Ive always laughed when people complain about pegos being by and far the worst dino in the game. its like... yes. they are certainly annoying. but you can always get your stolen goods back. the ichthy tho.... they immediately monch and delete whatever they steal. literally will take fertilized eggs from you with zero counter play. just so much worse than the annoying little pego! end of rant. nothing is close to how awful the ichthy is XD

The number one creature I want to see gone is the AI. Instead of every dino either roaming aimlessly or attacking with prejudice, I want to see trikes roaming in herds, argents incubating eggs in their nest, direbears sleeping in their caves, raptors chilling in the shade of a tree, lines of drones bringing food to their hive, snakes and sarcos lying in wait for an ambush, sabertooths playing with eachother. I'm more than willing to sacrifice quantity for quality.

I was literally going to say all your points, but you stole the words right out of my mouth. I think better designs would be cool too. Some creatures in Ark have really good designs, like the thylacoleo, procoptodon, dire bear, chalicotherium, sabertooth, etc (mammals tend to usually have good designs), while some of Ark's designs are disgustingly awful, like the pteranodon, quetzal, plesiosaurus, mosasaurus, raptor and dilophosaurus (both JP ripoffs), and the parasaurolophus. These are just some of my subjective takes, but overall, I would like some better models, even if they aren't scientifically accurate, which they don't have to be.

This is exactly what I hope to see, and I agree 100%, Ark should have dinosaurs interacting with each other, and there should be fun, detailed aspects that make this game different and better in every way, the primitive part is my favorite part about Ark, and it should be a big part in Ark 2.

Well, personally I would like to see as many Ark 1 creatures in Ark 2 as possible: variety is always great. I feel like the whole issue with the listed crratures is their not properly balanced stats/appearance/abilities etc. Them gigas can just have lower wild stats and no gnashed effect to be actually killable, manas should not have their ice breath at all or should have it nerfed the way it wouldn't freeze you immediately (armagas is the example of the proper freezing), liopleurodons shouldn't be the temporarily tame. P.S. pegos, rly? So ichthyornises, who can steal and eat your precious wywern eggs without having any chance to get it back, unlike with pegos, are ok?... Alright, nvm Oh, and about tek stryders being "ease", the whole gen2 is about ease, doesn't it? Easy resources, easy taming, easy traversing, easy tek, easy element farming - it's all there

Those annoyances are part of that tension and difficulty (unfair at times, sure but still). As for the ending, that video about top 10 worst things you lost to a pego sounds amazing :D

grinding is different from unfair ark is hard and bull at times- but those? those are flat out unfair it’s not like a hard dinos that you have to level up to overcome like rexes or mosa or gigas (which I think people want them gone because they are too op for the more balanced feel of ark 2), these things are annoying and you cannot counter them microraptors for example, they are hard to hit, they are fast af so you cannot run away from them and they always knock you off at the worst time like at the middle of the fight imagine fighting 2 rexes on a thyla, grinding arms for boss fights, a microraptors run up at you- what do you do? jump off you die, stay on and get stun off and die, run and got catch up and die and when you die, your tame get killed that is not challenging- that is called bullshit and it does not increase the fun of the game in any way so I think it’s 100% fair that they get removed or rework

@@chaosticbraindo Now there's plenty of counters, yuty, stego, andrewsarchus, giga and the best of all sinomacrops, you gotta pay attention to your surroundings and not just blindly charge into a fight. Dismount with movement speed and quick passive then follow whistle will let you escape as well, been there, done that. They don't relentlessly chase you, they hit you once and then run back, plenty of time to get back on saddle. If you have the means of fighting two rexes at a time, you should be able to survive couple hits with ease. Again, not saying I love microraptors, just saying they do have their place. Without those annoyances, at late game you're unstoppable and nothing except maybe other player will pick you off your mount. How is that a survival game?

@@Synthia17 I still don’t think that is a solid argument for why they should be a part of ark 2 no one- and I mean no one- run around on a stego for fun they are beyond slow XD giga is end game stuff already and if you are on pve the only map you would really bother to tame them is the extinction as they can’t be brought into boss arenas (which is fair for most maps they r a bit too op) andrew and yuty is the only fair argument here and andrew is on only 1 map, so are sinos yuty is also late game the way I see ark is starting out as survival up to mid game where you start to do breeding and taming harder stuff as well as grind for weapons and armors then late game where you do bosses up until late game, if you are on say- any other map then Fjorder (I can’t remember how to spell that) you can’t counter them and checking surroundings is not something that you can say here because I can’t check every corners of the redwoods- they are sooo hard to see and if u r in the middle of a fight and have to run because a random third party show up that doesn’t even belong there in the first place? that is just plain annoying as it disrupt the fun (not to say they literally appear out of thin air sometimes idk how) but to each their own I guess because so far I have not been able to see any benefits or anything positive that they bring to the game games are supposed to be enjoyable if a feature of a game is annoying then it’s a bad feature in my book things like bosses are hard but beating them give you a feeling of accomplishment and rewards for doing so these things- they are just plain annoying to me

To answer your question at the end of the video,no I don't want ark to be easy, infact ab (one of the hardest maps) is my favorite, but there is a diffrence between makeing a creature hard to encounter and just makeing it flat out annoying on porpuse (like pego or microraptor)

I share this opinion. A lot of the ARK community just don't understand how amazing the feeling accomplishing something difficult like a long tough raid, a difficult boss fight that you've been preparing ages for, or even just a hard tame that you managed to do alone. I don't need carrots on a stick or instant gratification to be happy. As a mostly PvE player, It's the slow, difficult investment that gets me going. Early-Mid Game>>>>End Game because once nothing is dangerous it turns into monotony (this varies depending on an ARK by ARK basis).

I agree here, the difficulty is part of why aberration is also *my* favourite map, the other reason being the design of the environment. But yea I want most of the annoyances gone. However I think they still have a use for difficulty, as am example Microraptor could dismount you when you're in the middle of fighting something. But yea I mostly share this opinion

I actually prefer when nothing's dangerous tbh, I don't have as many heart attacks by getting thwacked by a sabertooth, raptor or whatever I didn't see. To me it has to be one or the other. I love the vanilla feel of the earlier maps that just has real prehistoric creatures, and I love the fantasy feel of maps like Extinction, Aberration and Genesis. But they don’t mix that well, so having vanilla maps with fantasy creatures feels really weird, when there aren’t many other fantasy creatures around.

@@lukaskback9710 The massive giga is just as unrealistic as a wyvern, they are both genetically modified abominations in the lore too. The game takes place in a dystopian future where the earth is nearly uninhabitable and most of humanity is genetic copies of humans from the past kept in space. It is not prehistoric or fantasy it is syfy. The whole point of the arks in the lore is to distract from the fact you are in space by making the people think they are trapped in a fantasy world or the past. All the creatures were made in a lab except if you are playing gen 1 then they are all simulated. The maps all have their own themes but at heart they are all syfy even if at points it doesn't feel like it, that's literally the point. I mean look at the obelisks and tek stuff, that is very futuristic looking and it only gets more futuristic with each map.

Like sure, the giga is scaled up from its real-life counterpart, but it’s still an actual prehistoric creature, and it doesn’t look out of place next to everything else on the island, whereas a Shadowmane or a Reaper just look out of place on a realistic looking map, but feel more at home at their native sci-Fi looking maps.

As someone who's played ARK since the start and everything since, I agree and disagree with the notion of removing everything fantastical. Part of what makes ARK, ARK for me is the perfect melding of sci-fi, fantasy, and prehistoric (Among lots of other aspects). I don't want to be "Just another dinosaur game", however I do think that the push for more primitive elements in terms of overall game play is a good one in general. Also I'm surprised that the Maewing didn't make it in (then again maybe not that surprising). It's my top pick for the creature I do not want in ARK 2 because of how much it trivializes breeding, but without Cryo Pods perhaps it won't be as bad as it is today.

@@andrew9194 was that before or after the velonasaur nerf? i've only played with them since after said nerf, and the tail attack doesn't seem to do much at all for me. I've only dabbled on the pvp side of things so I'll take your word on that, but the few times I did see someone bring theris to a giga fight the theris got wrecked. As did anything else other than an opposing giga. Maybe it was rider skill or some other factor, but the impression that (admittedly small sample) experience left was that gigas just outclass everything.

I'd heard they used to be good for that, but when I tested mine against a bronto the tail whip didn't feel that impressive so I just figured the nerf had made it unviable and never risked it. I love the giga. I am still SHOCKED that the Ichthynoris didn't make this list. It's the pegomastax but worse. Literally chases you, relentlessly attempting to steal your shit. Perhaps the only difference is that the pego attacks *anything*. You got a t-rex? Let it just run over and start nibbling on Rexy's toe. Ichthynoris don't seem to attack apex predators or humans riding them. However transferring to a server for the first time with all your shit. Appearing on a beach and getting dive bombed by birds who steal your inventory just as you render the new map... yeah. It sucks.

I’d personally like to see most of the creatures from Ark 1 to transition to Ark 2, prehistoric or not, but I kinda understand why some creatures are on this list. I feel like certain creatures could potentially be swapped out for real prehistoric creatures, like the shadowmane for the cave lion, or noglin with some real prehistoric parasite. Some could simply be tlc’d like the Giga, and some could get a new role that make them less useless like the Troodon or liopleurodon.

It’s a shame these “no fun fantasy” fkrs are such a vocal minority because I wanna see what ark 2 can really do. The giga, blood stalker, mana, Shadowmane, Tek Strider all made the list because they're *wildly* unbalanced for PvP. I don't think PvE players care at all (in fact they probably like them). I *hope* WC gets someone in the office that understands how to create effective and balanced *counters* so PvE players can enjoy creatures that haven't been nerfed into oblivion (Managarmr). The other option would be to disallow certain abilities when the mode is set to PvP. The rest of the list are universally hated by both PvP and PvE players...mostly because they're annoying, but that also makes it challenging and fun. The liopleurodon is just pointless...

As a pve player (dipped my toes in pvp but health issues kept me from really enjoying it) I'd largely agree there. Though, I do also dislike gigas and feel tek striders. I mean, I like the *idea* of the striders, and the little minigame taming method is kind of neat, but the harvester is a bit much and the others don't seem to have much use at all in pve. As for gigas, that's a bit of a story but the TLDR is just how big the gap between them and everything else is.

Honestly, they should make the two modes completely separate. PVE can have its own balance where things are on the more op side while the things in PVP are a bit weaker. As a PVE player I really don't want my experience to be worsened by PVP changes, and I'm sure PVP players feel the same towards me

People who don't want Giga's in Ark 2 must be clinically insane. It's the coolest Carnivore in the game by far. Plus mods like Dino Storage fix the issue of not being able to bring them into boss arenas. @@denouncing basically once you have the settings right you can soul pod your Gigas outside the arena. Activate the terminal for teleportation into the arena. Then once inside throw out all your Gigas. Once boss is dead, I collect all my Gigas again with the paintball gun the mod gives you and then you get teleported out again. Easy.

I don't have a problem with the "fantasy" creatures, because Ark is fundamentally a science fiction story, and just like Jurassic Park, the point is made early and often that none of what you see is natural or even necessarily real. These aren't dinosaurs, they're genetic freaks of nature created as a last ditch effort to preserve Earth's genetic legacy from being obliterated. I know the community has requested less fantasy and less high tech, but I actually hope those requests are somewhat ignored, because the blend of high tech and caveman survival is what makes Ark so iconic. The last time we had any video game with that aesthetic, they were still making Turok games. Ark is fundamentally "what if a bunch of naked humans were dropped off on an artificial ring world from Halo and told to kill the Guilty Spark with whatever they can make with their hands," and I think that's a fantastic premise for a sandbox game. I don't mind the hard reset, because after all, Ark itself didn't start out with genetic freaks of nature or space lasers either. I do hope that the initial release of 2 is very primitive and has realistic dinosaurs, but just like Ark 1, I want the game to become more advanced and more alien as time goes on. Because these aren't dinosaurs, and never were. They're monsters made in a lab. The game was always going to become more Turok-like as time goes on, and it shouldn't shy away from that. I think there are a lot of creatures that were not well thought-out, and that serve little purpose. I also feel like certain creatures definitely got left behind, while others were continually updated or given better things (mantises can use tools to fight and harvest, but gigantopithecus can't?). And I would hope that Ark 2 corrects this by trying to make the creatures it does feature more attractive and useful. I also think Ark 2 would benefit tremendously from incorporating improvements to their formula that have been pioneered by other games, such as Rust and Conan Exiles, both of which have improved the construction system with better snap points, stacking foundations, and cleaner building grids. I would agree that more than excluding certain creatures or changing the tone of the game, Ark 2 would be better served to improve it's basic functionality and update some of it's core systems, like a more refined and smarter building system, and a cleaner and nicer looking menu system. Maybe some people want the grind to come back, but having to clear cut an entire forest just to build a house was never fun, and Wildcard acknowledged that, even if they may have gone too far in the other direction with creatures like the Strider. People can call for a return to the grind all they like, but when official servers permanently double the amount of resources gained from harvesting, it's clear that there was too much grind. Overall, I find myself set against most of what the community seems to want for Ark 2. I feel like the blend of caveman and tech was one of the biggest aesthetic draws of Ark, and I also feel that the excessive story was one of the failings of the later maps. The high point of which was obviously banning fliers and making building illegal on huge swaths of some of the later maps because it would "break progression." I don't want those things in Ark 2, and I'm afraid that with the hiring of Vin Diesel to play Santiago, that I won't be getting my wish, since it doesn't make sense to glow so much money on a AAA actor if you aren't going to use them as much as possible. I played Far Cry Primal, and found it to be incredibly boring. I don't want Ark 2 to sacrifice so much of what makes Ark unique to become Far Cry Primal Starring Vin Diesel. I'm concerned about what Ark 2 is going to be like, because so far, very few of the problems I have with Ark (the building system, the UI, the breeding system, the broken loot system, excessive story) have been addressed by the devs or community demands, while many of the things that I feel make Ark what it is (the absence of real NPCs, the caveman in space aesthetic, the science fiction elements) are being criticized and called to be removed. Perhaps Ark 2 just won't be the game for me, but in general, I seem to have the minority opinion. I tend to play the maps in the order they were released, so I spend a lot of time "earning" my science fiction on The Island before moving on to progressively stranger and more exotic map locations. Locking Tek behind the bosses and Element resources was the right design choice, and I PERSONALLY feel that some of the people who think the game is "too science fictioney" haven't made a new character recently and played the maps in the order they are intended to be played in. If you skip ahead three maps and snag a nutty fantasy tame and the wingsuit just to come back and cheese The Island with it, then you're making an active choice to inject early nutty fantasy into your own experience. And I don't really feel as though you have the right to complain about it if you do that. I enjoyed the gradual progression through the maps as things became stranger and more exotic, because it felt like the overarching story of your survivor was a true journey into the unknown. In my perfect build of the game, Ark 2 would keep the human NPCs at arm's length from the player, the breeding and taming system would be reworked to be less frustrating and grindy, better systems from similar games like Conan and Rust would be incorporated to improve survival, building, and crafting mechanics, and technology would be reverted back to early release The Island, but as more maps were added, the science fiction and high tech would gradually come back as boss unlocks, and we would end up in approximately the same place that we have now after five or six years of new maps and story progression. I would also like a more seamless and dedicated system for moving between maps. Ark has cluster support, but I'd like to see more of that in Ark 2. I don't think I'll be getting what I want, but we'll see. Sometimes I think what the community asks to be added or removed from the game, doesn't' really reflect what SHOULD be added or removed.

You have a great point!, the only thing that i disagree is your "tech and primitive", a lot of people dont want tek to just dissapear, just to be less relevant and more of a true reward (i mean, the only maps where it is truly a reward is the island and scorched earth), and if you play in later maps, it becomes more of a: ...meh, another fully made tek suit to the list, an example of a good balance of that is fjordur map, as you can replace tek for a LONG TIME using the more exotics tames, and even with tek, the tames dont get pushed to being decoration and are quite useful

The real problem with pegos isn't so much the annoyance of them, but that there is no way to defend against them. They come out of nowhere, grab valuable stuff from your inventory and then take off. If you're lucky, you can catch and kill them and get your item back, but in the case it steals a valuable food item, it eats it immediately and there is no way to get it back. I would be more understanding of its place in the ARK world if there was at least some kind of QuickTime event or something that you had to fail in order for it to get away with your stuff, but there is simply no way to prevent them from stealing from you, only the hope that you can get it back.

Because ark devs made up a complete fantasy dino, slapped a real dinos name on it and called it a day. The only thing giga about the giga is its name, and the fact it eats meat. In reality the giga is ever so slightly bigger than a rex, and both are smaller than spinosaurus.

Ah Pegos and Ichthyornis, my 2 main dinos on the "Shoot on sight" list. As much as they annoy me being thieving bastards they're not that bad. If I'm going to areas they populate I watch out for them and shoot them before they approach. Same with Compys, although Compys usually just come up when my Argy lands and look up at her. Then I get off and it's "time to go clubbing!!" :) For me the only stuff I wouldn't want is tech/mechanical stuff, fantasy stuff, and suchlike. Keep things primitive. It would be also nice to see stuff like Argy nests up in the mountains, with baby Argies and eggs. You can tame a fully grown Argy, or risk stealing an egg that'll get you an even better Argy than the equivalent fully grown bird, like say 20% better stats for a comparable level or something. And the parents if they spot you trying to sneak into the nest can pick you up and drop you.

I am surprised the pego gets so much hate considering the fact it can easily be outsmarted by putting an useless item in the 0 slot. Even if it steals something useful you can kill it and get back the item. In my opinion Ichtyornis is worse because it steals a random item from the inventory and it eats it with no chance of getting it back. Luckily the devs had a bit mercy and the stupid bird only drops a weapon and doesn’t eat it. Plus, I find it harder to kill it than a pego.

As a first time Bob back in the day, I joined a server with the tame settings set super fast. I had mejo berries in the last slot for taming a lystro and all of a sudden, out of the blue, I've tamed multiple pegos. Had no idea what was going on, but by the end of the day I had a massive pego army running after me. Kept my noob self alive and I've had a soft spot for the ugly little things ever since.

I want most these creatures, just fix them up. Make the giga a high health, lower damage counterpart to the rex, while the spino is the lowest health and highest damage of the three big carnivores. Make the liopluerodon permanent and have it as a midgame swimming mount, an alternative to the megalodon and sarco. Keep the troodons but make them only spawn in specific areas and make them scarier during the night but unable to approach light sources. Make the two thief creatures (pego and bird) more timid and maybe take away their ability to steal stuff.

I would really like them to give procedural arks an overhaul to add in all biomes, make creatures spawn in their respective biomes exclusively, and allow you to toggle creatures on and off for each map (provided you have the corresponding DLC if not a vanilla creature). I love the random terrain of the procedural arks but absolutely hate how there are no swamps or desserts and the spawns make no sense and are so disproportionate. You almost never see anything but sarcos, kapros, spinos, rexes, etc

I think the liopuerodon should be added, but it should either be a permanent tame or drop something exclusively dropped by a liopuerodon like a tooth or a eye. I honestly think the liopuerodon had a lot of potential and it could be a great addition to the game. Especially if it’s hostile (just to add a challenge to killing it)

To be honest, is almost impossible that the Stryders would not be in Ark 2, because the Eden Ring is the only remain left of the Gen 2 Space Ship, and that same ring is in the Ark 2 planet, so is possible that we will see again the Stryders, and also the R Variants, wich includes the Giga, and, if for some unkwown miracle, some Shadowmanes survived the explosion or they were a few of them in Eden for some reason, it is possible that we will see again the Shadowmanes too, (I REALLY want to see Shadowmanes with Unreal Engine 5, just imagine it, a chimera-like hybrid between a Lion and a Venomous Tropical Fish, having an electrical chain teleportation, a very cool appereance as a giant aquatic Lion and an almost complete invisibility, all that in Unreal Engine 5) #KeepShadowmanes

the only old dinos that should spawn naturally in ark 2 are the ones that were on the genesis 2 ship. since it takes place on an alien planet with alien life, earth creatures shouldn’t be there unless they were on the ship. it would be cool if you had to search the ruins of the crashed ship to find older dinos preserved in some way.

It makes me sad to see so much hate for one of my favourite tames. I always carry extra berries and cryos in case I see pegos, I think they're great and underrated as heck. They're great backpacks with solid weight, health, and self defense capabilities if you die, and they gather berries, *lots* of seeds, and rare flowers and mushrooms if available, both when thrown or allowed to wander. The thefts are easily countered by splitting a stack of anything cheap like berries or fiber (and putting at least one in slot 0) to lower the odds of them grabbing something actually valuable. And they're always a perfect tame! (Disclaimer I have two cryofridges of just pegos because I love the little twerps 😂 pegos such good thieves they stole my heart and probably my wallet too)

Ark had always been Scifi and fantasy based.. no one can tell me that cloning tech, floating obelisks, the arks themselves let alone the tech dinos that are all over the place on the island let alone the millions of years gaps from some of these dinosaur species to begin with such as the Stegosaurus and the T rex already making the game fantasy by nature and people are crying that a fantasy alien planet how many years set in a fantasy future has fantasy creatures for Ark 2..

I don't mind creatures like Rock Drake's, Wyverns and Shadowmanes. I just don't want cyborg or robotic creatures that are more like jets then actual creatures. Tek variants are a nice addition that I love, but are just like the standard, but cooler. They don't shoot lasers or have jets.

I don't think people realize how useful the pego pickpocket truly is. They are always remarkably easy to countertroll. They will default to yoinking items placed in your zero slot first.

All these creatures are great for pvp and all have their own uses. Don't get rid of any becasue they are just annoying, these creatures are also what gives you trouble in ark, don't just get rid of them to make it easy.

Once I lost a level 270 Rex in a cryo due to a pegomastax. To make it worse, I was playing Solo Tribe and they was my king tame.

This is definitely a PVE list and if you're going to take away mana garmers take away wyverns too because the reason you guys said was they're too flashy you guys also said the same thing about Shadow means but not wyverns one of the most flashy animals in the game

I think the idea of realism and back to the age before just doesn’t make sense in ark 2 because it’s not like we’re on earth anymore we’re on a alien planet so there are bound to be those creatures and even more alien creatures.

Liopleurodon not even bettering the loot, rather than simply changing it. With the Awesome Spyglass one can see the loot beforehand, and when i opened the crate the loot was never really better. But i dont have any statistics of that.. ^^ Feel like it needs a small tlc :)
