I was in no way prepared for ‘So Big/So Small’ when I took my son, who was 20 at the time to see Evan Hansen. He was home from college that weekend, and I was still reeling from getting divorced about 8 month before after 26 years of marriage. The song captured how I felt so well, even though he was 17 when his father walked out right after he graduated high school, especially after my son went off to college and the house was empty. I was a wreck during that song, years streaming down my face. My son just held my hand and didn’t let go.

I admit to 3 songs for sadness: For Good (Wicked); Purely because I just need to belt out something sad to get it out my system: I Dreamed a Dream (Les Miserables): Sometimes I find myself thinking about a...unfortunately toxic relationship I was in and how it ended.
