I disagree; I'd prefer to see a Cats movie stripped of most of the spectacle; the music and lyrics are strong but on film they will need actors who sing, not dancers who can carry a tune. They could cut out the war number altogether.

Cats really doesn't need to be number one... it's a concept musical, so it basically has no plot, and wouldn't really transfer well to the big screen... my personal number 1 (yes even before Hamilton) is Next to Normal. It's perfect for film. But Hamilton is high on my list as well lol. And thank goodness we finally actually ARE getting a Wicked movie even if it's still 2.5 years away. Some others I'd put on my list are Dear Evan Hansen (I know it wasn't out yet when this list came out but still lol), Thoroughly Modern Millie, Miss Saigon, and a Sweeney Todd that doesn't suck.

IT'S HAPPENING!! :D And Quiara Hudes is writing the screenplay so it should definitely be good ^__^ Now, there's always the chance things could fall through again, but I really feel like there's no better time for them to be picking it back up given the Hamilton craze and how that can feed into it doing well, so I'm pretty hopeful it will come through!!

It's only just recently hit the masses, it needs a little more time on stage before turning it into a film. I'm a huge fan as well, but feel like they always leave a musical on stage for a while before preserving it into film (It also gives fans more incentive to see the show live before on film as well)

Sabrina Stephens I saw it on opening night and it was AMAZING. Once the cast album came out no one new about so when i was obsessed no ones else was. Then by the time everyone loved it i was obsessed with other musicals and kind of bored of hamilton because it just seemed at bit over rated.... Alliexware I recently watched a full Broadway performance of wicked it wasn't the original cast but it was still amazing and I love it. It also took me a while to find a good one that wasn't either like sorta animated or just a mechanic run through when I finally found one that was an actual performance I was so happy

+Marek Sison I 100% think the world is ready for a Spring Awakening movie, with the teenage world becoming more and more sexualised I think this is a movie that needs to be made, it would be ground breaking. As for the casting, it would only really need to be the 2 actors playing Melchior and Wendla that would need to be cast over the age of 18. Some 18 year olds can look very innocent.

Finally someone who doesn't hate on Cats (all the hate hurts my eyes). Cats, next to The Phantom of the Opera, is my favorit musical, but since it is avalible on DVD (& VHS), I don't think it would be higher up than Wicked. Wicked could be addapted into a movie, but Cats is music all the way through. Change that wouldn't be the same.

probably because it is so new and still on Broadway. I think musicals that have had their run should be seriously looked at for movies to bring in a different audience. I agree Cats should be number one,if you look top 4 longest running musicals of all time (Phantom of the Opera, Chicago, The Lion King, and Cats) all but Cats has a movie (Lion King is kinda weird because it was a musical adapted from a movie). I am in the mind set that all Broadways musicals should have at least one stage performance recorded so that people at home who can't afford to travel to New York can see a broadway performance.

To all those saying Hamilton should be on the list/should be number one: Do we really need a Hamilton movie? Think about it. We like Hamilton because it mixes hip-hop music with history. If you take away the hip-hop factor? You just have a play about some dead guy who established the first national bank. Plus, there's been many movies based on this topic, making Hamilton a movie wouldn't be any different, and unoriginal. What makes Hamilton THE MUSICAL original is the fact that it's history mixed with modern day music. I don't mean to offend anyone, I am just being logical. So before you comment something that makes you look like a complete idiot, think about it. And yes, Hamilton is my favorite broadway show. So I'm not just hating on Hamilton fans. Edit: Not to mention that making our favorite musical a movie takes out all of the charm in it. Just imagine getting home from seeing Hamilton, you're all hyped to tell your friends. Then when you do they say, "Oh, that's cool. But I watched the movie." Keeping it just a musical would be better. Also, if you haven't been living under a rock, you've noticed all the memes in the internet about not having money to see Hamilton. And when someone does? You think of them as lucky. The reason Hamilton would make a great movie, is because sometimes tickets are impossible to get, the way they could make it into a movie, is to copy the Broadway show for the film, but since it’s a movie it gets better effects and all that. The reason we need this is so all the people who can’t get one expensive ticket, to one of the best Broadway musicals, can experience the Musical, and even after that, I’d think the Actual Broadway show was better

I see a lot of people saying that they should of put Hamilton on the list and not an honourable mention. I don't really think Hamilton should be a movie, I love the musical and its great it really should be a movie. Due to its lack of dialogue I don't think it would do very well, people would watch it because they enjoy Hamilton, I would even go watch it but it just wouldn't go well. One that should've been either a honourable mention or on the list is In The Heights. In The Heights has awesome music and it would go amazingly mostly due to Lin Manuel Miranda. In The Heights has actual dialogue and has a great story line with beautiful music. I would love to see In The Heights as a movie and see how they would do songs like Benny's Dispatch, Breathe, In The Heights, and Blackout.
