Air Jordan definitely defines that he owns everything when he is in the air Larry Legend is really cool that it fits his name and he is a legend himself The Diesel fits shaq perfectly, look at how dominant he is how he dunked on people trying dunk on him, literally noone could outpower him. Chef Curry is pretty cool and elegant like his presence on and off the court. Hes so explosive Reign Man, he reigns everyone and couldnt stop his dunks definitely one of the best dunkers of all time The Claw, Kawhi leonard is really versatile but he is known for his dominance in the defensive side of the floor, with his hands and wingspan he can stop anyone like sticking his claw so no one could escape him. The Glove, just like Kawhi's but Gary Payton's was original on its own. Starbury, just kidding. Iceman, No one could stop his finger rolls. George Gervin has ice in his veins lol Big Fundamental fits Duncan perfectly because he is too big and a great player who relied on fundamentals to dominate the game. The Big Ticket, Garnett is the reason for The Twolves to get to the playoffs and even the conference finals, he was too good he became like the ticket for the wolves to enter the playoffs. Wilt the stilt, It rhymes. White Mamba fits perfectly because he is an unstoppable snake that animal experts named a black snake after him. It would seem hilarious if they call the snake white mamba when its literally black so they call it black mamba. Then they named kobe after that snake

To me what makes for a great nickname is not only how it sounds but more so how it becomes the identity of the player. Commentators actually refer to Ervin Johnson as Magic and Julius Erving as Dr J or Doc when in conversation with them, Penny Hardaway, Blue Edwards, Mugsy Bogues and Mookie Blaylock are other examples of this phenomenon. They don't refer to Michael Jordan as Air or Hakeem Olajuwon as Dream or Kobe Bryant as Black Mamba in conversation, they call those players by their real names.

There are so many nicknames it's hard to justice to them all, however, being from Utah I would have to include the Mailman, Karl Malone. The sportscaster for the Jazz, a former Laker, had his own nickname Hot Rod Hundley. He made the game much more exciting and on many a cold winter night Utah was glued to their TVs and radios. Karl evolved from a passionate player who got thrown out too much to one who was unstoppable when he received the ball close to the basket. It was either let him score or count it and he's fouled!
