I've actually seen that formation work when I played in high school. You're supposed to snap it shotgun and then he throws it over to a guy who has a wall of blockers. But I don't know if that formation is even allowed in the NFL or if maybe they just didn't line up correctly. Either way, the Colts clearly aren't spending practice time wisely.

@@sufferationist honestly that might be a sly but good tactic to use to train players to associate kicking that ball over the goal will not be a pleasant feeling. And if you back it up with training to actually tap it in and or it targets inside the goal and reward them whomever hits a target. the target practice at things inside the goal box makes building the muscle memory to kick a ball in those directs more accessible. I read a comment on another video that said it was supposed to fake the defense into thinking they were subbing and going for it so the defense would make subs and they could catch them off guard and get them for having more than 11 players on the field and if they didn't fall for it they would line up like it was a trick play and then call timeout or take a delay of game and punt the ball. But I think the one guy was put in but he never practiced the play and snapped the ball when he wasn't supposed to.
@EinTeufelskreis5 жыл бұрын
Actually Pat McAfee (Radio show host and Colts Punter at that time) explained the play: Like said before they wanted it to look like they're subbing the ST for the offense to play 4th down. The Pats should have been caught with 12 men -> 1st down. If that's not happening they call a timeout or take a delay of game and punt. It was in the actual play book saying if the QB goes under center snap it. The problem was that the initial "center" for this play was hurt. So WR Griff Whalen stepped in. He read the play book saying he should snap it if Anderson (the "QB" in this play) goes under center. But so far everybody knew what to do. No problem. But when the play was called HC Chuck Pagano said to Anderson he should go under center to try to maybe draw the Pats offside forgetting his center had no idea what the use of this play was. So he went under center as the Pats didn't subbed their ST, Whalen snapped the ball (as it was descripted in the play book) and everyone is like "Wtf actually happened?!" 😂😂😂

But it was 4th down, taking a delay of game would have been declined and a turnover on downs 🤷♂️

@@sufferationist both are hideous contracts and weber is the better player. it looked bad when it was done, but not as much now. of course, signing him to that monstrosity was stupid in the first place. also the price contract. he's good, but that contract handcuffs the team. they can't move him unless they take a bad contract in return. the sergachev deal was the stupid one. he's just the kind of player we could use right now.

The hockey player who scored in his own net in the first play is now the GM of the Montreal Canadiens. His trades and overall management of the team has been on par with his own goal.

I can't believe that it took the Colts so long to fire Chuck. If I was the owner I would have walked down there and fired him right after that play. But no, let's let him stay a couple of more years.

The only reason I can guess as to why a player tried to tackle his own teammate was that he didn't want his teammate getting tackled inside the endzone for a safety. Either that, or he wanted to keep his teammate inside the endzone so they would get a touchback and start possession at the 20 rather than at the 1. Either way, the dumb mistake was the fumble, not a player trying to tackle his own teammate for what could have been a good reason.

4:14 this actually happened at a HS soccer game of mine. Our striker wanted to hit the ball so hard into the open net to look cool that it shot up, hit the bar, and bounced back out.

1:12 there was a board game from the 80’s that I have called VCR football. You draw cards that tell you how many yards you gain or lose as you try to get a TD. Some cards have the word VCR where you watch the next clip and the that’s the result of your turn. This clip is on that videotape (it’s the only one I really remember). But when you played the game enough, you knew when it was coming up. If you draw the VCR card and get this clip, your opponent gets the safety.

.. and then a miss that's so difficult to comprehend you have to see several times. Really unfathomable and completely unbelievable what [Lemi] Djuričić missed. There was no one within 15 meters of him. Did the ball bounce? Lemi said yes. He wanted to effectively kick it in with the tip of his leg into the net after the mistake of the goalkeeper Ranković and the much lauded right fullback Marko Mazić, after which Lemi was all alone. This miss will potentially mark his entire fall season and maybe his 10-15 year long career of playing in Belgrade clubs.
