Barneys …it was sad the last time I went to New York it wasn’t there. They had a great section of up and coming designers. That was still expensive but it wasn’t crazy prices and it was really good quality. I bought stuff there 10 years ago that still is brilliant condition. I felt Barneys cared about new blood in fashion and it was a great shop for investment pieces

I was obsessed with justice as a tween. They even did scheduled birthday parties there and my cousin had it there one year. They would do little makeovers on you and then give you makeup and a sparkly headband. I may or may not still have a skort from there that still fits....even though I'm in my late 20s. 😂 and wet seal was definitely a favorite as a teen! I'm still sad it's closed! Age be damned! Lol

I always passed by the Justice in Virginia Center Commons thinking to myself how cool it looked even though I was already 15 and out of the targeted demographic for the store. Plus, I was wearing like a size 16 back then so it's not like any of the clothes would've probably fit me anyway.

So many of these retailers lost their quality of time. Why spent $15 on a shirt that you have to layer because it's too thin? Or $20 on a dress that will come apart after 3-4 washes? Fast Fashion isn't sustainable. I'd rather buy high quality vintage clothes for twice the price and have them last me for 10+ years.

It frustrates me to death that people always rely on online shopping. I mean I'm glad that online shopping exists but does it always have to be relied upon? Actually being there is more of a fun experience rather than browsing through your dang computer can't anybody realize that? :(

No love for 5-7-9? I miss that store! Popular in the 90s along with The Gap and Banana Republic. I like the idea there was a specialized shop for odd sizes and tiny people, size 00 was common back then. I guess with the trend of fast social life including fast food, it's demise was inevitable.

@sams30152 жыл бұрын
When I heard British narrator I thought it was going to be British stores but I realised now 80% of the defunct stores were owned by one group so it would be a short list 😬 If you’re not British or Irish, there was this fast-fashion group called Arcadia group that owned tons of popular brands that usually decked malls and main shopping streets so when it went bust, the brands it owned did too. As a result serval chains left “the high street” (main shopping streets and malls) at once and left a big void now. Hope we learned now, it’s a bad idea left one company control too much of your commercial landscape. Anyway the brands that left were iconic especially in the early 2000s like TopShop

It's always the same way, where ever you live in any country, you favourite clothes store, always disappears in the end. I now buy from mail order people or my large local supermarket, rarely do I risk buying clothes elsewhere because this always happens. I'm from the UK, one shop I used to use disappeared because it belong to a big company called Arcadia, whose entire empire collapsed. One other one went online and now sells expensive fast fashion junk. So it's more reliable sources for me, however one of them has so declined in quality, I haven't brought anything off them in months. This is all so sad. Added to that some of my most favourite old clothes, come from a shop that left the UK years ago and went back to the continent, C&A.
