*I know there’s more than “10 bands” but I rank multiple bands / songs / albums if I feel like they are equal in terms of quality and my enjoyment* 10. Testament / Anthrax 9. Forbidden 8. Flotsam And Jetsam 7. Artillery 6. Destruction / Tankard / Annihilator 5. Death Angel 4. Sodom / Megadeth 3. Kreator / Onslaught 2. Slayer / Exodus / Metallica (1981-86) 1. Overkill Overkill is the most underrated and consistent thrash band out of the 80s and really deserve more respect. Luckily ever since Ironbound they gained more recognition but not as much as they really do deserve. Their first 5 albums are absolute thrash classics and I find them as strong as the big 4’s of the 80s. They honestly haven’t put out a bad album (some are better than others) but bad? Nah. Even my bottom 3 (Immortalis, I Hear Black, Bloodletting) has some great stuff while the rest is good to decent on those albums. Just really love their whole body of work. Good list though! Some real interesting picks!

Some of thrash albums I had on tape back in the day I had to get on CD later because they were so fuckin’ good....Fabulous Disaster,Master of Puppets,Among the Living,So Far,So Good...So What,Extreme Aggression,Act III,Years of Decay,The New Order,Agent Orange,Control and Resistance,By Inheritance, Method of Destruction,Face of Despair,Blessing in Disguise,How Will I Laugh Tomorrow...,Reign in Blood,Beneath the Remains,Never Never Land,Killing Technology,etc.I bought Meliah Rage’s ‘Survive to Kill’ also on tape,it wasn’t a great album but I just bought it cause the album cover looked bad ass.

Testament easily #1 in my Books. Alex Skolnick is God on Guitar. Seriously Skolnick is so great on guitar Thrash and Speed metal was boring for him so he mastered jazz and blues and so many others just to keep his attention. Putting all those other above him really is a joke. No other Metal guitarist can touch him. Ive pretty much heard them all and Skolnick will School all of them. Poland is a close second. Eric Peterson shreds all over most rhythm guitarist. Testament is the Ultimate!

Metallica is not Overrated. They're simply clever enough to play the right tune in the right time , in an easy simple way. This simplicity and catchy riffs is something for Metallica. If the MOST other bands had the ability to do , they would have done it. Metallica knew how to expand, how to reach everyone's ears , in every age and style.. that's why they are hated by many and called overrated.
