Oh totally. I only added mods because of realism, but I could still spend hours on it without them. I remember playing it for the first time (and the sims 4 was my first game) and I thought, wow, I can already do so much and that was base game only. Now, I'm currently playing a legacy family, three generations on. I love it so much.

Nraas is pretty necessary to even get the game working, you really don't want to have the sims in the worlds constantly buying cars until the entire world is bloated and it becomes stuttery.

@@velasericousland2443 Played Sims 3 since it came out but only a couple of years ago that I started to explore games mods(when I understand English a bit more and the mod page feels a little less intimidating. lol). It helps but far from 'necessary'. My game working just fine without it. It works better, don't get me wrong. But 'necessary to even get the game working' isn't true.

Sims 2 actually was better in this area - the game remembered sim's natural hair color and even face features. So no hair dyes or plastic surgeries could affect their children

Ive been playing sims 3 since it came out. This the 1st time i use nraas mc, sp, retuner, ow . Do u know how to turned off free will? I disable free will on the gameplay setting but my sims still doing stuff on their own. I didnt find anything on google that helps. Its very annoying

@@PleasantSims one thing you can do in your story progression video it's talk about the personalitys that come with the modules! They are confusing, I don't know how they works and what is the real influence in the gameplay. When you setting your integrated neighborhood you should look at several mods that expands a lot the cooking act, the profissions, school, hospitals, etc. There's even a mod that expand the alquimia skill and gives more books to buy and sell in the library.

For realistic gameplay there's also a mod that removes the plan outfit interaction from dressers, so you're forced to buy new clothes instead of getting them for free. You can buy new clothes with the Into the Future mannequins or ani's mods (there's a clothing rack and a modified version of the mannequins with some improvements).

Yeah a blonde wouldn't technically be possible in real life, but red hair would! Especially if a grandparent or great grandparent had red hair. So unless you played several generations before this one, it makes sense

Great list of mods. Here are the mods I use : 1)For me I use mods to remove annoying idle or unnecessary animations like the foot tapping animation(modthesims.info/d/367578/no-foot-tapping-while-waiting-for-clear-route.html ) and route fail animation(modthesims.info/d/366836/no-route-fail-tantrum-animations.html ). When I removed these, my sims automatically find the best route and not making a tantrum when they are in a crowded place. This is specially useful in schools when there are so many kids waiting in front of the school and I used this with the additional entry and exit mod for schools(modthesims.info/download.php?t=568897 ) so that the kids will patiently fall in line until they enter the school. 2)Another annoying animation for me is the coughing while eating animation, so I use this mod(modthesims.info/d/360002/sim-cough-drop-stop-sims-choking-coughing-while-eating.html ) to remove that. Slob sims will still cough but I think that's appropriate so yeah. 3)I also remove the Idle animations with this mod(modthesims.info/d/518491/the-annoying-idle-killer.html ) because it's not really realistic when you're sad then you suddenly start clapping your hands cheerfully randomly. 4)I also use the sleep freedom mod(www.nraas.net/community/SleepFreedom ) that makes two sims with no romantic relations sleep in the same bed. I mean it doesn't make sense that you could only sleep with your significant other in the same bed but not with your family or best friend,right? If you install this mod in your current save, you may have to buy a new bed since it doesn't work with beds that are bought without the mod. 5) Okay for hardcore mods, I use Consort Age mod(modthesims.info/d/517293/age.html ) which will gradually change your ADULT sims into elders(it will gradually change hair color to white, add wrinkles and many others) so that the age transition from adult to elder is not abrupt( at least for me). And it usually makes a difference since young adults and adults in the sims are indistinguishable. 6) And lastly, the taxi charge mod(modthesims.info/d/529758/taxi-charge-mod-updated-oct-16.html ) which will charge you when using a taxi. I mean taxis are not free in real life, right? Though you may want to not install this at the beginning of your game, especially if you're still poor since it will drain your money fast!

I like using Nraas Vector so my sims get sick. I usually only have common cold and simfluenza activated at any one time though. Others I like having in my game are taxi charge, hospital overhaul, and msc_mod which makes it so more sims go to community lots as I was sick of going somewhere and being the only sim there. And I haven't used it yet because I haven't had a pregnancy since installing it but the mixed pregnancy feelings mod sounds really cool that not every sim will have a green moodlet when pregnant now.

My biggest issue is that for YEARS I played unmodded Sims 3. It wasn’t until the release of expansions and stuff packs ended that I started using mods to add new content. I bought the Sims 4 on launch day and the same day went back to Sims 3... there was just nothing to do! Without mods, the Sims 4 is unplayable to me, and thats something I absolutely hate. I shouldn’t have to add fan content to a game to make it playable, especially after spending $60.

When it comes to mutations I actually enjoy it because in my life I find it to be realistic. My mom was born with strawberry blonde hair that's curly but we do not know anyone else that could have had this hair in her family, and then I ended up with the same hair but my siblings have the same hair as the rest of my mom's and dad's family. I find it fun and it gives me a sense of deeper lore of grandparents that don't exist because it's my first generation of sims

I’d love for you to do an in-depth video on nraas and story progression. Sims 3 was my first sims and I used to have so much and never played with mods in my game. I was really young and inexperienced with computers so I was too afraid to try lol. I’ve been playing sims 4 since day one and the game has just been wearing on me… it’s just not fun anymore! 9 months late, but I think sims 3 would be managable on your comp. I have sims 3 on a HP laptop and with NRAAS installed it works vety well. Just don't forget to delete cache files before entering the game.

I like the idea for the minimum wage mod, but the prices are to low. No one should be forced to work a job that only pays $2 an hr. My only problem with the mod is that it’s to low, and on stage 4 of any career my sims should definitely earn more than $9 an hr. There should be a better balance. I like the no fridge mod. I like the retuner mode as well.

Some of my favourite mods for realistic game-play in the sims3 that you didn't mention are the NRaas vector mod that adds more sicknesses to the game, but they still have the fun nature of the sims like laugh riot, Llama pox etc, and the Age mod by Consort which adds gradual aging from Adult to elder so they don't age like 30 years in one day I absolutely love these mods, and I love you amazing fun personality, i always feel better after watching one of your videos!

I don't use mods in The Sims 3. Before The Sims 4 came out, I didn't know how to get custom content. Now, when I return to the game, I play without mods, because I've always done it.

12:53 - for those of you who use Nraas story progression like me, you don't need that mod. It's built into story progression, and you can alter dominant/recessive hair/eye colors so if there is a mutation there has to be someone in the family with it. For example say you have brown haired mama, blonde grandma(on mom's side and dad's side), dark-haired papa and grandpapas, there is still a small chance for the child to be blonde, but it will actually be "genetic". I think it's the population module. It even works with supernaturals iirc as WELL as even skipping more than one generation if one wants that. (So it could be a few generations between blonde child and great grandparents)

Townies have their needs met by the game so they don't need to buy food. If you mean the other playable families, it's the same thing. They live in a stasis when you aren't playing them so you don't have to worry! :)

Anybody know of any mods that keeps sims from going to random places for no reason, or prioritizes them being home in the evenings? I'm tired of finding things like Jack Bunch f*cking around at the junkyard at 2 AM when he has to go to work at 8. Also I can never trick or treat because nobody is ever home!

It would be very cool if you could do a video all about storyProgression, i've been using it for years but it still makes me confused, and i haven't even considered using one of its modules yet... so personally i'd be really grateful if you could make one about that, and thank you for still making content for sims 3, its good to see i'm not the only one still on this game instead of the sims 4

These mods are less for realistic game play but better utilization of game mechanics: nraas Overwatch, Traveler, and Mastercontroller. Overwatch can make your game run better by turning off TVs, removing cars off lots, turn off radios, ect. It also free sims stuck sims which I find to be the most useful. The mod is set to do its thing every in game night, but you can change it if you want more or less scrubbing of your world. It has a ton of different settings you can use to fully optimize the game to help it run better. Traveler basically let's you travel to any world on vacation. It also helps you catch script errors for traveling if the preexisting system kept crashing on you. You can also vacation without World Adventures, so pack your bags because resorts from Island Paradise finally have a use. You can also vacation on custom worlds with it to. Mastercontroller gives you full control off you world, which some will consider cheating. There's way too much to cover in here but it is extremely useful to set up empty worlds with families as you can give them all jobs and set their relationships on a dime. IK this has something to do with sims 3 but I just found out community lot time doesnt work well with pregnant sims and gliches alot and is advised that you shouldnt leave the home lot. That's why Eva was gone for 3 years and Nora's belly was gliched

Oh Lord, the memories thing! First sim I ever made in sims 3 I made enthusiastic about nature. Hah! Everytime she went anywhere..."Sally went to the Park! She will never forget the feeling of being outdoors...whatever it said" ... "Sally saw a Squirrel! She will never forget" ... "Sally saw a Butterfly! She will Never forget...." boy, did that get old fast! And I thought sims 2 sims running to the window everytime it rained or snowed was annoying!

i have mixed feelings on the minor event memories cause i’m the kind of person irl who gets pretty excited going to the park and i’m liable to squeal with glee when i see a pretty butterfly. but i definitely ain’t gon remember that FOREVER. those kinds of things should’ve been brief moodlets. the grocery shopping should be forgotten about entirely though. no one cares that much bout buying bread.

I would love the same-sex try for baby in the game, because you can get a biological baby in Into the Future, but it doesn't feel as special, you don't get moodlets or anything 🥺

I reinstalled The Sims 3 after Pixelade's video comparing the babies. I forgot how much CHAOS that game had, I love it. I added my sister and then I told her to Divide By Zero. I then had to put her out because I wasn't about to watch her die from fire. Also they let my sim be a teacher, when she spends the rest of her time screaming at objects and vomiting on sidewalks at the park

So far i've only downloaded the basic story progression mod and the minimum wage mod. My sim wanted a career in athletics and the 1st level is basically an internship program, as he makes no money working there.

I think it doesn't make sense to decrease how much the sims make and then also change how much stuff costs???? i think it's pretty evident simoleans are not a 1-1 allegory for USD. it's sounds unplayable to change it to real life minimum wage and using ANOTHER seperate mod just supports that. the cost of stuff in the sims world is pretty proportional to how much your sim gets paid. seems pretty realistic to me already

I'm low-key a bit glad about the mutations. I started in my neighborhood with a sim with a ginger hair color I made myself and now that there are multiple families a few generations down the line I'm happy about any newborn sim who doesn't have this particular shade of ginger lol

Instead of Using Minimum Wage and then having to lower all the costs, why even bother with an extra mod, when you can just make the costs higher in the first place though? That's what i do at least. All the Default Replacemants on your website are really great, thanks. :)

The only one that I use that I consider essential for realism that you didn't mention would be the Vector NRAAS disease mods. If my Sims don't have some seasonal flus and occasional dire illnesses then it's just not real enough for me. Also, thank you for showing exactly how to download each mod! Sometimes those pages are so confusing.

The attraction thing, every time, EVERY TIME, I make my Sim, I found a npc Sim, they fall in love, they get married... ... SO THEN OUT OF NOWHERE, ONE OF THEM IS ATTRACTED FOR SOME RANDOM NEIGHBOUR. Sometimes I feel like "What would happen if", but at the same time I get so, so angry, like "I MADE YOU TWO FALL IN LOVE, THEN AFTER YOU GOT MARRIED YOU'RE ATTRACTED TO SOMEONE ELSE?!" It happened with my Sim (wife), she was attracted by her roommate, a fairy that was (indeed beautiful) kind of messy and strange. Actually I've remembered now... Both the wife and the husband were attracted to her. That fairy. Oh but that fairy. I liked her, she was nice, she was my Sim's best friend before she got married. BUT SHE WAS GETTING ALL THE ATTENTION (AND THE FAIRY HAD A BOYFRIEND. I WAS SO CONFUSED ABOUT WHY WAS SHE FLIRTING WITH MY SIMS)

I must get that attraction re-tuner one, because it is seriously annoying having yours Sims being attracted to LITERALLY EVERYONE!!! It's a pity there's not a flavour that bases attraction on traits and tastes in music (The favourites), because those make the most sense to me. Ah well, traits alone do fine. (That whole zodiac sign stuff is bollocks to me). Edit: Is there a mod that stops teenagers from driving cars? I know it probably sounds silly to you, but I really don't like that. There's is a reason: I'm British, the school leaving age here is 16 and you can't learn to drive (officially) until you're 17, and even that I think is at least a year too soon. Personal opinion there.
