Something i love about indies is the art direction. Personally i want more cool/pretty games with a beautiful distinct style

Radio the Universe was just amazing! I was always intrigued by the bleak looking world design but the gameplay and sound effects blew me away. Hope you get the chance to try it out soon!

I am very happy to see you cover next fest. I got totally lost in the Wandering Sword demo. I got 3 and a half hours in before I even realized it. It has a unique combat system. You can pick turn based or real time. And oh my those graphics.

Great list! Radio the Universe was the stand out for me. Something about its pixel art, mystery, and combat really hooked me in. Also, a sister's journey was really cool for me, but like you said, the platforming was VERY challenging right away and put me off continuing the demo

Oblivion Override looks like a game I could have a blast with. The visuals are stunning, and the combat looks engaging. Excited :)

I definitely had the most fun with Oblivion Override. Personally I hate the knives, but _loved_ the goofy weapons like the lollypop chainsaw. It really seems like it has a weapon for everyone and they play pretty differently. I also really liked the upgrade system. Throughout the game you'll branch out in a variety of possible directions, up to you. At one point you'll be maxed out in terms of upgrades and it will challenge you to decide which upgrades fit the best with your build and which you can take the most advantage of (with some taking up space for no reason like a once-only full heal). It's a bit like when you max out your inventory in an RPG, but with upgrades. It's really clever and adds a lot of freshness to Dead Cells/roguelite formulae. It's also full of charm. The NPCs are all intricately animated and expressive and do a variety of activities when you return from a run. Sometimes the old scientist will be scanning your performance, showing a short clip of your battle before your demise on a screen. Sometimes he'll be chillin' sipping cola from a straw and watching TV, which you can turn off, at which point he'll whip out the remote and turn it on again. It's little details like this that I love, I hope they'll add even more in the full release. It's a Chinese game, so the dialog is often weird, probably a consequence of iffy translation, but hopefully that'll be improved upon too. Finally it's balls to the wall hard, with bosses dispatching you quickly and with ease. It _was_ pretty trial-and-error-y, which was frustrating, but the aforementioned variety made runs feel fun each time (secret rooms yay), and after a few deaths you figure out how to avoid boss attacks. Actually finishing the demo felt like an accomplishment, whereas most demos I didn't even finish due to boredom, frustration or it being a doddle. Really hyped for this game!

By far my favourite demo was Radio The Universe but I also loved the demos for Bzzzt, Gestalt: Steam and Cinder, Planet Of Lana, and The Ramsey.

Finally a Steam Next Fest video, were the recommended demos were actually played by the presenter. Many of the demos are still available, even after the fest ended, so this video creates good value

I didn't have too much time with the demos this time around but I got to try Radio the Universe which definitely hooked me along with Teslagrad 2, Gravity Circuit, and less hooked but still sort of interested in Meet Your Maker.

Bleak Sword DX is Friggin Awesome! The whole point of true gaming like the classics is to make it challenging not easy. That's why I love these remodernized classic style games! Challenge is what a Gamer should strive for just like the classic days of quarter arcade challenging in Fighters or others ! That's what makes it fun! Advancing your skills ! 👌🏼

Trinity Fusion deserves honorable mention. Sci Fi roguelite with buttery smooth animations. It isn't perfect yet, but it has all the potential to be a hit.
