How can the pitch in by Larry Mize to win the Masters not be here? Another heartbreaker for Greg Norman. That pitch was a miracle. I was expecting it to be number one here

Just not as historical or in as big a spot, that’s why it wasn’t number 1. Don’t get me wrong it’s extremely impressive but some of the shots ahead of it was about more than just the shot and winning. It was who it was or who it was against or what tournament it was in that made them more significant. But rankings are just opinions so you’re not wrong for ranking it 1 in your list.
@RyanGolder10 жыл бұрын
No idea how any of them warrant a higher place than Corey Pavin's. Straight into the hole? Never seen anything like it in my life and probably never will again. Should definitely be number 1.

I agree Ryan, that was simply the most perfectly executed approach shot ever seen.....
@XBLJohnstOnse9 жыл бұрын
***** i think its because its more of a lucky shot, as in his distance was wrong. if his aim wasnt dead-on, it wouldve went past the hole whereas some of the other shots have perfect approaches and pace. im not saying the shot wasnt incredible, im just saying that is what i think they were looking at for the list.
@RyanGolder9 жыл бұрын
You could say that about every hole in one. If their aim hadn't been dead on then there's wouldn't have gone in either.
@GAWenzler9 жыл бұрын
XBLJohnstOnse It wouldn't have gone past the hole. A wedge from a fairway lie from 129 yds? The only luck to that is that it stayed IN the hole, instead of popping out of it.

How do they forget to include Larry Mize? 1987 he chipped in from about 140 ft at the 18th at the masters to win it. What’s even more is he’s from the Augusta area so the hometown kid won the masters on a chip in at 18. What better story could have been written (besides Jack’s 1986 victory nothing beats that!)

The one and only. In fact, that might have been his very first sports broadcast on NBC, as he had worked with CBS from the mid 70s to 1982, and was the lead commentator on their Masters coverage in those years, and was even the one that called "The Catch" in the 1981 NFC Championship Game, as CBS had him and Hank Stram work that game, instead of their #1 team of Pat Summerall and John Madden.
