Always worth remembering: An extensive rollover might look violent, but it's preferable to a crash that brings the car to a dead stop, because the rolling and bumping eats up energy that thus doesn't get transferred to the passengers.

Makinen's crash was extra dramatic because of that miraculous hop over a spectator. It was truly miraculous because it was rolling, then it went higher over his head just as if the guys guardian angel pulled the Subaru up from the heavens to avoid him. I think Tommi was very, very shaken afterwords.

Man these cars are freaking tanks!!! I mean, what a testament to all the new safety technologies that have been developed in the last 2 decades. For a driver to just walk out after falling down a cliff or even a mountain at 180 km/h... Absolutely incredible

I went to the place of Tanak's crash, it's unbelievable to see it in real, the car end on the road just below after a slip on the moutain and a fall of about 20 meters from a cliff, the safety is insane

I'll never forget Francois Delecour's crash in Australia in 2002, where he went straight into a tree at high speed and it launched the engine out of the car upon impact. Luckily the driver and codriver survived.

Nothing will ever top Markko Martin in Argentina 2004. Not much of the crash was captured on video besides hitting the rock at high speed from the onboard, but the aftermath of what is basicly reduced to half a car still amazes me to this day that both occupants got out relativly unscathed...

@@marekkuran4956What if both of them had not come out of the car on time? The car was drowning in water, seatbelts, roll cage, it takes time for the brain to recover. They took quick action otherwise both of them would have drowned as the water was very deep.
