This video was so fun to make. Although difficult to go through every bird in Texas one by one and place the best in a list of 10, I am truly happy with the result. I hope you find my choices to be reasonable because I gave a lot of thought and effort into this video. As always I hope you enjoy! Subscribe if you want to see more!

Good job. Shrikes and Road Runners are pretty friendly also. I am most impressed with the falcons here in West Texas as well as the Golden Eagles.

Excellent! Loved how you threw in the 8 honorable mentions that we see here regularly(including a road runner). Caraca(sp) have been in ATX/central TX a lot lately. Painted bunting is a once a year sighting. Back when we were kids in early 1980's,DDT had kilt off most big raptors--good to see them so numerous.Thanks for video!

Was expecting Mourning Doves at least in the honorable mention. Who hasn’t listened wistfully to doves cooing early in the morning?

Definitely hoping red tailed hawk would be number one. I always hurry outside to see the happenings when I hear them making their crying calls.

I think your video is great! I have only one comment - #8 is the Roseate spoonbill, not the Rosetta spoonbill. A small thing, but accuracy is key when educating the public. Thanks for your video!

personally my favorite texas bird is the white winged dove, they're the first bird i ever truly identified. i remember being around 12-14 maybe, in my old neighborhood, and this poor injured bird was hoping along the sidewalk unable to fly away, so i held him in my hands and i had never been that close to a bird before. his beautiful orange eye surrounded by blue feathers completely captivated me. i tried my best to help him at the time but unfortunately, he passed on. now i try my best to learn about more birds so i can do my best to help protect them. their very distinct call also reminds me of home, of waking up early in the morning, of all those peaceful morning hours i had all to myself. i grew up with a lot of fighting, and for just a while, when i would wake up really early, i would be awoken by those calls, i never gave it much thought, i always loved birds but i not until now did i really appreciate them, you know? they're so adorable, they're very easy to spot, and they remind me of home. plus they're really impressive little guys!! they're desert birds so they have to have lots of stamina to find water and such. i also love turkey vultures, they're ADORABLEEE and have great personalities. plus they're another common bird from the area i grew up in. i remember a whole flock of them lived on this big cell phone tower i think so you could get this really great view of them. sorry if i used any incorrect terms, i'm still learning!!

Nice collection. I cannot take issue with any bird here. Especially, if the Bob White is included.

I live in Texas and have never seen a prairie chicken before! But, I will say, the roadrunner is HUGE when you see it in person. I've seen them all over Texas and each encounter I have, I am always amazed at how tall the roadrunners are! Blows my mind! And to watch them run is an experience!

When I think of my Texas Top 10, I'm thinking of birds I can't see in most other places around the country, so Great Blue Heron, Red-tailed Hawk, and many others from your list our out. Here are mine, in no particular order. Green Jay Great Kiskadee Common Pauraque Green Kingfisher Plain Chachalaca Least Grebe Buff-bellied Hummingbird Aplomado Falcon Clay-colored Thrush Olive Sparrow *By the way, it's Roseate Spoonbill, not Rosetta Spoonbill.

I was thinking the caracara was going to be on there but honorable mention isn't bad. I'll be heading down to Texas in February of 22, Aransas area and found this video while searching for places to visit. Hopefully I'll see most of the birds on this list.

That's such an amazing bird! I love getting to see them at this one cricket park I always go to. I would have put them on the list but they aren't residents and only come here in the winter :( But thanks for your comment and it was nice to meet a fellow Texan!

Please tell where in Texas the Pileated Woodpecker is a native bird. It must be the same area as the EASTERN BLUEBIRD.
@J_Birds
@J_Birds 3 жыл бұрын
Haha many times I see them in the same places as Eastern Bluebirds. You can find them in East Texas and many times you'll see them at the top of tall, dead trees. They also have a very loud call that you would usually hear over everything else in the forest. A specific spot that I've been to look for the Pileated Woodpecker is Kleb Woods. A pair of them used to nest there but I'm not sure if they are still there. I hope this helped and have a good day :)

It would have been nice, if you would had typed the name of the birds at least, and include a short recording of their call. I'm trying to find one from the Panhandle, that we never got to see, but we looove it's call.

As a Texas Native of over 60 years I've at least seen all but one of these birds. I had no idea there were prairie chickens even in Texas anywhere. But I've lived only along the gulf coast and in east Texas. As you know it's a large state with many different habitats. Good job for not just showing birds found mostly only in one region of the state. Most of the Texas birds videos show just the ones around Austin, for example.

Wow, I'm honored to be in your presence. Yes they are quite the rare treasure, they only live in a small part of central Texas and the Texas population is decreasing in numbers. I live along the gulf coast as well!! I love all of the shorebirds and wading birds we have, there is such a great variety of amazing birds here. Thank you for your praise, I did my best to keep it as unbiased as possible. Thank you for your lovely comment and kind words my new friend. I hope you have a wonderful rest of your week :)
