Two big skips, both requiring a full memory card, can be found in Rayman Revolution, saving multiple hours when combined and making the run less than a quarter of an hour long. When entering the level "The Bayou" normally, the game will ask you to save, and then it will play a cutscene. However, two other levels have a cutscene on the same map, and by refusing to overwrite a save file when the game tells you the card is full, it will restart the map internally and advance the cutscene counter, making it play the next cutscene and then warping you to the level "The Precipice", which is 8 levels ahead. Because The Precipice is one of the later levels in the game, leaving it will lead to the third and final overworld map. This means that we can now access the final level: "The Crows Nest" by making use of another glitch. Once again, before the game loads the overworld it will ask you to save. We can once again refuse to overwrite a save file, except this time we hold down the select button when declining to overwrite. This will cause a screen which shows the current objective to display at the same time as the save screen. From here, pressing the Start button will both exit the save menu, and load the pause menu, allowing you to move in the overworld while the menu is displayed. When you try and save a game while you can move in the overworld, the game will register a jump input on the same frame, and for each frame that the game is saving, Rayman will gain more height. This can be used to navigate to an invisible warp that leads to the final level. There's other stuff too, like the fact we can skip to the Bayou after completing the first level, or the fact that moving diagonally relative to the camera is actually 1.414... times faster then moving straight. Rayman 3 (the sequel to Revolution) also has a lot of neat glitches used everywhere in the run which make the game very broken, so it might be worth taking a look at those too.

Holy cow. I remember checking out that Dark Cloud run just last month while watching the longer glitchless run. I was shocked to see how quick the time was compared to the 7+ hour run and couldn't help but be remind of the same kind of tricks with items being done in Pokemon. There was a game I used to speedrun called The You Testament which had an RNG nightmare of an any% category involving getting arrested, sentenced to crucifixion, then using your magic power to hop off the cross, which would warp you to near the end of the game under certain conditions. Of course, you had to make sure you found enough food along the way to restore your health because once you jumped off the cross you would limp very slowly, and even *getting* to the crucifixion was completely RNG heavy because you weren't guaranteed to be sentenced to the cross, or even sentenced at all. It skipped a good 90% of the game though.

Jak and Daxter is my favorite game franchise.You could also (on the title screen) hold down L3 and press Up Up Down Down Left Right Left Right(sound familiar?) X X square circle square circle let go of L3 and you should hear a beep (or a random sound effect if your in the Precursors legacy) hold down L3 and do the whole thing backwards.Make sure if your playing in Jak II that this is done while the camera pans to the posters and says Naughty Dog etc.In the Precursors legacy just pull it off as you actually have to press start unlike Jak II and 3.In legacy,holding down R2 will make Jak fly as long as you hold it down.Jak II on the other hand,you press both L2 and R2 to make him fly.The good this is you don’t have to hold it down.Jak will just fly.L2 lowers him in this state and R2 rises Jak(I just made it easier to remember)This is the fabled DeBug mode.In Jak II,going to under port whilst in DeBug mode,(via stage select or skill)going through a certain wall shows you a secret precursor orb.(I’ll take that thank you very much)Now,I don’t know if it works on the original,but it does work on ps3 and ps4 ports.(longest comment I have ever made.) This actually crashed KZbin when I posted it.Woah.

Man I was hyped to see which Ratchet skip would be featured when you showed some RAC 1 footage at the start but then you didnt feature it :( . I feel cheated. I mean, the VR skip on RAC 3 is a really great skip that takes you from planet 2 -> planet 6, or RAC 2 the Imsomnias museum glitch that takes you from the tutorial planet to 3/4 the way through the game, cutting it down to a sub 10-minute run that actually had to have a category created where you specifically dont use that one skip.

EZScape Ah ok I didnt know that was your process, in the future I know what to expect. Though IIRC you put RAC 1 footage at the start of your accidental skip discovery video, if not, it was at least the thumbnail. undercoverdudes I now how you feel, RAC2 IMG is just so good, and such an interesting oversight by the devs - even though its not glamorous it could easily have slid in to number 9 or so. It skips like 75% of the game bringing it down to less than 10 mins which i think is absurd, and the fact that it requires its own category where you cannot use that trick (and is officially tracked/counted) means it is a very major skip :P

One of my favorite skips is in "The Room" Silent Hill 4. Normally you need to go through a bunch of extra complex areas with Eileen. If you leave Eileen outside of the elevators near the end of the level. Then, When you go around to the end by yourself she will glitch through the fence that is locking the area off and rejoin you at the very end of level.. Not sure how much time gets saved but it's a bunch.

i saw you did the Castlevania glitch, but there's another you forgot that skips right to the best ending. from the beginning of the game to the Master Librarian where you have to configure items in a very specific way to rewrite the code for the ending. I believe this skip is faster than doing the inverted castle glitch to Shaft and Dracula.

mirrors edge should definitely be in this. you can skip a whole chapter saving 6 minutes (speed run for this game has evolved from an hour long to sub 30 minutes) just search mirrors edge boat skip

Hell, I bet there's been a number of old games that have been recently broken that would make for good content. You can get the Master Sword before the first dungeon in LoZ Twilight Princess. this allows you to warp freely which normally you would have to go through 3 dungeons.

Mate there's some cheeky skip in Rayman Origins in the first level of Moody Clouds. Normally you need to defeat the four kings in the 4 new worlds given to you after finishing mystical pique to be able to pass this level, granting you access to the rest of the world. However, by connecting a second character in game you can kill both the second and first character. You do this by moving the second player but not the first, killing the first from going off the map, and then you can turn the second into a bubble, which can only be done with a second, third or fourth player, which ends up resulting in both players dead and the level restarting. Doing this 8 or so times will give the option to skip the level, which appears once you die enough times in a particular level. However, the player wasn't meant to be able to die on this level, which prevents them from skipping it normally, but doing this allows the player to skip the level and give them access to the rest of the world, skipping the 4 other worlds which saves a good hour or so.

Because when I saw the title of this video, I instantly thought about the save-corruption method in Pokemon to skip straight from the start of the game to the end credits. xD I think that's technically possible to do in real-time, also, but I'm not certain.

Not quite. Until the discovery of the warp to Dark Heaven Castle featured in the video, we had a warp from Hag's Check-in menu to the credits. This meant going through more of the dungeon. The current skip from Dark Heaven Castle to the credits is basically the same as the one from Hag's, just at a more convenient Check-in.
