Maybe when you've read all these books (and 🤞🏻 enjoyed them), you could share your thoughts with us? And the peach shirt looks great, it really makes your blue eyes shine!

🐛Thank you for the compliment, Lily. I'm so glad you were intrigued by some of the books in this video. I'll for sure be posting written reviews on Goodreads. As to whether we'll see these books on my channel again depends on whether they're 5 star reads. ⭐👀 In the meantime, I hope you get your hands on a copy of The Vintner's Luck and enjoy it. Please pop by and share your thoughts on the book when you do; I'd love to know what you think. (I also heard from another viewer that there's a sequel to TVL). Happy reading!

I own On the Savage Side after reading The Summer That Melted Everything. I'm looking forward to it. I also just reserved Irena Rey from my library. Jacob's Folly is a new one to me, but also sounds very different. I will keep that one in mind too. I thought your peach top was perfect for a Spring TBR video. It's beautiful.

I love that cover of Thistlefoot! I have The Secret Garden on my TBR, as well as Code Dependent by Madhumita Murgia from the women's nonfiction prize list. I haven't thought much past these two. In the opposite mood of happy spring vibes, I hope to participate in Misery May hosted by Gemma and Scott from Gunpowder, Fiction, and Plot 🙂

I really enjoyed Remarkably Bright Creatures as well. I highly recommend the audiobook because the voice of the octopus was really great. I’m intrigued by a book narrated by a fly so I’ve added Jacob’s Folly to my TBR. I’d also like to read On the Savage Side. I heard a review the other day of a book called Betty and the reviewer absolutely loved it. I just realized McDaniel wrote that one as well, so I’m excited to read both of those books too. I just need more time to read all the books. And I think your peach tshirt looks great on you. Thanks for all the recommendations! 😊

🐛You're the second person to advocate for the audiobook of Remarkably Bright Creatures. Perhaps I'll oscillate between that and the print copy. Hmm... I've read Betty by McDaniels and enjoyed it immensely, though of course her debut, The Summer That Melted Everything, is my favorite. Thanks for the compliment on my shirt. ☺ Once you get a chance to read some of McDaniel's work, I hope you'll come back and share your thoughts. Happy reading!

Princess Peach was my favorite character to play as in Super Mario Brothers 2, I just loved floating through the air I guess; and the shirt looks nice imo 👍 The book I'm most excited to read from this Spring is The Warm Hands of Ghosts by Katherine Arden. I'm not generally a fan of stuff set during WW1, but I loved her Winternight trilogy and am ready for a new one from her

🍑 I just finished On the Savage Side today and it broke me 💔 After reading the ending, I hope to someday reread it because I will be able to read it in a whole new perspective. Tiffany McDaniel is in a league of her own and one of my favorite authors. Looking forward to your thoughts on it.

🐛Gotta love a book that tears your heart to pieces. I've read two McDaniel books, and both of them have destroyed me, so I'm not at all surprised to hear that her third book is devastating. Even so, thanks for the heads up. I'll make sure I'm in the right headspace before picking up that book. I couldn't agree more that Tiffany McDaniel is in a league of her own. I'm amazed I don't hear her name mentioned more often, and I'm equally stunned that her work hasn't been nominated for any major prizes (especially ones centered on women's writing). Now that you've finished On the Savage Side, will you be picking up a light read to help mend your heart?

Ooh, great question. I wouldn't say that a bad cover will completely deter me from picking up a book. If it did, then I wouldn't own a copy of The Vintner's Luck. Then again, there's no denying that I'm drawn to alluring covers. In fact, I often go out of my way to track down the most attractive edition of a book (that I can find and afford; a delicate balance to strike, especially now when money is tight). What about you? Is an unattractive cover enough to send you running? Or will you give a book a chance regardless of it's cover?

Can't judge a book by its (heinous) cover, but you can by the last page read . . . . and ANY story involving wine in the title (e.g."The Vintner's Luck") should get a closer look. In this case, it did; the opening page, where it reveal a sample of that euphonious prose we all love. . . . We'll see.

@@markhayward9764 That's so interesting. It's the same for me with spiders. I have no logical reason to be scared of them and yet a teeny tiny spider is enough to send me running from the room. Strange how these fears inexplicably manifest.

@@markhayward9764 Hoo boy, have I been there. It never feels right to kill something just because I'm afraid of it, so I've conducted a few terror-filled catch and releases myself. But... lately I've been encountering more and more videos online that say the spider you kindly escort outside can't survive there, and though you moving it is well intentioned, it's as good as killing it. If that's true, then I wonder if a quick smush wouldn't be kinder (because of course letting a spider continue to craw on the ceiling above my bed is unthinkable).
