honestly don't know. When it comes to Germany and Steelbooks there is so many great Editions out there.

I haven't seen all of these in 4K, but I cannot agree with this list haha. I thought #1 was going to be the Daniel Craig Bond Collection. Christopher Nolans Batman collection isn't here either but the old ones are?

The reason why James Bond is not in this top 10 is because Casino Royale is underwhelming on 4k. It's actually famous for how poor it is. As is Batman Begins and that's why it doesn't feature in this top 10 either. Each movie in each franchise has to be consistently good to make my top 10.

I didn't bother picking up the Transformers movies on 4k. I wasn't a big fan of the franchise if I'm completely honest but having said that I might consider picking up that Steelbook collection that's coming out in a couple of months. But I will have to get at the right price

The only half decent ones were the first one and bumblebee. But the 5th one is meant to be one of the best transfers period. I have it myself and it is decent but there are too many good films that also have a good transfer to be wasting my time on poor movies no matter how good the transfer. Unfortunately due to film being a subjective medium you have to watch a film to find out if it is good or not.

The resident evil franchise is ultimate proof that you can't polish a turd. I don't care how good they look on 4k I got burnt on all of those films watching all of them despite them all being terrible just because I love the games.

I am right there with you Nick. I don't necessarily hate them but I stuck with them because of the games. Apocalypse was the only movie that felt somewhat fateful to the games. But that's not saying a lot unfortunately

Hey Mark. I actually tried to watch Resurrection a couple of months ago and I can only make it to a half an hour. I hate every single aspect of that movie and the only reason why I have it on 4K is because it came in the box set. Trust me I would rather not own it
